My sister and myself enjoyed our stay for approx 14 days. The property is situated in a beautiful area of Saint Paul and we felt safe. Lovely garden to sit in and enjoy a coffee or meal.
We struggled abit with limited natural light coming in and the low ceiling height, but this was expected with being a basement accommodation.
If you struggle with mobility I would not recommend staying here as the stairs are awkward to walk down to the basement and you need to duck your head down to avoid hitting your head on the above ceiling.
Terrific selection of pots and pans and utensils in the kitchen.
Robert was friendly and very prompt with his online communication with us. On our late night overseas arrival to Minneapolis and then to Robert’s, I was impressed that he stayed up to greet us and assisted us to carry our suitcases downstairs.
Overall it was a comfortable stay and a reasonable price.. Thanks Robert for your hospitality.

Positives: host very nice and welcoming, easy check in/out instructions, beds were very comfortable, the apartment had everything you need for your stay, nice quiet safe neighborhood. Negatives: This apartment would not be able to accommodate any one over 6ft tall or with any difficulty walking, probably not good for elderly. The ceilings are low and stairs down to apartment old with very low clearance. The apartment could use some furniture and flooring update.
I still give it a 5star rating as these things were in other reviews so I knew this when I booked it.

It’s not the nicest place in the world but for the price and use we got out of it, it was perfect. My friends and I made good use of the area outside and even though we were in the basement of a multi unit building I felt we had a good amount of privacy. Like I said not very high end but got the job done

It should be disclosed how low the ceilings are. Are they even up to code? At 5 ft 4” I can touch the ceiling everywhere in this basement unit. The pipes ran even lower giving the feeling of a dark mole hole.
I booked a 2 week stay with my daughter to receive medical therapy so we would be spending nearly all our time inside with her recovering. Right away I talked to the owner about concerns of damp musty smell and dark claustrophobic feeling. My daughter complained her nose hurt there and couldn't breathe as well. Owner said he could not even partially refund our entire 2 weeks unless he could rent it out again. We unfortunately spent Sunday night and an hour on the phone with VRBO explaining that the place did not meet my daughters medical needs and trying to get our reservation canceled so it could be re listed. The beds were uncomfortable with a mattress put on one of the twin beds so it couldn't be used.
After further back and forth with owner it took until Wednesday afternoon for our reservation to be canceled and re-opended. We moved to another rental Monday afternoon. VRBO agreed paying for 2 weeks was unfair but said it was up to owner to refund. He did not rent it out again and is unwilling to refund anything for 1 night of a 2 week period. I do not recommend staying here

I was on a Busines trip over a month and stay at St.Anthony Park Basement 2 Bedroom. The place has everything you need, 5 min walk have a grocery store, post office, restaurants, library, park etc. The apartment is cozy, the host is friendly and has all facilities you need for your stay. Definitely I'll return again and use St.Anthony Park Basement 2 Bedroom for my stay.

The property was as cozy, clean and convenient as advertised. Right near a host of great restaurants in a quiet and safe neighborhood. For anyone who has business at either nearby Luther Seminary or the University of Minnesota the location is "perfect"!

the location of this house is perfect if you’re planning on going to the state fair and dont want to drive. it’s less than 2 miles away and the walk is t bad at all. also there are plants of places to go for coffee, a bite to eat, or just hang out. overall great stay!

We stayed for the State Fair, this property worked out well for us. We were able to walk to the State Fair and back without difficulty.
Property as pictured and described, comfortable beds and plenty of room for us.

In the middle of day to over night, it gets super hot and not much air circulation. Even though, there are 2 probable air conditioner and a humidifier. Owner said that we can only run one of the 3 mechine. Therefore the house get super hot and it gets difficult to sleep at night when the temperature is above 70 degree. Other than that, it’s a nice spot.

There were a lot of amenities for this property tucked away in a pleasant neighborhood. The beds were very comfortable and there was a lot of room to relax along with the outside accommodations.

We enjoyed the cozy accommodations, easy check-in/check-out for our short stay. It was easily accessible to shops, restaurants, coffee shops and a small grocery as well. It had everything we needed and would highly recommend to others.

This property was perfect for our needs. It was nice and clean and that’s a big deal for me. I was close to where we needed to be for a course we came in to take, there was a market nearby and a couple of restaurants that we could walk to. Robert was very easy to work with and he responded quickly to my questions, access was very easy. The only reason I am not leaving a five star is because of the television, I would suggest getting a smart TV so that renters can just stream their own content. There is a small television with DIRECTV and about five channels maybe. It wasn’t a dealbreaker because I just wound up watching some shows at night on my little kindle fire tablet that I brought. I would rent again, thanks Robert

My daughters (adult) and I enjoyed our stay in St. Paul and really appreciated the cleanliness of the apartment and the little added touches - e.g. condiments and packets of tea, juice, etc. in the kitchen cupboard.

This was a lovely little basement apartment where we had everything we needed. Robert was very nice and made us feel comfortable.
2.5
We liked the sunlight coming into the apartment and its ambiance. The hosts were friendly and helpful. It is not a good place for people with mobility issues because of the half flight of stairs down to it.

We enjoyed our stay at this very nice apartment! It was very clean and comfortable. The ceilings are low, but the rooms still feel very spacious. The owners are very nice and easy to communicate with. We stayed here for almost a month and had a great time!

Adequate. But not by much. Should be advertised with height limitation; ceilings and pipes wouldn’t provide clearance for those over 6’3”. TV and DVD player inoperable at times. Low end appliances and finishings for the price point.
We had a great time in St. Paul with fam and St. Anthony Park is a lovely village within the city. But accommodations didn’t contribute much.

Everything was as promised. We enjoyed our lovely stay and appreciated our hosts As we had some difficulty with our travel and Southwest airlines. Would highly recommend the property. Particularly enjoyed the lovely community just a five minute walk away.

When I arrived Robert was very welcoming. He made sure that we were warm with the heat. We had everything we needed as far as towels and sheets the beds were made and very welcoming. It wasn't too far from Mall of America. Overall my kids loved it it was very spacious we had a wonderful time. Amazing family very loving and sweet.

Basement apartment - entry smelled like dog and difficult stairs to maneuver down with luggage. Once inside the unit it was nicely finished and spacious. Disappointed in paying for the cleaning fee tho as the beds looked slept in and not laundered which is gross especially during Covid times. The listing said there would be 24 hours between rentals and found out there was not even 6 hours. Mattresses were old and gross and uncomfortable. Dust and cobwebs hanging from vents. Deadbolt lock did not work. Light bulbs burnt out. Dog barking upstairs and noisy AC units. TV small with very few channels. Overall a disappointing stay not worth the price. First bad rental I've had with VRBO. Bummer.

Perfect location and easy access to The University of MN Twin Cities!
2.5
A Great location between the Twin Cities! The place was very nice at an affordable price. Walking distance to local restaurants and bars and a short drive or bike ride to the downtown area of St. Paul and Minneapolis, MN.

I loved St. Anthony Park neighborhood for strolling, shopping, feasting on pastry and great coffee. So close to the #3 bus for easy access to both downtown St. Paul and Minneapolis. Just a brief walk up the hill to the UM campus for the raptor rehab center and the Student Center's exotic homemade ice cream flavors.
I loved the patio and grill. My daughter and her partner, whom I was visiting for the month of August without being underfoot, took full use of the space after they were done with work for the day.
Robert and his wife were the perfect hosts -- there but not hovering. The basement apartment suited me just fine -- roomy and quiet, and clean, and well equipped. I hope to return.

Great value, great location, nice owners. We have stayed at this property twice. I would only suggest the small shower needs a gooseneck pipe from the wall and a different shower head so that the water comes straight down rather than out the door and onto the floor when you first go to turn it on.
2.5
Great location - near highway 280 and Larpenteur/Hennepin Ave. Well-appointed and comfortable in a beautiful neighborhood with restaurants/cafes and shopping steps away. The only negative would be that the building is older so there is no air conditioning in this unit. However it is in the basement/garden so it wasn't too bad (we just happened to be there on one of the hotter weekends of the summer which is really out of the owners' control.) The owners live on site and were friendly and helpful. Would stay here again.
2.5
Pros:
Responsive owner - our "access your VRBO rental" app wasn't working, and the owner gave us the entry info right away
Nicely decorated
Comfortable beds - loved the 2 twin beds for my 2 boys
Good TV/cable/internet access, good DVD selection
The Saint Anthony Park neighborhood is beautiful - I would suggest that the owner include some photos of it (the library, Bibelot, Muffletta, etc.) with the listing to showcase its beauty. (The pic of the Speedy Mart does not paint a pretty picture)
Cons:
The bathroom could use a shelf below the window (perhaps a floating Ikea shelf?); there was not a good place to put toiletries since the bathroom sink is a pedestal sink
Somewhat humid in the unit since it's a basement - but glad there was a working dehumidifier
Electrical should be upgraded - there were a few instances of blown fuses while we were there (the fuse box is in this basement unit), which was a little inconvenient
2.5
The lower level unit we occupied was very clean and well equipped. The three level structure is older, so there are visable pipes in the unit and a basic stairway down to the unit through a utility area. Nothing about the age of the unit detracts from it's suitability though. The bathroom is updated, the kitchen well equipped and the bedrooms comfortable. Modern TV w/cable and good internet service. Service and responsiveness by the owner, Robert, was excellent. Because he lives in the building he is readily available and responded quickly to our requests.
