The house was perfect for our family of five. There was plenty of space, comfortable spots to hang out, as well as a kitchen full of all that we needed. The house was close enough to all of the major DE beaches but far enough away from all of the traffic and hub-bub. We also walked to the ice cream shop and Irish pub that was a short distance away. It's a quiet and cute town! We would definitely come back again!

Enjoyed our stay. Wonderful home and enjoyed exploring Milton and nearby state park and beaches.

Quiet neighborhood. The location to all beaches was okay.

We loved this home- could walk to all the fun things in town, and literally a 15 minute drive to the beach! It is a lovely home and clean and well cared for. We also enjoyed the hot tub and sitting on the front porch. Thank you!

We enjoyed our stay at Suds and Sand! We arrived on a 100+ degree day, but the setup of air conditioning and bonus fans worked to keep even a historic home comfortable and cool. We loved the set up of the kitchen for cooking and spent a lot of family time in the family room. The master tub is a little awkward to get in and out of if you are not very limber. John responded quickly to any questions. We also loved that we did not have a long lists of required tasks when checking out!

Brought my two kids here for a week during the summer. The house has everything one would want and is close to a number of beaches and local attractions. My kids want to stay at the same house next season!

The pictures depict the inside of the house perfectly. It was spacious and pet friendly which is always a plus for us! The owner was extremely fast with communication. The king bed in the upstairs room was perfect for our kids as they decided to have a sleepover together the whole week. The dinning room was big enough for the 5 of us plus our family that was staying in Lewes when they came to hang out.
We have 3 younger ages kids 8, 5.5 and 2.5. Our 2.5 year old was a small problem to bathe in the master tub, it was missing the hand held shower attachment so we used a cup. The other 2 kids take showers so they had no issues.
The cleaning company didn’t seem to have come through before we stayed beyond changing the bedding. The sinks, microwave, toilets, bath mats and shower curtain had stains that were visible. We cleaned for use. The walls and baseboards had hair and dust on them. It doesn’t seem like anyone else in the reviews has this same experience so it was probably a one off or just something we noticed since we vacuumed a few times due to our dog’s hair.
With a 2.5 year old it was wonderful having a washer and dryer in the house and we were able to come home with clean laundry!
The parking in the back was a huge bonus as we had 2 SUVs but still had room to play.
Milton is a beautiful quiet town. The house is located so close to town, everything was walkable. Everyone was friendly and the house felt very safe to stay in. We had fun!

We all loved the Suds and Sand home. It was very clean and tidy. Spacious so we werent getting in each other's way. The beds upstairs weren't very comfortable and not the sizes listed in the description. Other than that, we had a wonderful stay!

Milton is a great little town and the home was just right.

We stayed here with our 2 kids (age 9 and 6). The house is beautiful and had everything we needed. There is a grocery store close by for any necessities, an ice cream store right up the street, and some nice restaurants within a walkable distance or short drive. Milton itself is a quiet town but it’s within 20-30 minutes of Rehoboth, Dewey, and Lewes so we were able to fit a lot in during the day and come back to a quiet space in the evening. Would definitely recommend!

House has great location and is very comfortable. 20 minutes from Lewes beach. Great for family. Walkable distance to ice cream shop, cafe shop . Easy to reach the owner. Planning to go back.

An absolutely charming home in an adorable neighborhood. A few minutes walk to the little downtown with quaint shops, pubs, and The Milton Theatre. We loved our stay!!! What a fabulous rental. The family room is ideal for game-playing and being all together- the large TV was fabulous for watching March Madness :-). The kitchen is fully equipped, the bedrooms are comfy and pretty, and the bathrooms are modern and extremely clean. Check-in couldn't be easier! Thank you, John, for the perfect rental!! We definitely will be spreading the word about this gem in Milton, DE!!

The owner of the property is easy to communicate with. We did have questions about how things worked and they were answered immediately. It is a very old historic house and had the feel of an old bed and breakfast. Not our usual style of rental but we enjoyed our stay here. Reminded me of spending summers at a family country home.

We had a wonderful getaway with just a few glitches that the owner helped us to solve. The house is a one-of-a-kind place that offers loads of extras and plenty of comfort.

John was very easy to communicate with and ensured our stay was great. We had a great Christmas, spending the week here. It was pretty cool seeing the historical home and updates.

The house is beautiful and on a quiet street within waking distance of restaurants, bars, and Dogfish Head Brewery. Highly recommend and we will stay there again next time we're in the area.

What a wonderful, relaxing week with the family. We loved the historic vibe and location. John was a great host. If you're looking for a respite off the beaten path, this is the place for you.

The property was clean and the neighborhood was quiet. We enjoyed the walking proximity to downtown and the park. Driving distances to the beaches was not an issue and it was rather nice to return to the quiet. The house has a wonderful mix of history and modern conveniences and everything was provided to meet our needs. There was plenty of space for the 6 adults and 3 dogs to spread out or be together, whatever we wanted. The screened in porch as perfect for meals or games. We were especially pleased this comfortable house was pet friendly.

We had a wonderful stay and highly recommend this property. Everything was exactly what we needed.

The listing was in a quiet location with a few restaurants within walking distance. Beaches, restaurants, breweries and activities were only a short drive away. It's nice to be at the beach without the crowded feel of larger beach towns.

We were interested in staying in a historic property in a small town location. Suds and Sand was just as advertised. The renovation is a perfect blend of the old and new. The downstairs bedroom and upstairs were very accommodating. Air conditioning in first floor and upper floor worked very efficiently. Short trip to Broadkill beach if you wish to avoid the traffic to Rehobeth or Dewey. Only a 35-45 min trip with traffic anyway. Great choice will stay again in the future.. .

We really enjoyed our stay in Milton! It's a little town, but there are some great restaurants and this house is within walking distance of it all.
This house offered plenty of room for our family to enjoy time together, but also spread out when needed. (The 18 and 20 year old kids like to have some time alone). There is a nice fire pit in the backyard too, but we didn't have a chance to use it during the warm summer evenings.
We will consider returning.

The house was very clean and in the perfect location for us. Parking and check in was a breeze and on top of that, the host was incredibly quick to answer any questions or help in any way possible. When we come back we will absolutely be renting this location out again. Would highly recommend staying here!

The property was just wonderful. The kitchen was VERY well-stocked (with cooking equipment as well as cooking basics like oil, salt, spices, etc). We booked this as a "Reading Vacation," so the large sectional couch and the screened in porch were PERFECTION. There were so many local restaurants that we were able to walk to and enjoy (Dogfish Head Brewery, Tequila Real, King's Ice Cream) and the neighborhood was ideal for all our dog walks each morning and evening. We couldn't have asked for a better rental. Thank you so very much!

The beds were comfy. Quite neighborhood. Close to the beaches and attractions. Really enjoyed our stay. Great response time from John on any questions.

Enjoyed our stay. Lots of areas to walk to. Was a great spot for our annual golf trip with multiple courses and dogfish head right down the street.

I really hate leaving a bad review, and I was hoping the host would respond to my message, but since that hasn't happened, I feel like I need to at least share the feedback.
Communication with the host started out a little weird: I wanted to change the dates of my stay, which he was agreeable to, but he wanted to just make a verbal agreement on it instead of changing the dates in VRBO (I insisted on it and he did do it). The day before our stay, I emailed a few questions; he didn't respond, but my questions weren't urgent, so no big deal.
I really wanted to like the house. I understand it is a historical home in the process of being renovated, and that always comes with some quirks.
However, the air quality in the house was terrible, and the outside patio area (which was legitimately very cool) was covered in pollen and spiderwebs. The mildew was so bad that the whole family was coughing and had watering eyes.
We emailed the host to let him know about the issue and that we were checking out early. Three days later, he has not responded.
If you are looking for a place to crash with a large group, or you just enjoy a unique house and are not sensitive to allergens, you might love this place. It definitely has great potential, the surrounding town was super cute, and it's a 20 minute drive to Rehoboth. But for me, I'm sorry to say, it was not a great experience.

This was a very charming home. Plenty of room for all to enjoy.

We spent a week in this beautiful, restored home in historical Milton. The property was very clean and comfortable. We appreciated being able to have our two dogs with us. There was plenty of space to spread out. We loved the screened in porch off of the family room in back of the house, and the big, comfy couch. My sense is that the house itself is a continual work-in-progress, as any home that old will be. Be sure to look at the picture album of the dramatic restoration of the house! There were a few quirks, switches and outlets that didn't seem to work, but they didn't impact us much. The owner was very responsive by text message.
We loved the charming town of Milton! It's very walkable, friendly, and a short drive to the beach, Lewes, or Rehoboth. There are plenty of good shops and restaurants nearby. Check out Dogfish Head Brewery and Milton Dough Bar. Don't miss King's Homemade Ice Cream at the end of the block. If you want to be pampered, Carneiro Nails & Spa offers a good pedicure.

Historic home Was very nice and comfortable. Close to walk into town. Needs upkeep on out side deck screen doors and dog pen area. Overall very nice and had a good stay.

Great stay in a historic, charming home. Beautiful home within walking distance to great restaurants. This home has plenty of size and was very comfortable for me and my family- including the pups! Would definitely return.

The property was just as described, John called to be sure we had all the information we needed. We'd love to stay here again.

We loved the quirky house! The pictures and description don't come close to what a nice, eclectic place this is. Location is convenient to everything in the area. The thermostat stopped working and John fixed it very quickly. No problems so look no further than this place.

The house had everything you needed to stay!! Great place

Beautiful home right in the heart of Milton. You can walk to all the bars and restaurants and homemade ice cream right around the corner. Since it was just my wife and I we didn't even use the 2nd floor which has to nice sized bedrooms. The 1st floor had everything we needed. Loved the family room addition on the back of the home including screened in deck and firepit out back. Look forward to staying again. Beaches a short drive away.

Listing was accurate. Owner was accommodating and our friends and dogs all enjoyed the property.
