There is absolutely no reason to leave the property development. The view of the lake from the decks was peaceful and renewing. There are hiking trails to explore. The Lodge is set with a buffer of woodland and lake. We didn’t fish but fishing is supposed to be superb. There was room for everyone to have a bedroom and bath. The pool and club house were an added treat. Jim and April were accommodating and helpful. I would suggest that the kitchen needs a facelift. The fireplaces were wonderful with a plentiful supply of wood. Windows do need to be cleaned as well as window sills.

Enjoyed a perfect 4-day weekend trip with three other couples (all in our late 40s and early 50s) to the Lake Toxaway / Brevard area. The Lodge was everything we hoped it would be, with plenty of room for privacy for each couple, group cooking, and collective indoor hang time. Well-stocked kitchen that had everything we needed, master suites for every couple to enjoy (with two to spare), and tons of firewood to burn in the huge den fireplace, large lower-deck fireplace, and lake-side firepit. The outdoor space down by the water is what really made the trip special, as we spent every moment we could soaking in the beautiful and serene surroundings down by the water. We didn't see a single other person on the Catatoga property the entirety of our trip, so we truly felt like we had a whole state park to ourselves. Would happily and enthusiastically stay at the Catatoga Lodge again in the future. And plan to!

We enjoyed staying at the Lodge. We had a wonderful time with our children, grandchildren and family. The house is spacious and great for entertaining. The children enjoyed making smores. We hiked to a waterfall. The clubhouse and swimming pool is beautiful.
If you have any questions the property manager Jim is helpful.

Great family trip. No agenda. Just relaxing on the lake. Fantastic trout fishing in stream feeding lake. Great memories with the kids. Love the area!

The property was very nice and clean. With tons of space. Booking process was super easy and the property manager was easy to reach. The property is definitely away from the city so do all your Walmart runs prior to arriving. There is a Dollar General and a very good Mexican restaurant about 2miles or less away ! Overall loved the place and would recommend it to others

Beautiful scenery. Great location. Perfect for large group of adults to gather.

The house is ideal for a family gathering. It had everything we needed, was clean and comfortable and designed to allow our large group to move around comfortably. We stayed during the winter holiday season and that might account for the fact that there was a mouse living in one of the downstairs walls, and there were no amenities available. I would suggest that it is better for warm weather rental if you want the amenities.

Communication prior to check in was fantastic. April was quick to answer any questions I had. Jim was easy to reach to get our last-minute check in instructions. None of this could have been any easier.
Then WOW! From the moment we stepped in this beautiful lodge we were captivated by all the beauty around us! As my sister stated, “nobody loses with this cabin”. Six well appointed bedrooms all with their own bathrooms, throw in another couple of ½ baths for good measure. A living space on each of the 3 levels was icing on the cake!
The house was beautiful decorated, well maintained and clean. The beds were comfortable and the towels provided were nice quality. We had large family meals each night around the table and the kitchen sitting areas. Memories to last for a long time.
Coffee in the morning next to the fire on the lower level in the big lounge chairs was a wonderful way to get ready for a local hike.
The VIEW couldn’t get much better. It felt like we had the entire lake to ourselves. The family enjoyed kayaking, using the paddle boards as well as fishing in the lake. In the evening we ventured down to the firepit to enjoy the beauty of the moonlight along the lake along with laughs.
Our family meets each fall in the mountains for a getaway. We chose different locations in the Southeastern US. It is going to be hard for me to find another location and cabin that will even come close to this wonderful Lakeside Lodge.

We had a great time at the beautiful Lodge at Catatoga, celebrating a recent family marriage. The Lodge was larger than our needs, but on the other hand, we had plenty of space to spread out and relax. Even at full capacity, the house has ample comfortable lounging areas on every level, indoors and out. The house is secluded and it provided exceptional peace and quiet tranquillity that we all enjoyed. The lower level covered porch with fireplace was a favorite place to enjoy the view with morning coffee, afternoon rain showers and cocktails, or evening fires. We very much enjoyed Catatoga Lake for fishing, SUP and kayaking, hanging out on the dock, and walking the private trails. We also took advantage of the pool, and the hot tub (😍), as well as the pool table inside the clubhouse. The proximity to Lake Glenville was convenient for fishing and pontoon boat outings, and we took a day trip to Highlands. All in all, we loved our time together and the Lodge provided a great space for us to gather.

We were so excited about our trip to Lake Toxaway. The Lodge property was, at one time, no doubt a beautiful place. But due to poor cleaning upkeep and maintenance, it is a shame. The property manager is quite gnarly and no help. He acts as if you are a bother. Day one my daughter was in bed and looked on the bedside table and there was a mouse. We called and told Jim and he acted as if it was no big deal and had a old mouse trap dropped off at the front door. No knock or communication -just a mouse trap laying on the porch. I had called to ask about what in the world - he said what do you want me to do - over and over the same thing. As if the problem was mine not his. Later the next day a new mousetrap and sticky trap was delivered to our door.
Next morning we were going to shower and the towels hung in the bathroom were unbelievably stained and dingy and old. We threw them all in the tub and found some under the sink that were the same but we used anyway. The towels in all bathrooms were the same. Ick! The sheets on the master bed had blood stains and smelled soured. Everyone pulled sheets off beds and washed the second day. But the smell was also in the pillows and bedding. The house smelled musty and moldy. There were dehumidifiers in most rooms that filled and smelled. There were used air fresheners sitting all around. An obvious ongoing problem.
Day 2 brought the yellow jackets. When getting out of the shower there were 6-8 yellow jackets flying around the light fixtures and fan. This time I called maintenance and got Louis who was a really nice guy. Very personable. He looked around and got a ladder but didn't see anything even though he could see all the dead ones laying in the floor and tub. He said I don't see a nest so just keep an eye on them. ?!? So each day we showered with yellowjackets flying in our bathroom. It seems that they had been treated at some point as they would ultimately be dead on the counter and floor but new energetic ones the next morning.
The exterior of the home showed many hornet and bee nests and the beautiful bank of windows to the lake was dirty and cobweb covered. Sad.
We are frequent travelers, taking two family trips per year and have stayed at many nice properties. We paid 8K for this week and it was such a disappointment.
Lots of potential but in definite need of maintenance, deep cleaning and replacing of bedding, pillows, mats and towels.
Renter Beware!

House and setting were lovely. We almost felt like we were in paradise and no one else was around! Setting is so private and beautiful. We only ran into a few other people, but had access to a lovely pool, tennis, billiards, ping pong, boats and hiked to a lovely waterfall a mile or so from the house. Caught and released several fish, which kids loved. Expensive but worth it!

We would definitely want to come back to this house! We enjoyed the fire pit area for s'mores and breakfast by the lake with the company of many birds, fish, and other wildlife. We had good accessibility to the canoes, kayaks, paddleboards -= the kids had a great time and it was a good place for them to learn to paddleboard. The house worked well for having lots of people because there were plenty of gathering places and a large open main room. We appreciated the extra ice maker and little refrigerator. The beds were comfortable.

We spent a week with family that lives all over the SouthEast with an age range of 54 to 88. All of us were extremely happy with the home, the process, the area, everything! The home is on a beautiful lake with lots of outdoor seating so those that didn't want to venture out could still enjoy the outdoors while those up for a walk were able to access the waterfall area easily with short trek along the wide and relatively flat lake walkway.
When we needed help, the response was immediate and with smiles. Thank you so much for a perfect place for a much-needed reunion with our family!

The house is big and spacious. So happy we could bring our dog. We loved having three different locations to have a fire and hang out. We enjoyed the pictures and history around the house. The neighborhood is so private and has the most awesome trails and river that is a must see! Loved it!

Great place to relax and spend quality time with your family! I would say that we loved the old school off the grid feel of this home. Relaxing canoeing, fishing, hiking and we enjoyed the traditional fire places.

One of the best laid out cabins we have been to. Lots of space, loved the outdoor fireplace. We appreciated that the firewood was provided. Weather was excellent and we really enjoyed being so close to the water. Overall a wonderful experience!

My family and friends surprised my wife with a 30th birthday surprise at the Catatoga lodge in Indian creek in lake Toxaway, NC we enjoyed ourselves and we enjoyed the lodge. I plan on returning in the future to conduct some more fishing. I was lucky enough to stay a few nights where it mainly just rained. We were able to find some breaks in the rain or the last day to go to highlands, hike to some waterfalls and just escape from the urban lifestyle for a little bit. I highly recommend. The property manager is very responsive and their extremely helpful with any questions. I highly recommend.

What a great place. We arrived and were immediately mesmerized by the property. it is absolutely beautiful. The place is comfortable and spacious. The lake and scenery around the house are spectacular. We really enjoyed the hike to the nearby falls. The beads were awesome and very comfortable. This is a truly great property with very welcoming owners and property management. I highly recommend this place to your family and friends.

The property worked out great for our family. Bedrooms were plentiful with nice bathrooms. Very spacious great room/dining area which worked out great for family activities. Inside seemed clean. Windows and outside not so much. Many cobwebs and wasp nests on the building. Property mgr. was a real sour character with an unhelpful attitude. Neither ice machine at the house was working. When I contacted prop. mgr. about this and the inadequate TP, paper towels and other supplies at the house, he took care of it quickly but not without stopping by and giving me some attitude which I did not appreciate. This property is very remote so a trip to the grocery store is a significant time commitment. The pool is nice but we were fortunate there was pretty much no one else around. The area could be overwhelmed pretty quickly if there were many other guests.

We spent a lovely week in The Lodge at Catatoga in Lake Toxaway. The lodge was very clean and nicely appointed. Our family of 9 had plenty of room to spread out. We wanted for nothing and found management very helpful with the couple of issues we had. The clubhouse was a wonderful entertainment spot for all of us. We enjoyed playing pool, ping pong, and fooseball. We would recommend updating the work out equipment. The pool area was beautiful.

The house was huge and comfortable for 11 people. It was a little dark inside, but well stocked with everything you needed. Fitness center and tennis courts could use some up/grading.

We love our stay at the Lodge. It’s like being dropped into another world. Activities for all ages. Hiking, fishing, swimming, boating and trekking in the creeks. Tubing, gem mining and horseback riding nearby. Jim and his staff do a great job on the grounds and responding to any question or fix. We’ll be back for sure.

Read the other reviews to level-set your expectations and you will absolutely love the Lodge! We couldn’t imagine a more picturesque location for the Lodge. It feels very remote but is only 3 minutes from the main highway with easy access to many state and national parks, waterfalls, golf courses, and a handful of restaurants. The Lodge impressed in size and view; even the furniture was large to fit the scale of the building! The balconies were perfect to get a better view of the lake or stare up at a passing meteor shower --- the Lodge is only 30 miles from a certified Dark Sky area (PARI)! The three-floor format provided plenty of room to either gather together or spread out for some privacy, and we really appreciated not needing to share bathrooms. The house is stocked with cooking kitchenware and cut wood to enjoy in one of the three fireplaces/pits on the property – we especially loved the lower level deck for evening relaxation and toasted marshmallows!Lake Catatoga is a large pond/small lake that is filled with wildlife. We caught bluegill, bass, and trout and saw beavers and turtles in the lake. When it rained, the lake turned muddy, but within a day, it cleared up! We hired a guide from Headwater Outfitters for three hours --- definitely increased our catching 10x!To set expectations, there are a few things to note. The building’s location in the middle of nature leads to nature creeping in. You might notice a small insect or two in a corner or a new spider web in a window, and there was one particularly macho cardinal that made a valiant effort to fight his own reflection in a sliding door each morning during our stay. Some reviews mentioned a musty smell in the house, but we did not experience this at all despite having two rainy days. Also, the building is not a new build. The kitchen and the bathrooms are clean and updated, but the floors have wear and there were some dust bunnies on the furniture. The Lodge’s great room is very bright during a sunny day, but the overhead track lights do not work. The wood walls made the house feel quite dark; the lamps struggled to provide enough light for such a great room.In summary, if you are looking for a beautiful house in the middle of nature that provides a blend of comfort, space, and rustic mountain aesthetic, I don't think you can find a better spot. We loved our time at the Lodge. Special thanks to April for initial discussions and Jim for last-minute details!

The property is beautiful and clean. It was so nice to have the six separate living spaces that people could retire to in the evening, and the numerous central areas for everyone to gather and socialize. We ate all of our meals in, and the well stocked kitchen and dining area were perfect for that. We used the deck on the lower level every morning to watch the sun come up, and had a fire in at least one of the three fire places/pits every day. The other decks were great for sitting out during the day, and grilling in the evening. We had fun with the water activities (canoe, kayak, paddle boarding, fishing) and the trails around the lodge are beautiful. The nearby attractions were great (PARI, Sherwood Golf, Sapphire Golf, Llama Walk, Gorges State Park, and Rainbow Fall). We wanted to use the clubhouse facilities, but ran out of time...maybe next time! This was the perfect retreat for a long awaited vacation with family and friends. Thank you.
