About this house rental
After the devastating storm Helene hit Western NC, we are open for business as are many of the small surrounding towns and shops. We were fortunate to have been spared. Fall is coming in with beautiful color. It's a great time for hiking.
Our cabin is very very clean, immaculate. The beds are super comfy with memory foam for a good night sleep.
We have excellent internet service and wifi for calling anywhere in the world once you set your smart phone to wifi calling in settings. If you do not have that feature to turn on wifi calling in settings you may have to contact your provider to switch it on for you prior to your stay. This way you can stay connected to your family and friends while you are on vacation. We also have Roku tv with hundreds of channels.
If you are looking for a comfortable mountain getaway on a cold water creek, (over 1000 feet of cold water creek) come and enjoy the cabin on the creek at Maggie's Farm. Everything you want to see in Western North Carolina is close by. We are just 8 miles to the Blue Ridge Pkwy, 26 miles from Asheville and 12 miles to the quaint little college town of Brevard. This is our second CABIN ON THE CREEK the other cabin sleeps 4 and is listing # 7071666 please check it out and read the reviews. Enjoy sitting on the huge wrap around deck viewing and listening to the soothing sound of a rushing cold water creek and BBQing on the gas grill. Try your hand at fishing for native brown trout in Tucker creek for a tasty NC mountain supper or fish in the stocked rainbow trout pond on site. We are pet friendly and allow for max 2 dogs with a pet fee, restrictions apply. Please contact us.
This location is also great for a small elopement wedding by the rushing creek.
The cabin is very comfortable with everything you need, the kitchen is well appointed and has a door to the deck and BBQ. There is a firepit outside near the creek to enjoy the evening stars and smores.
It has three bedrooms and 2 baths split plan with a huge open eat in kitchen and living room, large master bedroom and bath with double sinks. Great for family fun. Enjoy playing in the creek out back and BBQ'ing on the huge Creekside deck. Search for semi precious stones in the creek and it has been said there is gold coming down the mountains in the creeks. The cabin sits on its own private acre of land on Tucker Creek. This is our second and our newest cabin at Maggie's Farm. We now can accommodate parties of 10 with 2 cabins, both on Tucker Creek, see our other cabin at #7071666 to combine 2 cabin rentals.
During the harvest season, you can pick blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries on the property. You can eat an entire meal from Maggie's Farm during harvest.
There is a master bedroom with a queen size bed and full bath with double sinks, shower and garden tub. The second bedroom has a queen size bed and has the hall bath with tub and shower, the third bedroom has 2 twin beds and uses the hall bathroom. The Blue Ridge Parkway is just 8 miles away where wild blueberries are growing in abundance. You can take the Parkway to Cherokee or Asheville and north to Blowing Rock. Transylvania County is known as "The Land of Waterfalls" there are over 250 waterfalls to hike and photograph. The Living Waters is just up the road with 5 beautiful waterfalls. It's also known for its pure white squirrels. Much of Transylvania is National Forest. Great for hiking, biking, and fishing. There are 3 lakes nearby Wolf Lake, Tanasee Creek Lake and Bear Lake. Tubes, kayaks, canoes can be rented locally at nearby The Headwaters Outfitters. You can book a fly fishing excursion through them as well.

We loved staying at Maggie’s farm. Jackie and mark were wonderful hosts. The only disappointment was that while it’s called Maggie’s Farm- there really is no farm.

Maggies Farm is a VERY clean and lovely property that is nestled in the mountains. The rushing from the bubbling creek provided for early morning relaxation while coffee sipping on the deck and we enjoyed watching deer feed in the field directly across the street.
My seven-year-old had a lot of fun playing in the creek and looking at the fish in the pond. The hosts were phenomenally hospitable and went above and beyond to provide our special needs son with the equipment he needed to make his stay better and more enjoyable.
We would definitely visit Maggie‘s farm again.

The cabin was cozy and comfortable. My kids loved playing in the stream behind the house. Mark and Jackie are wonderful hosts. We hope to visit again.

We had family coming to NC to visit in Balsam Grove. This was the perfect location and the perfect home rental. Three bedrooms and two bathrooms was perfect for six adults. Thank you Mark and Jacquie!

Maggie's Farm is perfect for a remote mountain getaway to rest and relax. The cabin is wonderful, and the outdoor space was a huge playground for our grandkids. One highlight was the stocked pond where our grandkids caught several trout and bluegill. Besides fishing, our five year old granddaughter loved playing in the clear, cold creek, and our four year old grandson loved playing tee-ball in the large flat backyard. We also enjoyed roasting marshmallows in the fire pit and feeding the cows.
The house was very comfortable and had a well-stocked kitchen. There was a large pantry for storing any food items that you bring. There was plenty of room for the five of us. The heating and air conditioning worked well, as did the wi-fi.
The waterfalls in the area are beautiful. We drove to different ones each day, but the ones at Living Waters are exceptional without having to drive far.
Mark and Jacquie are amazing hosts. They are like friends and want you to have the best stay possible. They made sure that every need and request was met.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and hope to stay again sometime.

Had a great girls vacation with my friends and our dogs. This cabin was the perfect size for the three of us, and it was in a great location for taking day trips to see different waterfalls. Jackie was very nice and let us extend our stay one more day since our Smokey Mountain outing was rained out the day before we were to leave. We loved our time there.

We had a great stay at Maggie's Farm. Mark, the owner, went above and beyond to make sure that we enjoyed our stay. My son picked the house because he wanted to catch trout, and it did not disappoint! He caught fish on the pond and on the stream that runs on the property, as well as on the Davidson River which is 30 min. away. You have cell service in the house while on wi-fi, but there is no cell service outside of the house, which was nice for a change. We had a great meal in Brevard one night and grilled at the house on the second night. Grill works great. The road to get there is very curvy, so the 12 miles to get there from Brevard takes 30 minutes, so you want to prepare before you go. It is remote, and a wonderful place to unplug. Beautiful setting, well-stocked house, and a great host!

Our family spent 3 nights here in July and my only regret is not staying longer! The cabin was clean, comfortable, and spacious - perfect for our family of 5 (3 kids ages 9, 11, 14). Our kids loved the creek (tip: bring water shoes) and we had a great time exploring the Blue Ridge Parkway and many nearby waterfalls. During our down time we enjoyed some of the games they had at the cabin. The hosts were lovely and even gave us delicious fresh veggies from their garden! We would absolutely recommend this cabin and would love to return here ourselves!

We enjoyed eating outside on the deck listening the relaxing sounds of the creek. Our daughter caught fireflies at dusk and played in the creek every day.
The cabin is comfortable and clean in a great location for exploring nearby waterfalls and Pisgah national forest.

Maggie’s cabin is a lovely place to stay. The cabin is so well stocked and has everything you need. Everything is so clean and comfortable. And most of all Mark and Jacquie are lovely hosts. They are so prompt and helpful and hospitable and helped us with anything we needed. They gave us recommendations about places to go and we had brought our dogs and Mark and Jacquie let us walk though their lovely farm.
We had a great time! We will definitely go back.

We enjoyed our stay at Balsam Grove. The cabin is spacious and clean. There is a little stream that flows next to the cabin. My teen boys enjoyed panning for gold with the pans provided by the owner. There is a trout fishing run on the property (fyi no catch and release and bring a very sharp filet knife if chose to keep). There is a river about 5 min down the road that we caught beautiful trout. There is a pasture across the street that is beautiful to look at in the morning with deer, turkey, and cows.
*the internet is touch and go. If very cloudy outside it shuts off. It forced my teens to find other activities which was a blessing in disguise.

It was a great little property in a peaceful valley outside Brevard NC, about 30-40 minutes from town. The owners, who live on the farm, were very friendly and helpful and made the stay at one of their rental properties very comfortable. The property itself was clean and comfortably furnished. We took our dog with us and she absolutely loved the creek and the front yard. There was no cell service but they did provide internet which was helpful with staying connected. I highly recommend the property.

The cabin by the creek at Maggie's Farm was just the right fit for our family. Everything was spotless when we arrived. It was by far the cleanest and most well stocked cabin we've ever rented through Vrbo. We always spend time hiking on this trip, and you are within easy driving distance of several state & national parks. Mark & Jacquie are delightful people and were so quick to take care of any need that we had. We will be sure to look them up again when staying in the area. This cabin helped our family to make wonderful memories.

My family had the best time at Maggie’s Farm! Mark and Jacquie were the kindest hosts and made this a trip we will never forget. Everything went smoothly - from the checkin/out process, to having a super clean cabin that had everything we needed. I work as a retreat chef and was pleasantly surprised that our cabin had everything I needed to prepare our Thanksgiving meal. While we stayed at the farm we checked out some hikes nearby (Living Waters, Courthouse Falls, Triple Falls, High Falls, and we walked the road of 140), and were amazed at the beauty in NC. While visiting DuPont State Park we checked out Brevard and enjoyed walking downtown. Mark and Jacquie also let my kids (3, 5, 7, almost 9) feed the cows across the street, and helped my kids learn to fish. My son caught his first fish and will remember it forever. We came as strangers but left feeling like we made lifelong friends. My kids are already asking when we will go back.

We loved our visit and the cabin met all of our needs. We knew if there was anything we needed we could just ask the hosts as they were extremely friendly and accommodating. Mark even facilitated a special visit with the cows for us. Easily caught trout for dinner too. Would definitely stay at the farm again.

We absolutely loved it. The family gives you everything you need and more. Peace and quiet and beautiful views. Waking up to a colorful indoor fire with cows/farm life off the front porch is enchanting. Having a local pond to fish in just adds even more value if you are unable to catch anything in the local rivers. Beautiful waterfalls and hiking is nearby.

My wife and I stayed at Maggie's Farm for 8 nights and what a wonderful place it is. The location was perfect for us- out in solitude of this beautiful part of the country but only 30 minutes from the Parkway, Brevard and the Pisqua National Forrest. A little furthur to Hendersonville and Waynesville.
So about the Farm -
Squeaky clean, nice comfortable sleeping and living area and fully equipped Kitchen and baths. Wifi, TV and Board games. A great wrap around deck with views of the Hills and next to the beautiflul creek flowing.
The Grounds are lovely with flowers and Vegetable Gardens, a trout pond full of nice big and hungry Rainbow Trout, walking areas and places to sit and take in the good life and "get away" from the stress and pace of city life.
But what puts it all together and sets this place above other Vacation Rentals are the Host - Mark and Jacquie. If you were thinking of owning a vacation rental you would want to model these Super Hosts! They respond lightning fast to questions, inquiries or the like. They greeted us with a basket of fresh Vegetables, showed us a few thing about the cabin and immediately made us feel at home while respecting our privacy. Great tips on off the beaten path trails, views, waterfalls, etc. Mark gave me some pointers on catching a trout and even brought me some cheese (yes cheese!) for bait. After I caught a nice one, plenty for dinner, he showed me an area to clean and filet the trout. I had to cook it myself :(. Next day he provided me with some equipment to pan for gemstones and I actully found a nice size garnet but came down with "gold feaver". While I looked for treasures my wife visited Jacquie's Studio where she purchased some beautiful Sterling creations hand crafted be Jacquie.
So there are plenty of things I could say but I will save them for our next review as be booked the cabin for another week in October!! See you then Friends, Wayne & Andrea

We spent a wonderful, relaxing week at Maggie's Farm.
The house was very clean - I usually avoid properties that allow pets because of allergies, but that was not a problem here. The view is so nice, the creek is very close to the house and a wonderful place to play for the kids. We enjoyed the firepit in the evening and walking around the property during the day. So many flowers and so many butterflies! Loved our stay so much!

Great location and great hosts. My mother was from this area so I have relatives here. I come back the first Sunday in August every year for Decoration day At Shoal Creek Baptist Church. This house worked well for us. Clean, kitchen was equipped well. Easy access. Hosts were super friendly and very helpful. We made new friends

Maggie’s Farm is everything you are looking for to build lifelong family memories. The hosts are incredible. They gave us tips into the best trails & shared their bounty of fresh veggies with us. Our three kids & two dogs spent hours in the creek, caught lightning bugs, ate s’mores, watched the stars & went for hikes in the area. Next time we will make sure we leave enough time to fish on the property as well. The cabin was well furnished, comfortable & the kitchen was well stocked. Our kids & dogs came in tired & happy every night. We will be back!

The best of the best!
I thought my husband was accidentally pulling into the owner's driveway instead of our rental when we arrived because it was so beautiful I thought it had to be a mistake. I have never seen such attention to beauty in a guest house before, inside and out. It's worth the drive just to see the flower beds and their garden. When you add to that a mountain valley, a crystal flowing stream, genial hosts and a beautifual home its impossible not to have a wonderful time no matter the weather. We did hike some of the waterfalls nearby, and we're glad we did, but our 4 children loved the stream so much that they were content to stay at the farm where there's plenty of "scope for the imagination." I literally burst into tears our first afternoon because I was so overwhelmed by the beauty and peace of the surroundings and gratitude that Mark and Jacque were willing to share their home with our family.
The house is comfortable, bright, clean, and well supplied with absolutely everything we needed for an unforgettable experience as a family, but so many extras were included to make us feel welcome and at home. The floor plan is perfect, the furniture is comfortable and the bed afforded a better night's sleep than I know at home.
The notebook is WELL DONE! Every owner has their own context that will change rules and checkout procedures etc. Everything was clearly explained and easy to follow. All of Mark's instructions were great. The house is very easy to find if you follow his directions. I can get lost climbing out of a paper bag and even I was able to manage it without any difficulty.
Outside we loved sitting on the deck in the shade and listening to the stream, walking around and enjoying the flowers, watching the wildlife, and splashing in the stream. Our youngest daughter caught her first fish In the pond. The rainbow trout are massive and we enjoyed it grilled within an hour of catching it. It may not seem possible to find a place this perfect but it really is! Mark and Jacque appear to be those rare souls who sincerely love what they are doing. The beauty of what they have created is an overflow of their love for each other. They were easy to engage, accommodating in every way and a PLEASURE to get to know. We can't thank them enough and ache to return!

Relaxing stay on the farm
My partner and I along with my soon to be 17 year old son and two dogs enjoyed our stay on the farm. The hosts are fantastic and friendly and the pond and stream provide entertainment. The visibility of stars at night is amazing and we hope to return soon!

Comfortable and cozy at Maggie's Farm
We had a wonderful time celebrating Thanksgiving in North Carolina at Maggie's Farm. We had the pleasure of staying in Cabin #2 for a week. It was the perfect size and very clean and comfortable. The owners Mark and Jacquie were so friendly and treated us like family. It was also very dog friendly and our dog made best friends with their dogs, who were very friendly as well. It was a great location, close to the Blue Ridge Parkway and so many beautiful sights. We highly recommend Maggie's Farm in Balsam Grove, N.C

Maggie's Farm
Our stay at Maggie's Farm was awesome. The property is beautiful. It was me with 4 teens and our dog. The boys loved fishing in the pond and we enjoyed some yummy trout they prepared. The cabin had everything one could possibly need and was impeccably clean. Owners were very responsive and immediate as well with communication before and after our stay. We had a great time exploring the area and we were very comfortable in the cabin. We cooked most of our nights and loved sitting on the porch watching the fireflies and little bats flying around at dusk every night. It is a very peaceful and beautiful place.

Beautiful farm stay in the mountains
This has been one of our most enjoyable stays! Jacquie and Mark are the most kind and generous hosts. They showed us around the farm and treated us to fresh vegetables after we were settled in. They were available for anything we need but provided most essentials. They gave great tips about some fun spots in the area to check out. Our 5 year old daughter got to feed the fish in the pond, and then caught a fresh trout for lunch. We were able to make several great meals from fresh veggies picked from the farm, and got any extra groceries needed nearby, so we did not have to pack a lot of food. The sheep are no longer there, but we did enjoy watching the cows across the street. We will definitely stay on this property again and are so grateful to our hosts for helping us make it such a memorable stay.

Great cabin & pet friendly
We loved our stay. Cabin is very clean and great floor plan. Everything we needed was there. We went to Living Waters waterfalls which is wonderful. We enjoyed fishing on the property and at other local areas. Mark and Jackie are very welcoming and pointed us to some of the local fishing areas. Our dog had her best vacation ever. The yard is fenced on three sides, stream is the fourth side. We were able to let her off leash to explore on her own with supervision .

Maggies Cabin
Great stay! Jackie and Mark were great! They were very helpful. Cabin was relatively close to Brevard (30 min). We didn't mind the drive as the scenery was pretty. Pretty much just used this as base since we hiked most of the weekend but a nice comfortable stay. We would definitely stay here again.

Respite on Maggie's Farm.
We enjoyed our stay at Maggie's Farm. Mark and Jacquie were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed relaxing on the porch, listening to the peaceful sounds of the creek, just steps from the house after hiking the many trails in the area. Jacquie even made us some fresh strawberry/rhubarb preserves. Everything we needed was supplied. Jacquie also added special touches, including a greeting card for my birthday and marshmallows for roasting by the fire out back. The Living Waters was a fun place to enjoy a short hike and several waterfalls about 5 minutes away from the farm.

Fun farm getaway
Jacquie and Mark were wonderful hosts, and their lovely cabin is a spacious and clean oasis from the city. The landscape is beautiful and you have sheep out the back windows and neighboring cows out the front! There is plenty of yard to run around in, if you have kids, and we really enjoyed roasting marshmallows (waiting for us upon arrival) on the fire pit. We did not fish while we were there, but that was another fun offering. The mountain view and sounds of flowing water right on the property made for a very relaxing stay.
The cabin is large with plenty of room for a family. The kitchen comes equipped with all of the dishes, pans, and utensils you’ll need. The beds were comfy. They had board games to play. We couldn’t have asked for anything more. It was a much-needed break from reality and one we would happily return to again and again.
