To anyone looking for a place in Truckee CA. Please do not waste your time and money here. Not only did this cabin smell like old mildew, it was not very comfortable. The furniture is very old and disgusting. I was afraid to touch anything. I had to purchase sleeping bag for the beds. Also the beds are tiny. Not the size listed on the website. And they charge over $250 for cleaning but they make you clean the place, empty garbages and start a load of laundry for towels and sheets. I did not touch the towels or sheets they looked and smelled 100 years old and I still had to wash them before we left. I was incredibly upset that I rented this cabin. The previous reviews must be friends of the owners. Do not rent this cabin. Needs upgrade and to be cleaned.

House is in a beautiful location. Nice size. Beautiful granite countertops, picture windows, and wood floors. Maintenance issues. Furniture, including beds are old and uncomfortable.

Even though I rented over the holidays I expected that for the price of a night at the Four Seasons the place would be habitable. Not so. No working internet - found that out 5 min before arriving by call from Tahoe Truckee Vacation Rental (TTVR). On entering discovered 10 of 11 light bulbs in kitchen, 3 of 5 in dining room and about half the bulbs elsewhere in the house were smashed in their sockets, burned out or missing. TTVR sent guy out to replace promptly but he put in LED lights that buzzed and made the place feel like a cheap diner. We just used candles. The kitchen Pergo floor was bubbling up in multiple large areas making walking a disorienting experience. Garage looked like set from Saw III, so we did not use it. The beds were almost unusable and the sheets were poly blended and seemed about 20 years old; my daughter said it felt like sleeping on dirty towels as they were so pilly. The mattresses were covered in plasticized pads that crunched when laid upon. The pillows were similarly awful. Our first night a bat crawled out of the wall behind the head of my bed and terrorized the family until I trapped it in a small room - it vanished by morning. TTVR said it was typical of mountain homes to have guests like bats which we disputed, requesting a move to a new property. Denied. They sent a pest abatement guy out the next day who "found no evidence of bats". I did my own bat check and found hoards of rodent feces in the kitchen, on the floors, and most disturbing, in my bed, where they had apparently been making a nest in the aforementioned mattress pad. Despite pics of said feces and holes in walls, they refused to move us or refund our money. Contacted VRBO who was sympathetic but said they offer no guaranteed consumer protection & that nothing could be done unless we filmed the bat to prove we weren't lying about it. We gently threatened legal action if anything happened to us (bite, rabies, Hanta virus infection, etc) at which point TTVR found us a truly great alternative after which our vacation took a turn for the better. Guessing VRBO talked to TTVR to get ball moving. We did get to video a 2nd bat the evening we moved out of that hell hole. Totally shocked it was ever on rental market. Apparently rented for years but no reviews posted (possibly removed by TTVR or VRBO?). Guest book has all comment pages torn out post-2013. I thank both VRBO and TTVR for making it right in the end but shame on them for renting this dump at all..
