Loved the hot tub!

Perfect house for our girls trip. Plenty of room to spread out and everyone had a bed. If you enjoy a country setting, this is the place for you.
The owner does meet you there at check in which is not something I am accustomed to having stayed in many rental properties, but they are very nice and helpful. Would stay here again.

Our group of ladies (in our 30s/40s) LOVED this property! Scenic setting, very comfortable and well stocked. We enjoyed the hot tub and made good use of the grill and game room. Highly recommend to anyone considering. We talked about coming back next year!

Great property for our 3 college friends annual weekend trip with husband and 5 kids ages 6-1 1/2 years old. We explored , enjoyed hot tub and went swimming at owners club. Plenty of seating and really enjoyed grilling and eating out on the deck

This was the second time we have been on this property, and it’s hard to decide what’s better - this house, or being on the ranch. Our kids brought their teenage friends, and they never ran lot of things to do - wiffle ball, soccer, visiting animals, hiking around the ponds, volleyball - and of course the basement game room is beyond belief with ping pong, pool and pop a shot. The great fire pit, hot tub and gigantic deck top it all off. Joe the ranch hand was yet again a wonderful guide - we hope to come back and stay again!!

We enjoyed a long weekend. Kids loved taking walks and had a great day at the pool.

So many great features on this property you never would even have to go anywhere else! Disc golf, 9 hole golf, soccer field, full size baseball diamond, fishing pond, animals, the list goes on. The house had beautiful views, plenty of space, awesome game room and a hot tub. Easy communication with the owner. Would definitely recommend this property.

Great quiet location, beautiful property with a lot of trails and things to see. Not far from the clubhouse and downtown Galena. Highly recommend for any family or group.

The place was perfect for us. More than enough beds for everyone. The owner even set us up with tee times and got us a discount on a great course. Theres onsite golf grounds that you can play or use for practice. Great place to get away with it all

We have gone to this property, staying at different houses, several times now. It’s quickly become a family favorite thanks to the gorgeous views and abundance of stuff to do at the property itself. We had a few friends and their kids join this time and had the best time! Everyone enjoyed walking the trails, seeing the animals, making s’mores over a fire, playing volleyball, playing cowboy golf and again, those views!! The house is perfect with the game room for the kids too, and the hot tub for the adults to hangout! Highly recommend!! It’s a short drive to downtown Galena too, so easy to explore and grab ice cream if you do want to leave and do something. (Tons more to do in the area too, we are always just so busy and happy at the ranch we don’t leave for much, which is perfect for us with the young kid chaos we have 😉)

Very beautiful place, very scenic and quiet place. We had 9 people and never felt crowded. Would have no problem going back or recommending to other friends. Very easy to check-in.

The house was clean and comfortable, with terrific views. We had 2 families of 4, but there were a lot beds and we could have had at least one other family comfortably. The game room has ping pong, billiards and a pop a shot. The hot tub was great apres ski! The owners were kind and helpful. Very positive experience. Thank you!

The property has a beautiful location, but it doesn't seem like this property is being maintained very well. It was pretty rustic and lacked some of things I have some to expect in rentals (shampoo, conditioner, soap, towels, information booklet, etc). Also the coffee pot wasn't working (though they replaced in on the second day), the WIFI was a hot spot that wasn't turned on when we arrived (with no instructions on how to do so), etc. Probably the most disappointing part was the gross hot tub that was very cloudy and we didn't feel good about getting in. It was the reason we picked this place. They couldn't get it fixed in time for us to use it.

It is a fantastic property with exceptional views and trails. House had plenty of space available for multiple familes on a holiday weekend. Basement game room entertained the kids. Upstairs kitchen and family room worked great for thanksgiving dinner, Sunsets were spectacular.

We had a great time. The location is beautiful and the ranch offers a lot of extras like hiking and animals. The house was very comfortable. All questions were quickly responded to and check in and out was a breeze.

Beautiful home! Lots of space! Owner and Joe the ranch hand so friendly! My son had an amazing birthday with family! Would def be back!!

The house and ranch lead to a memorable trip! Thank you to Joe for the tour of the ranch!

We had a great and unique vacation experience here. It was the perfect size for 3 sets of adults and 6 kids. We loved the homemade golf course, frisbee golf course, animals, baseball diamond, apple trees, and hiking trails. The kids also made use of the pop-a-shot, pool table, and ping pong table. Joe was extremely welcoming and we loved the atv tour of the property. Overall, we had the most memorable vacation yet.

This house was great, plenty of room for our whole family. The kids spent a lot of time outside and it was easy to keep an eye on them from the deck. The views were amazing, especially the sunsets, and the stars after dark. We very much enjoyed the golf and the kids loved visiting the animals. Those of us that were hikers enjoyed the trails. After all the little ones were in bed the adult children spent their nights relaxing in the hot tub. There is so much more to experience here than we had time for.

This property was amazing. Tuna of space, beautiful view, lots of trails to explore.

The property was amazing. The views of the rolling countryside were peaceful. The ranch had a lot to offer outside with disc golf, multiple fishing ponds, hiking trails, animals. Inside the ranch there was a hot tub, pool table, ping pong table, and grill on the deck. The family loved the rec center 10 minutes away with indoor pool, outdoor pool, basketball courts, gym, food court, etc. Galena was a 20 minute drive away.
There were some upkeep and cleanliness issues in the ranch inself. One of the guests saw a mouse in the house. There were mouse droppings in the cupboards, and food kept on the counter had signs of mice gnawing through ziplock bag to get to the food. The hot tub had an algae smell and water was greenish. The screened in porch had lots of breaks in the screen. None of the ping pong paddles were functional with padding falling off them. There were not a lot of vegan friendly restaurants in Elizabeth, and most of the kitchens of restaurants in Galena close at 8 PM, so eating was a hassle some days.

House has plenty of room for family’s to not feel on top of each other’s, young children loved playing in the yard - plenty of room for them!! Would defiantly stay here again!

Overall the house and amenities they’re in or just fine the listing indicated there was a burn pit which was actually a brush pile and cannot be used and a charcoal grill was said to be on site but was not for the owner there is some maintenance that is required on the Ridgeline of the roof above the garage some of the doors stick and refrigerator shelve Needs to be replaced. The caretaker needs to respond to phone calls or messages left while people are in residence. Big thank you to Mark for doing all the legwork to get us a teetime at Eagle Ridge had a great time.

Nice home and views. Joe, the property manager was friendly and great. A good place for a family or a 2-3 couples to get together to unplug. Really nice place if you are looking to be out of the way.

We had a great time nestled away at this tranquil piece of property in Galena countryside. The views was my favorite part! The house had everything we needed and some! Very clean and comfortable beds. Soaking in the hot tub was heaven!
Only issue was some of the light bulbs had burned out and the dishwasher didn’t work. We just washed dishes by hand. No biggie. Joe stopped by at the end of our stay and we did notify him of these things then. He appreciated us telling him and he was very pleasant. We all wished we would have booked a longer stay to check out more of the ranch! We will likely be back with our families next time to enjoy everything it has to offer. Thanks Mark for letting us enjoy your home!

Wife and I traveled from Chicago with our 3 kids (4-9yrs) and loved this ranch. 300 acres is an experience! Fed/pet horses every day, fished in two ponds, hiked remote yet somehow beautifully maintained paths through woods and open ranch hills by cows, had our own golf course and baseball field! And all within easy walks from the house even for a 4 year old.
Indoor pool, ping pong, pop shot kept everyone entertained, kids loved bunkbed basement, spacious living room and kitchen with incredible views and natural light.
We met and texted with Joe the ranch hand a couple times, very friendly and informative. Mark the owner was always quick to respond. Some confusion about our reservation after we left, and though we didn't get a response from Mark he was generous and customer-friendly so no complaints. Unusual for vaca rental to not provide house guide, but the actual check-in/out procedures were the most convenient/least stress we've ever experienced, a major bonus to not have to clean the entire house (that's what the cleaning fee is for) like many vrbo owners require. Another review mentioned box elder and ladybugs...yes, there were plenty but they generally stayed near a few windows and are the most harmless bugs I can think; importantly, the house was very clean and well sealed, it's just nature! As others stated, Wi-Fi very slow (2mbs) but my T-Mobile connection was very strong and hotspot powered Roku TV for the kids.
We have booked 8 different cabin/remote house vacations in the last couple years in 4 Midwest states...this was THE BEST. Thanks to Joe and Mark. Hope we'll be back!

This was our second visit to the Fish Tale property. We love the layout of the house and the view. The hot tub is a great addition and there are so many other things to do. We walked the trails, checked out the pond, saw the animals and played baseball. A quick drive into Galena and we shopped and had some great meals. Mark and Joe were great to work with. They are very attentive. Highly recommend!

We needed a weekend away and found solitude here. Trails around the property are fun to explore. Pool table, pop-a-shot, and ping pong in the basement are tons of fun. Great room is full of windows and sunset is brilliant. Hot tub is screened in and definitely four seasons. Close enough to Galena, but far enough you feel removed. You will love it!

Perfect setting for a family spring break.
Lots of hiking and unusual sites around the acreage to find. Kids loved it. And also the pool table, ping pong and basketball kept them pretty busy. We thought it would be even better in the summer. Joe the property manager responded promptly to any questions and issues. And gave us activity suggestions… close enough to town and for shopping and far enough away from the crowded galena streets… we hope to go back!

The photos are accurate and the views are impressive. The house is in a beautiful location and the silence is remarkably awesome. There are many trails to wander on and explore, and plenty to do with children as well. Nearby there's a pumpkin patch and u-pick fruit place, which is wonderful. Galena town is ~20-25 minutes drive away. The issues/points to mention are:
1) At least during our stay, there was an infestation of boxelder bugs. While they're harmless, my family didn't expect to contend with the shear number swarming inside the house; maybe if we were camping, but not when paying $500+/night. I personally removed 30+ over our 4-night stay. Other cleanliness issues included finding an old pacifier on the floor from a prior guest, many flies (fortunately, there's a fly swatter!), and dozens of dead grasshoppers.
2) The "wireless internet" is a 4g Verizon hotspot, which is good for little more than emailing, when it works (which isn't often). To the extent you expect to do any material amount of work or need to connect to a zoom call, do not count on it. In 2021, I think this should be disclosed, especially with the rise of remote work.
3) The kitchen is poorly stocked (it lacks measuring cups, for example), so, to the extent you need anything for cooking aside from pots/pans, I suggest you bring.

Thoroughly enjoyed our time at this home- slept 10 more than comfortably, used the kitchen for most meals. Kids enjoyed pool table and ping pong. All throughly enjoyed walking the 300 acres, playing “cowboy golf,” watching spectacular sunsets, and going for long runs on quiet country roads. We’ll be back!

Fun space for little ones to run and burn off energy.

My friends and I have an annual tradition of getting together and renting a place for labour day weekend, we’ve been doing it for the last 10 years and we all agree that this home was the best one. The house was fantastic, more that enough beds for the 12 of us, we probably could’ve even had 2 more people and still been good. Mark and Joe were very attentive, they’d check in to make sure everything was ok, take surplus trash we had. The view from the porch was beautiful, the basement had ping pong, billiards and a basketball game that we used quite a bit. We would definitely stay here again.

Our family celebrated my husbands milestone birthday at this house. The house actually exceeded the explanation online. It was a perfect floor plan for our size group gathering. Every room was spacious and very clean. The game room was a big hit. It was a perfect setting. The views all around were stunning. So much outdoor beauty to look at, and miles of trails to walk and explore. Joe was the bonus. So warm and helpful. He stopped by the second day to answer a question about directions for a hike and he remembered the kids names. Wonderful man. We would all love to go back.

The house and location was gorgeous! Plenty of trails to be able to walk around and an amazing home base to relax. We will definitely stay longer next time!

Beautiful Property. Plenty of room for 11 of us. Great trails for hiking. Loved the Ping pong and Pool. Much fun was had by all.
