Montorgueil, a pedestrian district To enjoy the excitement of Paris, far from cars and close to major monuments, the Montorgueil district is an excellent choice. A very lively area of Paris less known than the surrounding areas. However, it is one of the busiest in the capital. The busy cultural and commercial activity of the surrounding areas is such that the streets are one after another being integrated into the networks of a neighboring district or another. Nevertheless, this is where everyone comes to walk and do their shopping. A large pedestrian area in the 1790s, the charm of the local streets combines with that of many shopping streets. The district is surrounded by the Saint-Eustache church and Les Halles, rue du Louvre, Rue Réaumur, and boulevard Sébastopol. The buildings are concentrated in the narrow streets, perfect for sitting at a table on the many terraces. Promenades à Bonne-Nouvelle Strolling from one store to another, be sure not to miss the entrance to the symbolic passage of the Grand-Cerf, rue Saint-Denis, a shopping arcade with a high glass roof and is listed as a historical monument. A remnant from the first half of the 19th century that survived the Haussmann-style metamorphosis and lamented by Aragon in The Peasant of Paris, it's a part of the enrichment of social life and the neighborhood's atmosphere. On Rue Etienne Marcel, curiosity takes you to the Tower of Jean Sans Peur, one of the last vestiges of the Middle Ages in Paris. The tower is built on the ramparts of Philip II Augustus and was part of the Hotel of the Dukes of Burgundy. Rue Saint-Denis is a symbol of Paris. It was known as the red light district for many years but it is now undergoing transformation, and traditional shops are appearing. Learn Montorgueil Montorgueil is a very lively area and has a particularly good metro service: line 4 races at Les Halles, Etienne Marcel and Reaumur Sevastopol, where it crosses the line 3, which also leads to the station Sentier. At the Châtelet station, you can take the RER A, B and D. In terms of shopping, Montorgueil has everything you need: small convenience stores, bakeries, general food stores, and, of course, a wide choice of restaurants.

We had a wonderful stay in Paris. The location was great. We had 2 families so the layout was ideal. I would definitely stay there again.

The apartment was actually two adjoined apartments, which worked perfectly for our large family party of seven. We had room to spread out but also have some privacy - the young ones were on one side and adults in the other. Being able to make some meals in the kitchenettes in the apartments was very handy, especially as cafes don’t open as early in Paris as they do at home, and having a laundry was great. The location was perfect - we walked to the Louvre area several times and there were lots of restaurants close by and a metro station or two. The place itself was very charming; although obviously not the most modern apartment it was very homey and I enjoyed the character and feel of the place. Perhaps a lamp in the ‘red’ apartment would be nice to avoid having to put the overhead light on. I would definitely recommend it for large family groups.

We had an amazing stay. There were five of us, including our teenage son. David and Isabel were wonderful. Check in was very easy. The apartment is in a quiet neighborhood and with wonderful cafes. It’s located near major sightseeing locations. In the mornings, we enjoyed walking to get pastries and taking them back to the apartment to savor. We would explore Paris during the day, find a cafe for dinner and then return to the apartment to relax. The beds are so comfortable and the sleeping rooms are quiet. It is just like the description and pictures show. There were sitting rooms and well supplied kitchens. We were able to do laundry which was very helpful during travel. I highly recommend this property!!

This was our family’s first trip to Paris and we picked this historic older apartment bc it had the right amount of beds, bathrooms with toilets, and living space. There’s 4 BRs, 2 BAs, 2 LRs, 2 kitchenettes. We had read all the apt’s reviews and felt this would work for us (5 adults), bc we wanted to be able to be together, and not crammed into 2 small hotel rooms. For the price we paid we were really happy with this lovely older building. Granted, the rooms were smaller than the photos show but the windows are nice; and the beds were decent and comfortable along with the blankets and pillows. We ate out each day at the local patisseries and cafes, all within walking distance of the apt. The Monoprix was across the street, and we went every day to pick up water and other essentials. There were plenty of lights in the ceiling, and we could control the heat (we went from 12/28-1/3), and had good Wi-Fi. Note that the apt (there are 2 small apts as 1 unit) is up one flight of curved stairs from ground level and we did not use the elevator (extremely small). On our 4th day we finally found the light switch for the hallway, LOL! That was helpful bc, in wintertime it is dark in the morning until 8:30, and gets dark around 17:00. The showers were a bit of a surprise; the black and white one shown in the photos is quite tight; and the grey beige one was large but showering was a challenge bc of the showerhead and short curtain which allowed water to get on the bathroom floor. But there was plenty of hot water and the apt has lots of towels. If you want a fresh towel everyday, there’s a washer/dryer combo unit that was a little difficult to figure out, only bc we are not fluent in French. The apt is in a safe and secure area, the one BR faces the street so there is city noise, but the rest of the rooms are quiet. Isabella, the property manger was very helpful, before we came she answered all our questions, helped with all our requests and was extremely nice to meet us before the check in time, as we arrived before 16:00. The Metro stations are right down the street and we literally were at the museums and other tourist attractions within minutes each day! Overall, this was a great trip and Isabella and David were generous and accommodating; and this lovely apartment made our first trip to Paris enjoyable and comfort and perfect for us.

The apartment was somewhat grim, poor air circulation, lights didn't work all the time. Kitchens limited. No ovens, no temp regulation. manager couldn't speak English. very confusing. I guess thats what you have to pay for a apartment for 7 in good location in Paris but thought for $9K for 8 days it could have be more modern and crisp.

David is an excellent host and did a great job with everything. He is one of the reasons we were able to get out of France before the lockdown. He even offered to give us another week in the future to make up for our shortened spring break. Even though the circumstances were not ideal with covid-19 it was a perfect location and we can't wait to come back and enjoy the best of Paris.
