Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The gym was divided into men's and women's area however the women's area was disappointing. Very few weights, no squat rack and lackluster. The hotel was centrally located to restaurants and shops

Every detail was perfect!

This room was so sad and right behind the elevator! When I took a shower the water backed up. Called the front desk to clear and the next morning still backing up. The window in the room had black duck tape closing the window, mold on the ceiling in the bathroom. The carpet was vacuumed but behind the night stand dirty… this trip covered several states and one country. The Sheraton at the Portland airport was great, the Fairmont in Vancouver BC which I paid the same amount of money per night eas great! But the Captain Cook was just sad.

Beautiful, quiet, clean, great shops, bars and restaurants. Very expensive, however.

Getting a bit old and run down. Peak season cruise ship overloads restaurants and services leading to poor food and service.
Coffee place is excellent.

Nice property with interesting history but not outstanding- furnishings were dated. And with 4:00pm check-in, not much time to take advantage of amenities. Unfortunately we could hear the elevator going up & down all night. At the price we paid, we were disappointed- will not stay there again.

This place is only useful for its location and the fact that most groups and ships collect passengers from here for tours. My son got sick after eating breakfast here within 4 hours. The rooms are old and terrible and way over priced. They don’t care because they probably have contracts with cruise ships that collect passengers from here. It is close to everything that’s the only reason. Our shower wouldn’t drain after one shower and we got placed next to the elevators which really sucked.

The hotel was fine but could use a refresh. Great location. Had a very nice meal at Fletcher's.

Large room. Grand old hotel.

The property is way overrated. Toilet flushing like a big bomb going off - so loud. WiFi didn’t work. Staff is not very friendly. However, the hotel charges an outrageous price. Won’t go back again.

Sadly for the price of this hotel it did not live up to luxury. The beds were full size, the room was from the 1960s. The bathroom had no air flow and was iffy if the toilet was going to flush. When we called for a late checkout we were told call in the morning to see?! Not worth the $.

Had plumbing issues, toilet needed to be roto rooted...within 10 minutes or checking in. For the price we paid, it was a horrible experience.
We had traveled all day

Just got here but so far everything seems great. Good restaurant even though we didn’t sit down until10:30 due to a late flight. Servers were super helpful! Rooms nice and very clean.

The housekeeping staff didn't bother to change the in-room alarm clocks. On my first morning in the hotel, two alarm clocks went off unexpectedly at 6:00 a.m.!

We really enjoyed The Hotel Captain Cook. Great location. Beautiful rooms and common areas. Nice shopping too.
3.0 / 5.0
It’s a nice old property but nothing special. Certainly not worth what they charge. Somehow affiliated with cruise ships so that drives the price up. In most cities a 3 star hotel but perhaps the best in anchorage?

I liked the extremely comfortable bed. I did not like that the hotel didn’t have an airport shuttle.

Room has an amazing view. Bed and linens were good. Pillows a bit flat. Bathroom needs update. Had to call out the for service about the toilet being clogged twice. Very nice service staff. Had plenty of food options onsite. Overall pretty nice place. A bit on the pricey side though.

It was great. Captain Cook is a little expensive for me. However, the bed was extremely comfortable, room was quiet, and I loved the sauna. I was not impressed that valet parking was in a local parking garage where anyone can access my vehicle.
