Excellent location in an area with easy access to Central Park and local transportation. Rooms were good for an old hotel but very small as is the custom in NYC. Single elevator access was often tied up by cleaning crews causing up to fifteen minute delays unless walk up 14 floors is in your exercise regimen.

Terrible. Heat was broken and room was freezing. It was literally snowing outside and no heat!
Mold in the bathroom and walls/door panels falling apart.

The rooms were old, run down and the windows did not close properly.
The bed was comfortable, but the showers were run down, and the wifi did not work at all on the 14th floor.
Service staff were good, nothing outstanding.
Breakfast room was very small and often difficult to find a table.
Also the elevator waiting times were long.

We had a king size room. Bed was comfy, the room had two small closets but not dresser area. Our TV didn't work until the last two days. The bathroom was SOOOOOOO Small .I couldn't use the toilet without leaving the door open. The shower head was high which was great as I am tall but it couldn't be adjusted so it was like being waterboarded the whole time. Staff was friendly and the best days were the days they had cookies at the front desk. The location can't be beat to Central park. Overall a great stay. I'd stay here again.

If you are just looking for a place to sleep you got that here. No TV service, no where to up pack clothing, no blow dryer for your hair, no coffee pot, no fridg., etc. Just a place to lay your head.

It was exactly what i expected or needed

I get that NYC hotels are smaller, but this particular La Quinta also had chipped paint on the walls, a broken outlet in our room, poor noise isolation from the street (probably because of the window AC unit), tape wrapped around the plumbing in the bathroom, an uncomfortable bed, and cheap bar soap in the bathroom. For an upper west side hotel, I expected better.
The room served its core purpose well enough I guess - providing me a place to sleep (albeit, poorly), but it was uncomfortable and generally seemed to be in disarray. Next time I need an UWS hotel, I may need to splurge and look elsewhere.

Stayed one night for a concert. Would recommend to anyone

The tiniest hotel room I've ever stayed in (no room for even 1 chair!) and also the most costly. But I DID get a room even when the UN General Assembly was meeting. Nice location between Lincoln Center and the Natural History Museum on the west side of Central Park. Clean room, nice people, and good breakfast area. - jj

Most staff is very nice. But I called to ask about luggage storage before the trip and one of the female staff told me that we can’t keep the luggage after check-out which made us troublesome while planning the trip. When we check-out, we saw some luggage at the lobby so I asked again and the male staff told me that keep the luggage is not a problem.

The location of this hotel is perfect for our needs, but for the price, the place is pretty run down. We had a king bed room on the second floor, and the furniture seemed like it came out of a frat house dumpster, frankly. Lots of dings and paint splotches on the walls that could have been easily fixed up. The rooms are small, but that can't be helped because of the building itself. The staff was very friendly and helpful, although we did pay for a very early check-in, and still had to wait in the lobby for about 45 minutes after our check-in time for the room to be ready.

Very dirty, not worth the money at all. Spend elsewhere

Things I did not like: Room is already small enough but the AC is positioned TERRIBLE. If you sleep on single bed with AC open YOU WILL FREEZE TO DE*TH. It could be better engineered or organized.
Things I liked: it is most economic option for that beautiful location. You can walk to both subway locations in 5 and 15 mins. Just next to central park. Being breakfast included is also saves a lot for economic travelers :)

This was an amazing Upper West Side location. Just around corner from the B and C trains. Easy to get everywhere by foot or by train.Safe neighborhood. Right off Columbus Ave and great restaurants just on the corner. The hotel itself is classic older bldg. We had a queen size room on 1201 and this gave us great windows to central park and even the sunset skyline. One small size elevator and sometimes it takes longer time to get up/down at checkout times and breakfast times. But, we took steps to avoid this. The room is small but has all you need (a queen size bed, deep reach-in closet, a dresser, and two nightstands-- that's alot of storage for a small hotel). Breakfast was just OK. but you're in NY so go out and get bagels and smear instead! The price was great for the value of the location, ability to store luggage before/after, great front desk staff (all of the people were so lovely and helpful), and comfortable bed made this a great stay.

We were fooled by the pictures. The rooms are cramped. Very very small. The bathroom is so small that when u sit half of ur body is under the sink and the sink is in your face. We killed a total of 4 roaches. While I was sitting on the bed I saw a roach flying towards me. Smh. The AC was making noise all night and early morning it sounded like water was dripping from somewhere it was loud n woke me up. If u are claustrophobic, this place is not for u. I went down for breakfast, there was no waffles at 9am. There is only 1 lady taking care of the breakfast, she told me she that she was too busy to make more mixing for the waffles. Thats the only thing besides pancakes i can have for breakfast as I'm allergic to eggs and pork. Plus the breakfast room was overcrowded and nowhere to sit. Had to wait on ppl to get up in order to sit and have breakfast. Not a place I woukd re-visit. I am so disappointed in this trip with this hotel.

Highly recommend for those visiting the area on tight budgets. The hotel is older, but efforts have been made to update the facility and it shows. Rooms are small but sufficient (if you're planning to be out & about rather than room bound) & clean. Water from the tap tastes good; showers have plenty of hot water. Staff - and I mean *all* the staff, on any day and at any time - were absolutely terrific, very friendly and very helpful. The free breakfast was varied from day to day, but warm and tasty - I looked forward to it each morning. The location is great - right next to Central Park & the American Museum of Natural History, as well as shops and plenty of eateries. Just a perfect choice for travelers with restricted budgets. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat! Thanks to all at the hotel for a wonderful experience!

I am an older woman and I don’t have a cell phone and the phone in my room was not working. Making hard to call family members. I would have to go down to front desk to make a call.

Many things didn't work or worked poorly, shower handle broke, air conditioner leaked water on the floor, elevator was a long wait. Lobby and breakfast room were HOT. Staff was responsive.

It is a hotel located in Manhattan. Like all affordable hotels in the city, there are tight spaces, one elevator and no central air. The rooms were tight and hard to navigate; however, the service by staff was amazing. Our check-in experience was warm and welcoming!

size of room and air conditioning was sub-par
