Great hotel but when we were there the jacuzzi was not in service.
I get damn tired of amenities offered but not available!!!!!
I also get ticked off when staff says that there is nothing that they can do.

Conveniently located to shopping & restaurants. Starting to look worn in areas but love that this historic place is still operating.

Such a beautiful hotel. Loved staying here. I do wish they had mini fridges.
4.7
Nice but not worth the money

Very friendly reception on our arrival, originally we booked through a third party and the room was a bit small for us but the kind gentleman at reception upgraded us to a larger room and bed. The service in the saloon was excellent thank you for taking great care of us.

We enjoyed our stay atcthe Strater.
Loved the history & convience of walking around town to take in the history of Durango.
Rode the train Silverton. Thus journey was on my husbands bucket list.

Hotel was beautiful. Parking was difficult.
4.7
Beautiful historic hotel. Loved the history tour in the hotel and everything on display. Great staff and easy parking.
4.7
It's a beautiful historic western hotel. Lacking in some amenities, but that's not the point.
4.7
I enjoyed the historic hotel and you can’t beat the location. Not all the staff but some seemed indifferent or even bothered by having to engage with me. Hate to say it but that was a vibe I got from the entire town of Durango. Not rude but just no pleasantries. Either way a neat place to stay and the Diamond Belle was a fun experience. Staff there was very friendly.

We had an amazing stay at the Strater Hotel. The service was exceptional, and the accommodations were very clean and comfortable.

Great place and unique

More of an experience to stay here verses comfort. It was fairly expensive compared to other hotels that offer more amenities. Beds were fair as far as comfort, bottled water is not available. Bathroom was small. It is a pretty hotel though and convenient location. I would recommend staying elsewhere and just visiting the lobby and the saloon.

Overall excellent place to stay . I enjoyed the old style vibe .

Hotel was OK. I didn't like the thermostat was locked. Our room was cold. Parking is just OK. It's a long way to bring luggage from the back parking lot.
4.7
The reason we stayed at this hotel is because we wanted to experience time in the 1800s. There was a bag time pianist in the restaurant and bar. That was really good. Prices were reasonable, and we were offered complementary beverage. We were able to leave our vehicle in the parking lot while we took the Silverton train, and everything was within walking distance.

Great location for riding the train

Cool place to see

Liked the vibe in town around the hotel. The tourist train rides started early in the morning and run right by the hotel.
4.7
Excellent location to experience downtown Durango. Charming and historic, the Strater doesn't have all the amenities you might get at a chain hotel but gives so much more in character! Friendly and welcoming staff and comfortable beds. We enjoyed our stay, thank you!

Great location, parking, and rooms. First time staying and we will be back.

I loved the historic property and the piano bar and the convenience to shopping, train station and dining.
Hotel was clean and beautifully restored inside and parking was nearby.
Trains began sounding horns at 7:30 am and didn't end until after 10 pm. They were loud! But, it is to be expected in Durango.

Location! Parking included. Old historic property. Had a room on the first floor train running right by early in the morning. Clean but old still has carpet everywhere which is gross.
4.7
Love this hotel. Great dinner. Don’t miss the self guided tour of the historic items in the hotel plus ask front desk to show you the hidden spaces!
4.7
Very old and unique hotel. Old, but very well maintained. History was very interesting!
4.7
Wonderful old hotel with lots of character and free parking!

Unbelievable place. Stepping back in time, in a very good way. Tina at registration is awesome. Will be back ASAP.

Fabulous historical hotel with restaurant and bar. Wish I could have stayed longer. Will be back.

A beautiful hotel. So much fun walking around it. Enjoyed a couple meals at the Diamond Belle saloon. Delicious food, a beautiful bar and friendly staff all through the hotel.

Historical landmark that you can experience like many earlier generations. Convenient and within an easy walk to the many Main Street restaurants and shops that make downtown Durango a wonderful place to visit.

The entire staff was very welcoming even during the very busy July 4th holiday!

Historic hotel. Staff friendly. Good price. Good location on the Main Street near restaurants and shops.Parking next to hotel. Rooms smelled just a little musty. Would stay here again.
4.7
Magdelina, in the Diamond Belle, was fantastic! Extremely freindly and great service! So much so, that we ate dinner there all three nights because of her. Our whole Stater experience was fantastic. We will be back, and will recommend.
4.7
Room is nothing special, and we almost missed the shower behind the door! But being of that period - 1887 - it’s fine given the overall hotel amenities, ambience, atmosphere! Would definitely stay again !
4.7
This was a fun hotel to stay in! We will be back!
