Good location if driving/using public transport whilst there. Bed very soft (bit too soft if you have a bad back). Shower not great, hairdryer in room would have been nice. Breakfast decent and worth including.

I stayed here for 2 nights on a business trip. The hotel and rooms are slightly tired and dated but I genuinely couldn’t fault it. It was very good for a business trip. It was so quiet and the bed was really comfortable. And after a long day, it was lovely to go back to the room to see the bed made and fresh towels… something that doesn’t happen in a lot of places these days.

Was what we needed for an overnight stay

Dirty and outdated. Hole in bathroom floor cause for health risk. Bed uncomfy and had to sleep in separate beds with partner. No central heating only a fan heater.

I really enjoyed my stay. The staff were excellent and the bar and dining facilities very good. The room was OK but in need of repair. The window catches were broken as was the mechanical sink plug.
But the bed was comfy and the bedding smelled lovely and fresh. Good parking.

Second Green King hotel stayed at and this was by far the better of the two. Lovely room, comfortable and quiet. Great facilities.
We are in the restaurant - food was OK a little rushed and restaurant was busy and felt a little cramped but all in all a nice visit and we would return

Friendly staff check in easy as was parking rooms could do with a redecoration as looking tired but would definitely stay here again good value

Staff were friendly but the hotel is very dated and worn out! Really needs a complete refit from artex ceilings to grubby stained carpet. Room door spy hole has been smashed so had to stuff paper in the hole.

Staff were excellent but room cold and no ironing board very dated decour also limited signs for reception and rooms and a long walk to restaurant ..It certainly wasnt worth the £114 i payed for it and sadly wont be staying there again.. Although staff were nice

The room size was bigger than I expected. The general condition 9f the, room was quite poor. Tired carpet, tired furniture. The two electric wall mounted radiators were dented and both did not work. The main light switch which operated the 4 main wall lights would not turn the lights off. So the only way to turn them off was to cut the electric by taking the room key card out of the slot to turn the electric on and off. Overall the quality of the room was very dated and tired. Probably built in the 70,s or 80,s.

The hotel is very tired looking, definitely could do with a face-lift, however did get a good nights sleep which is the main thing.

Hotel and staff was very good, but unfortunately the pub. And restaurant it was attached to could have been a lot better.

This is a budget hotel... if you just need a bed for the night, then its fine... The price was good - the bed linen and towels were clean.
The room was dated and a bit shabby - not convinced that the carpet had been hoovered.
Has a breakfast the following day - was inexpensive and ok - again, on the budget scale of quality.
Kind of a shame the owners haven't invested in the hotel, as it could be a lovely place

good place to stay

Whilst the staff in the hotel are welcoming and friendly, those in the pub and restaurant are not so good. Overall the hotel really has seen better days and needs to close for a complete overhaul and refurbishment. Bathrooms are outdated and show definite signs of wear and tear. Rooms are shabby and furniture needs replacing. Have stayed here a number of times over the years and it is such a shame to see the place in its current state.

Great location for a weekend spent at Goodwood Festival of Speed (about 45 mins away with traffic and much cheaper than anything closer). Easy to find, friendly staff, good breakfast and evening meals and perfectly acceptable room. Will use again for future FOS visits.

Stayed here one night prior to visiting Isle of Wight - hotel is quite a distance out of Portsmouth and having the Hire car was handy - free off street parking was supplied and is always a bonus - we dined at the hotel restaurant which was a good meal, reasonably priced and well staffed - rooms and fittings a little tired and upholstery of chairs in need of deep cleaning - painted surfaces in need of a repaint and the whole place in need of a good spruce up - room was functional and a good size

Pleasant reception area , pity rooms werent up to same standard fire doors kept being opened by public no restraint by staff on customers on this issue..No lift in property, disabled and had to carry wheelchair upstairs..dirty bathroom..no pillow protectors..filthy carpet, dirty cups for tea and coffee tray. dirty toilet . cracked bathroom sink.filth on bedroom walls.. Dining staff v pleasant housekeeping needs looking into, maybe get some firm to deep clean establishment. wont be returning

Tired but functional. The hotel is OK, but a bit shabby round the edges...it's in need of some serious modernisation. There's no aircon, no lifts, poor lighting, the room has evidence of fittings that have been removed but no tidying up of leftover filler etc.
That said...everything worked, the bed was comfortable, the room was quiet, and there was plenty of parking. And the staff were very pleasant, always helps when booking in after a long day's work.
The Hungry Horse linked to the hotel was full of families that looked like extras from Lord of the Rings, complete with feral kids...but the food was, of course, simple but LARGE :-D
Would I stay there again? If it's the cheapest option by a mile then yes, but I'm not rushing to go back.

Helpful, very pleasant reception staff
accommodation was in need of refurbishment- the carpet in room 127 was affected by carpet moths.
The room was quiet and parking facilities were good. Convenient location for transport links and useful to have Hungry Horse adjacent. Reasonable value.

For what we paid, you can’t fault the hotel. And the bed was surprisingly comfy

Reasonable value but in need of refurb

I had an accessible room on the ground floor for my 86 year old aunt. The carpet near the bed was torn and a trip hazard to her. Also the tap over the bath was only placed on and came off in her hand.

bit of a rough setting but lovely when inside

A cheap place to stay, you get what you pay for, room was tired and well used, but clean. For this price per night you cant expect 5 stars, but would have thought that they would have repaired the heater (not needed at this time of year fortunately) and replaced the battery cover on the door entry system. TV reception was terrible. As i said you get what you pay for, but it was cheap so cant complain.too much really.

The place is very dated and in much need of a refurbishment. The carpet in our room was thread bare in places. There was mildew around the sink. The heating was broken. The furniture was very old and worn. But the bed was comfortable and the sheets freshly laundered.

Very nice place to stay.
