Staying at the Bear of Rodborough is always a great experience, every member of staff is attentive to your needs and the service they provide is second to none. The rooms are always incredibly clean and the attention to details is excellent.
The food provided is always top notch and the bar is always a pleasant experience with both friendly patrons and staff.
Having the ability to take our 4 legged friends on our journeys has always made us a lot happier and I’m sure our pooch would give a woof of happiness knowing that she is looked after, even more so knowing she is going to get some free sausages!
Overall I will always choose to use the Bear if I am nearby as I have had nothing but excellence. I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone going to the Cotswolds/Stroud if they want a beautiful place to stay.
Thanks to all at the Bear of Rodborough you guys are awesome :)

Hotel was outstanding
Food let it down

Our stay was ok. what spoiled it for us was the room.I was up 3 floors of stairs, no lift. we were it the roof space. we only stayed 1night so managed, hotel staff did help with suitcase. If you have any mobility issues please check with hotel first. . Food was very good. Wine prices quite higher than other places we stayed at, check the bar prices before you order, I didnt and paid a very high price for 2 glasses of english rose.

Hotel looks beautiful, however the shower in my room had very little water pressure. So washing was a slow task.
Food was great apart from dessert which took an age to come out. When it arrived it was cold and rock hard.
The beer is good but again service was rather slow waiting for staff to show up to serve.

The room, toilet and bath facilities were clean to a very good standard and the decor was tasteful and restful. We had a lovely view over the Nailsworth Valley. We were well-pleased with the accommodation which suited our needs admirably. The evening meal in the restaurant was nicely presented and was delicious and enjoyable.

Perfectly fine - one overnight stay but didn’t use any of the hotel’s other facilities.

Would have been too marks all round but upon arrival we found half the hotel out of bounds due to having a refit. They did open up the bar area's the next evening which was good as that's the part of the hotel which is olde worlde other than that we had a lovely stay.

Beautiful hotel. Staff really friendly and so welcoming. Doggy treats for our dog throughout our stay.
Lovely outdoor seating area and bar. Hotel really clean. 1 min walk to the common and the beautiful cotswolds hills.
Would highly recommend to our friends and will definitely go back for another visit.

We love the Bear at Rodborough. There is so much character, it’s relaxing, the staff are lovely and the food is amazing. The Chateaubriand was out of this world. One observation to the owners though is that since removing the restaurant carpet to reveal the parket flooring is that the acoustics have been negatively affected. Some decorative sound deadening would be very welcome.

A really good hotel that we've stayed in before. The room was a good size with quality furnishings and toiletries.
The only negative point was that the poached eggs did not have runny yokes.

Loved the old country charm and all the cosy places to sit and enjoy good food and wine in front of a open log fire , really couldn't fault the Bear , a wonderful place to stay

We booked this place at the last minute without very high expectations. However we had a wonderful stay at the Bear. The thing we loved the most was the absolutely amazing view from our room. I can’t imagine staying at this property without getting a room with a view to the valley. To add to this was a comfortable bed and very friendly service all around. We especially enjoyed our meals in the busy pub with its cozy atmosphere and good food (including the crumble and sticky toffee pudding). They are very dog friendly- our pup enjoyed the free treats and nice bed for him in our room. There is a beautiful walk just steps outside the hotel and many other walks we enjoyed nearby. We look forward to returning.

Friendly staff in an interesting historic building. Quiet location near a large common grazed by cattle & horses.
Food nicely presented with some unusual twists but delicious!

I booked 2 nights via expedia but added an additional night a day earlier by telephoning the hotel direct, the only room available for 3 nights was a single so I was effectively downgraded for the 2 nights booked through expedia. I should receive back a credit from expedia, the single room was fine with the exception of the toilet which was installed where use was constricted, if it had been installed at an angle it would have been OK.
The arrival, staff and accomodation other than the toilet was excellent
