I really wanted to like V,Azteca. But there were so many uncertainties and misinformation(or lacking information) b4 and during the trip. I called the resort prior to my visit to ask if there was a tennis pro who could give me tennis lessons. They said, no pro, but i can play tennis. Found out there isn't a tennis court in V.Azteca, but there is one(although i didn't confirm it) at V.Maya which i have access to(10 min walk from Azteca). I didn't know i had access to Maya until I arrived Azteca which is weird bc i would think it's a selling point. The person i spoke to also said they didn't have bikes, but they did. It was also nightmare coordinating with the car pick up service that Azteca recommended. I would NOT recommend Kuluba car services to anyone. It was pulling teeth to confirm reservation of the pick up and the person wasn't there to pick me up when i arrived for about an hour. BAD start to the holiday. Then V.Azetca told me that I am able to only dine in the reservation required restaurants only 2 evenings out of the 5 evenings I'm there, which means I had to have breakfast, lunch and dinner at the same buffet cafeteria for days on end. The food was mediocre at best. The room really needs to be refurbished as the feeling was overall 'motel in a highway' qlty. They provided Shampoo and Bathgel ONLY and NOTHING else. We found cockroaches in the room and the bathroom during our stay. Again, I tried hard to look at the good parts, but it was very challenging.

We had an amazing time at Viva Azteca during our recent stay. The hotel is in a great location, just a short walk from the beach. Our room was clean, comfortable
The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The food was delicious, with a great variety at the restaurant. We especially enjoyed the fresh seafood and the breakfast buffet.
The pool area was perfect for relaxing. Overall, Viva Azteca exceeded our expectations, and we highly recommend it for anyone visiting Mexico. We’ll definitely be back!

What would make this possibly outstanding as if air conditioning was put in the buffet dining area. Some days it was very difficult to eat there as it was extremely hot

Everything was very good if I can recommend that you make the buffet dining area air conditioned that would make your property outstanding

Viva Azteca was a wonderful place we stayed at. The staff were very friendly and attentive to our needs. The food was tasteful and had a lot of variety. We loved that it was at the beach front and allowed easy access to the beautiful beach of Playa Del Carmen. Rooms were cleaned daily unless you requested not to. The following are just a few suggestions, the AC vents, they are locked and you can’t move them up or down left or right, having AC in your room is important, but maybe add the adjustable vents to cut off the air from hitting the bedside. It was a bit uncomfortable at night, you really couldn’t adjust the air temp in the room because the humidity would creep in. Or move the bed to the other side or the room as to not allow the AC to be blowing in your face all night. Have your staff at check in explain all the amenities you are getting. Like downloading the viva app to see times and dates of activities and reserving your meal at any of your restaurants. No one explained it to us, we had to seek this information out. But overall it was a pleasant experience!!! We truly enjoyed our stay.

We really wanted to like this hotel as we have stayed at Wyndham hotels before and service was favorable however at hotel arrival we had to wait at least 30 min for someone to check us in. We tried several times to reserve dinner and was concierge was not very helpful and capacity was full even when we tried to reserve between 7-8 am. Be aware, this hotel do not have and elevator or AC unit in the buffet restaurant, theater and lounge areas which make it extremely inconvenient and hot especially during the months of July and August. Unfortunately will not be coming back.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful everywhere we went. I wish we could’ve had more dinner reservations as we were only allowed 2 during our 5 night stay. Also the balconies could use some drying racks or other ways to hang our wet bathing suits and things as nothing was drying in the room.

I booked this hotel because I saw this property when I stayed at another hotel in the same area last year. I thought it would be a really great place to bring my family for our vacation. The overall area is very nice. However, I was wrong and I would not ever recommend this place. As a family who travels often I’m seeking a hotel that is diversified but the patrons & the majority of the staff were not very welcoming. It was very uncomfortable for us as family to be continuously gawked at as if on display. No bottle waters for brushing your teeth. Furthermore, the rules seemed to not apply to all guests. For example, you couldn’t wear a swimsuit in the buffet but many people did but only I was asked to leave because my shoulders were not covered. The food was beyond disgusting and we all left with food poisoning. Think mystery meat and unseasoned food.It is hard to get any reservations for the specialty restaurants so you’re left with limited options. There were many questionable food options that even the employees were smelling for evidence of spoilage. But I would like to mention Roberto who took us out on the water. He was a great exceptional employee. Very friendly, personable, and knowledgeable. Antonio the bellman was also friendly. Lastly, if had not been for us meeting the taxi driver then our stay would’ve been miserable. He took us exploring and to find good food. Hopefully they fix this place and make it more diverse. If I could rate this place 0/10 I would.

Loved our time here! The beach, pool, restaurants, and bars are all fantastic. Unlike most other resorts, this one offers free catamaran sailing from the beach which we loved! The paddle court on the roof and nightly entertainment were also highlights. The only aspect we didn’t like was the lack of help from front desk staff. It’s expected to leave tips for housekeeping, restaurant servers, bartenders, etc but it’s difficult to get small bills from the ATM or money exchange. The front desk at most resorts helps guests by breaking larger bills but they won’t do that here. We tried to purchase something in the gift shop, but the person running the gift shop also didn’t have change. Every other staff member we encountered was fantastic; we were disappointed only in the lack of help we got from the front desk. They also don’t answer questions. They will tell you to download their app and look there, but the app doesn’t always have enough details.

There were only 3 restaurants and hard to get a reservation at a good hour. No shuttles just to go into town. Had to pay for a cab just to go a few miles into town. The beds are very uncomfortable unless you like a stiff hard bed. I don’t know how you would fix the pool temperature but it was HOT! The bartenders and housekeeping were excellent!

We liked that you could kayak, ride bikes, and a large beach access. The food was not great.

The staff so friendly. Area extremely safe. Only thing is that breakfast every day is the same. Also coffee in the room is not stocked up every day, beside that excellent resort. Recommended

This was our first all inclusive with kids. The resort was nice and small but had plenty of activities for everyone. The beach is AMAZING!!! We were there when hurricane Beryl hit. The staff was incredible and made sure everything was locked down and all visitors were safe. They went above and beyond to ensure that everyone was comfortable and taken care of. We will definitely stay with them again!

The staff that received us on arrival were rude and not helpful at all. The staff member basically asked us to take a picture of the map on the counter and to fend for ourselves. Pool time closure is too early especially when kids want to splash in the pool later than 8pm.

We had very good service. Thank you

Staff was alright. Food was extremely underwhelming for a 4 star resort. Not particularly clean or dirty. The singular pool area gets crowded very quickly with children.

Great location and safe. Small resort but great staff and very clean. The only thing I did not like is how outdated the rooms were.

Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Activities were fun. Make sure to get a drink from Carlos he was friendly and helpful. Close to shops. Walkable. Safe area. Food was mediocre. They can do so much better. Traces of mold throughout the hotel left me feeling moldy. Possibly due to weather. Enjoyed my time. I don’t think I will be going back there.

The resort is aesthetically pleasing, there are beautiful areas.
The food is terrible.

We had an amazing time at the hotel despite some rain from Tropical Storm Alberto. We loved the food, drinks, and facility, and the key card bracelet was a nice touch. Our spacious room was clean and well-maintained by the cleaning staff. All the hotel staff were friendly, accommodating, and kind, especially Esperanza, who always made an effort to greet my baby. Although we didn't get to see any shows due to our early bedtime with a 17-month-old, we heard they were great. The rain didn't ruin our vacation; instead, the weather was fresh, and the warm water made for a pleasant outdoor experience. We'll definitely be back! I give this hotel a 10/10.

We stayed at this hotel on vacation in 2010 and 2011. We really liked it back then and wanted to see if it was still as great after 12 years. Our suspicions were fully confirmed. The food is very good and varied. Rooms have also been renovated in the meantime Pool area has been improved and the beach is first class.
However, I do have one negative point. It has nothing to do with the hotel but with the visitors. There were a lot of German tourists who unfortunately behaved badly. This was not the case 12 years ago and I can do without that. Unfortunately, it's not the hotel's fault. There are also many leisure activities available.

Everything was perfect!
