Wonderful welcoming lobby with lovely staff. Our room was divine and exactly what needed to celebrate our anniversary. We will definitely be back!

A lovely room with a very comfortable bed, sofa and nice bathroom. Cosy and quiet whilst being in the centre of town.

Great location for a stay in Edinburgh.

A beautiful space, but more form than function. The heat wasn't working. Our otherwise beautiful bathroom had a slightly musty smell, little shelf space for our things, and shampoo, etc., pumps that were difficult to work. The in-room safe was needlessly complicated to work. But the staff was uniformly friendly and helpful.

Fantastic location for accessing the royal mile. No parking at hotel but a few 24hr car parks a short walk away. Little bit of train noise but given the proximity to Waverley station that is to be expected. Room was spacious and well equiped

Lovely old hotel, in great location, but in need of much TLC. For the nightly price, it should be nicer quite frankly. We were given a new room right away bc the room they gave us on the 8th floor had a toilet that was already clogged before we got there. They tried to fix, but couldn't so moved us to a smaller, less pretty room, which was a stinker. Beds are SO firm, like brick. I couldn't sleep any of the 3 nights we were there due to the bed firmness. Rooms are also so HOT, the temp gauge doesn't work at all. The lift is so teeny tiny and always about 26 people trying to get in. Pretty hotel, but not worth the money at all.

The staff was friendly and accommodating. We were impressed by the hotel’s design and location. We will definitely visit again.

Great room for families. It was huge with three beds and a sitting area. Very convenient to the train station and all the sights and sounds around Edinburgh.

Beautiful hotel, large room, in the city next to the busy train station. No parking nearby, had to pay to park at the rail station 10 min walk away. No place to drop off baggage on arrival or upon checkout. Road construction and layout in this part of town is very congested. It is near a lot of tourist sites. Hotel food was average, but there are some good eateries nearby.

Great location. Close to all the tourist venues and transportation. Concierge was very knowledgeable and helpful when I discovered the room phones were unable to make local calls. They assisted in making the necessary calls. They also were able to accommodate early check in on this stay, helping in the ability to make the best of our time in Edinburgh.

I loved this property. The hotel is iconic, the rooms were well-designed and surprisingly spacious. Restaurant (The Grand Cafe) was great for a nightcap. Location was perfectly in between the Old & New Town and super convenient for walking and the train as well as taxi/uber pick-up.

We stayed for a night and they put us in a room next to a room they were doing construction on. Hammering and construction noise from 8am to 8pm. We went to complain and nothing was done. We wanted to take a quick rest after the train from London but it was impossible with the noise.

Everyone at the front desk was so helpful and kind!

We originally booked and paid for this stay via Expedia. Unfortunately The Scotsman Hotel double charged us. After some work it seems they will credit us back.
The restaurant food was very poor.

The room was great. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Great location by Waverly Station and close to shopping and a variety of pubs in walking distance.
Parking is the only challenge at this hotel if you’re renting or have a car as you’re parking at Waverly station. Not far but about a 5-10min walk from hotel.
Would still highly recommend this location.

Loved everything about The Scotsman. Beautiful hotel, amazing staff and we were surprised with an upgrade to a suite! Extremely convenient to public transportation and tons to do within walking distance to Old and New Town. Only reason I gave 4 stars for the area was due to lots of city construction outside of the hotel. I would recommend The Scotsman for anyone looking to stay in Edinburgh!

Loved our stay at The Scotsman! Everything we wanted and the central location made not having a car no problem. Walkable to everything!

We had 7 nights at the Scotsman. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean, wonderful housekeeping, and lacked for nothing. Extremely helpful and friendly staff. We loved the bars and the cafe also.

Lovely old hotel. Beautiful room!
There is construction going on around it at the moment.

An incredible hotel in the heart of Edinburgh. Minutes from the Royal Mile. Close to Waverley Station. A must stay destination in Edinburgh.

Whats not to like! Everything was wonderful! The only thing I would change is the crowds EVERYWHERE but it was a great stay

Great location but construction work outside the hotel made getting a cab/uber difficult. Loved the bathroom and meals in the restaurant were reasonably priced and delicious. Would definitely go back!

We really enjoyed our two night stay. The staff promptly helped us with our luggage upon arrival. They don’t have on premises parking or valet so we did have to park in a lot that was a bit of a walk away. Our room was gorgeous with great views and the bed was comfortable. We plan to stay again on our next visit to Edinburgh.

We were not told of the huge amount of construction right outside hotel doors. Had to arrive and leave thru a basement entrance. Also do not feel our room was actually the room we paid xor on hotels.com. There ere two so called Reporter rooms advertised and we choose the better and our room was cramped and looking at a wall. It was hot and stuffy and plugs not working etc. Porters were very nice but overall staff at desk very disinterested. Very disappointing stay and feel we deserve a credit on our credit card.

It’s good location and we can walk around to the restaurant and shopping.

Great hotel! Loved the historical aspect, but the rooms were historical/modern - great bathrooms and wonderfully large shower with very cool fixtures! When you check in, realize you are on the 4th floor. It was a bit confusing when we checked in, took off to our room and then wanted to leave - we tried the Ground floor, 1st floor, 2nd floor, 3rd floor - gave up, went down to the ground floor again outside the back of hotel next to the train station (super convenient) and walked around the block back to the front door. Ten min later, we learned the error of our ways! LOL Recommend to front desk staff to let guests know this little detail upon check-in :)

The start here are amazing! Jessica upgraded us to a suite upon learning it was our 45th anniversary night and the hotel sent champagne. Thank you Jessica and all the hotel staff.
Today, the staff member at the desk was so kind as well..did not catch his name…so helpful!
Loved our stay so much we canceled another hotel on Friday to come back here.

The rooms were nice but the carpet outside out our room needed some cleaning. It kind of looked like someone may have vomited and it left a bad stain. Small amount of hair in the shower. Some water damage on ceilings but probably to be expected in such an old building. It was truly beautiful though and concierge was amazing. There was construction during our stay and unfortunately a lot of noise on the 2nd floor all during the night. After moving to the 6th floor, there was no noise. I'd definitely stay here again.

The Scotsman Hotel is great. The staff is excellent The building is unique An old Newpaper building transformed into a hotel. Is in the heart of the action In Old Town Edinburgh. Outside the building is a mess of construction but I side is an oasis.

Good location. Room was nice with good layout, excellent wardrobe space and tv. Bathroom had a very large shower and was well set out.
We had 4 pillows and all were terrible but the bed was ok. Lifts took ages each time we needed to use them but generally we walked the stairs. Staff were friendly but sometimes lacked clearing breakfast tables.

Rooms were spacious and very clean. Staff was friendly and very helpful. The food in the restaurant was fine but not great. Location was perfect. Dram of whisky, in the room, was fun- wish it had been available every day. Oscar, in the Press Room, was incredibly friendly and fun to spend the evening with.

Staff is amazing and hotel is historic with big comfortable rooms. Unfortunately our heating system was not operating so room was chilly- staff gave us portable heater but obviously if spending 500 pounds a night expected better room temperature controls. The hotel also coils touch us its doorways that appear beat up from all the suitcases banging into them. But the staff makes up for these minor shortcomings plus the ideal location.
