A fantastic experience, cabin was great, staff were great, food was lovely & nothing was too much trouble. Definitely something different to a ‘normal’ hotel

An excellent experience. We loved the ambiance and the staff were so attentive and friendly. Rooms were immaculate and accommodating. Very close to a great distillery tour and the HMS Britannia - both are awesome tours.
2.5
Excellent stay overall ! We loved the quiet location, but still close to amazing dining options . The tram is right across the hotel which makes it very easy to get to the tourist areas . If you like walking it’s only two miles from most sights . The tour of HMS Britannia is included in the hotel stay and it’s only ten minutes from the hotel . Also, the breakfast was amazing with vegetarian options . The staff was very attentive and detail oriented .

We have eaten before at Fingal so we decided on an overnight stay with dinner. It was a birthday gift for my partner which was perfect! Birthday chocolates on arrival, wonderful staff, amazing food….whats not to love!

Cannot commend all the staff enough. Polite, friendly, professional and very attentive. The cabin was fantastic. All the little extras in the room added to our exceptional stay. Breakfast was truly amazing. Everything cooked fresh and anything you wanted!! All served up by staff who were genuinely interested in making the start to your day a great one. Loved the experience and will be back next time we are in Edinburgh

Truly luxurious and thoroughly enjoyable. Staff, food, rooms and service all 5 Stars. Team stop just a minute walk so easy to go into Edinburgh in 15 minutes using Tram. Complimentary tickets to Royal Brittania were a welcome surprise. Wonderful all round

Wonderful facility and extraordinary staff…always ready to help with reservations, tickets etc. Dinner, served in their bar, is pricey and very mediocre. Breakfast, on the other hand, was wonderful

Who would have thought you could take an old ship, completely gut the insides, and make a luxury hotel out of it? Well, it sort of works, but it does have its drawbacks.
Pros: the Fingal is tied up in the Port of Leith, a portion of Edinburgh 2½ miles from the city center. This is both an advantage and a disadvantage. Of course, as a tourist, it is nice to be stationed in the city center, the potential negatives being the constant crowds. Leith itself, though, is a very nice location and only a block from the Fingal, there is a high density of interesting bars and restaurants in the Port area to choose from (it’s not a scruffy area as you might think when you hear “port,” so that’s good). Also, it is very easy to get into the city center as a tram runs right by the hotel (L 3.80 per person round-trip) and it takes about 25 minutes to get to the Royal Mile. You are also near the tour of the Royal Yacht Britannia if that appeals to you. The staff is great and very attentive. The beds are great. There is a restaurant on top that is said to be excellent, but we didn’t get to try it because it was booked.
Cons: Your room has been carved out of the innards of a ship. While way more spacious than typical ship staterooms, the design is quirky. Quirks include that you don’t get normal windows, but just sparse/small portholes (this was not originally a cruise ship). An oddity is that the toilets are negative-pressure vacuum toilets. Think of the airplane lav “foosh” sound

Amazing lovingly restored ship - so many special touches, like the rooms named after lighthouses with their accompanying pictures, the Noble Island products, the incredible food. The staff was very attentive, solicitous and very informative too - ask for the ship’s tour. Incredible stay!

Very unique hotel. So cool living onboard a floating hotel for the night. The room décor is lovely, as is the rest of the boat, and the staff onboard could not be nicer or more helpful. The breakfast was amazing (smoked salmon starter and full Scottish breakfast) and any time we called for items to be brought to our room, the service was super fast. It is not the cheapest but all in all, an excellent hotel and well worth a visit for a special occasion or just a well earned treat.

We can't rate the Fingal highly enough, 5 stars doesn't do it justice. From the moment you step on board every member of staff helps to give you a unique experience that you will never forget. Your are welcome to explore the whole boat and a member of staff will even accompany you and give you a wonderful explanation of the history of the Fingal. It's the little personal touches and the amazing customer service that just makes it so extra special. The food & cocktails are also deserve a special mention because they too are exceptional. The best ingredients, and prepared with care and attention makes for a wonderful dining and drinking experience.

Stayed for 1 night for birthday gift to my partner. Everything from the minute we entered the hotel was perfect. We stayed in a luxury duplex cabin and it was really lovely. Had everything you could want plus more. Dinner was really delicious. Great value. Great cocktails too. Breakfast was also great. High quality ingredients cooked to perfection. Staff were all lovely too. Would highly recommend.

This is our third stay within about 6 months which says it all. We don’t usually return to the same hotels as enjoy trying something different but already discussing our forth trip! I can’t say enough good things about this place, the attention to detail, the beautiful rooms and decor but most importantly the incredible service. Fingal has the best breakfast of any hotel I’ve ever been to (you have to have the salmon!) it’s the perfect location to explore Edinburgh with a tram stop right outside, but in a quiet location out of the hustle and bustle of the city centre. Thank you Fingal as always and we look forward to returning

Had a fab stay at the Fingal to celebrate my brother-in-laws 60th birthday. This place is amazing. The staff go above and beyond and nothing is to much trouble, felt very special from the moment we arrived to the moment we left.
We will be back in the near future
Thank you Fingal staff.
