Convenient to shopping and some restaurants in Custer, BUT it was inconvenient to get our belongings upstairs without an elevator. The room was tight, and I felt the springs in the mattress. The check in woman was non-welcoming… she gave info only when asked, nothing was volunteered except that “the ONLY way to get inside the building was the front door.” The luggage cart had 2 flat tires, so it was difficult to maneuver, and we could only take our things to the stairs on the cart, then lug them upstairs by hand. The breakfast was all cold choices. A tour bus was getting ready to load up, so there were people who were not eating in the breakfast area… just taking up seats and standing around waiting. We would not stay there again.

The room was clean enough and sufficient. The kids were disappointed that the pool was out of order. I did not care to be on the second floor as they do not have an elevator. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.

Very good. Would use Again

When we arrived I was told my reservation was for 1 room not the 2 I had booked. As the reservation was booked thru Expedia there was nothing the hotel could do. I had the itinerary # but not the hotel’s confirmation # and the itinerary # was meaningless to the hotel. Luckily they had rooms available. For the rest of our trip we either spoke directly to the hotels or went thru the hotel website.
In the room we had, the bed was broken. There was no elevator. The bedding was not clean.
The bathroom was clean.

So much better than expected. The cons: no elevator for those that may need it.
Thats it. The breakfast was muffins, ygurt, toast, jelly, juice fruit. Coffee, hot chocolate. Well stocked.
We sat outside at one of the patio tables and really enjoyed the wonderful weather. This is a no smoking place. However, they are not discriminating toward smokers. There are a few places with the butt collectors, lol, wherr you can smoke and not bother anyone while being comfortable and enjoying yourself. I appreciate that.
Check in was smooth, the three staff memebers i met at different times of day were each friendly, smiled, and helpful. You can walk the sgops and eateries that are literally right there, gas station across street. Centrally located to all the sights.
The room was good sized, had very comfortable beds, which is very important to my back. The bathroom is narrow, but shut the door and it is very sufficient. Hot water with decent pressure. Separate sink area. Had shampoo, conditioner, lotion. Good clean towels.
Room had a fridge and coffee maker. The microwave is located downstairs, where there is coffe round the clock as well. This is a 2 story hotel. Would definitely stay here again. Was a little nervous because you never know how a place is going to be. Very pleasantly surprised. Very very safe area.

Great location.

The staff is very friendly and welcoming, the hotel is kinda outdated, dirty/wet room carpet.
1.5
Bathroom so small, you can't turn around in it.
One of the queen beds was dirty. Looked like bloody residue

Great location. Staff was friendly. Room was clean and comfortable

Need to get a bigger parking lot when possible. More handicap parking spaces.

Was an enjoyable stay for a reasonable price.
2.5
As long as the bed and pillows are comfortable, the parking is easy and safe, there’s no bugs in the hotel…. We’re very happy.

The room was clean, staff friendly, good location.
My only complaints are: the smoke detector in the hallway constantly chirped because of low batteries and the exhaust fan in our room's bathroom was horrendously noisy and sounded like it was on its last leg.

The Econo Lodge Custer was very clean. The staff were friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. It's the perfect location to enjoy the Black Hills too!

Hotel was older, needed a bit of updating. But was close to all our activities.
5.0
Very safe and clean. No elevator. Parking lot was tight.

They could do a better job with breakfast offerings. Basically only had hard boiled eggs, cold cereal and fruit.
Scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy or even a waffle maker would get what is a long day on a motorcycle off to a good start.

Extremely small bathroom. We stayed 3 nights 4 days and it was never cleaned. Very old hotel.

Parking can be limited and the AC is set to only stay on 10 minutes at night but the staff, location, and hotel overall is great.

Nice place for a night, had everything we needed.

The pool was closed. Very disappointed, they did offer for us to go to another property to swim. Kind of a pain. Staff was friendly. No room service during our stay. But was clean and comfortable. Wish they’d take pool off online advertising. That was one reason we chose that place.
4.0
The only negative was the pool was closed.
GREAT very friendly staff

This hotel was nicely located for walking downtown and to restaurants. The only disappointment was my room had a shower but no bath tub (I didn't ask to see if I could change that)

Perfect place to stay in Custer. Very short drive to Custer State Park. Walkable to restaurants and shopping. Well appointed room and easy check in. Friendly staff and a spotless comfortable room. Would highly recommend. Very pleasant stay, thank you!

Location excellent. Great service
5.0
First the one thing we didn’t like - there is no elevator and our room was on the second floor. But staff was friendly and check-in and check-out went well. Bed were comfortable, lots of hot water and thick towels for showers. OK breakfast - cereals, bread and toaster, milk, orange juice, coffee, bananas, oranges, cold hard-boiled eggs. Right in the heart of Custer. Easy to walk to stores and restaurants. We’d recommend - but ask for a room on the first floor if stairs are an issue.

Well there was a sign saying there's a pool and there was no pool

Overall much better than the price point and I will stay there again if in Custer. The only negative is the WiFi. Slower than I remember dial up.

The room was a touch humid and smelled of smoke. Beds were a bit uncomfortable. Room was clean and large.
