Myself and my partner stayed 1 night and we really enjoyed it. Everything about armathwaite hall is really out of this world and the staff make you feel so welcome.

I’ve been to Armathwaite Hall for lunch or afternoon tea many times and always thought how nice it would be to stay and was not disappointed. I was booking Sunday lunch and as it’s our 40th wedding anniversary this month decided to stay over and we were delighted to receive an upgrade to a deluxe lake view room. The room was big with a really comfy king size bed and sitting area where we turned the chairs round to enjoy the relaxing lake view. The food was superb as always and we enjoyed some relaxing time in the spa too. All the staff were polite, friendly and helpful and are a credit to Armathwaite Hall. We had a lovely relaxing stay which was a great start to our anniversary celebrations.

Spent 2 nights here for our 28th wedding anniversary and loved it. Plenty of public spaces meant that it never felt overcrowded, The grandeur of the building both inside and out. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Nice selection of food and drinks. Would definitely return.

We had a wonderful night away at the Armathwaut Hall Hotel. The staff were fantastic, the setting is stunning and the spa is amazing, including the staff who will bring you drinks in the outdoor Jacuzzi. Can't recommend this place enough!

Great location hotel and excellent customer service. Special place. Great spa facilities.

The hotel was way too hot in all areas. It wasn’t a summers day but all radiators were on. Our room was unbearably hot even once we turned the radiator and towel rails off. The staff were pleasant, and I felt sorry for them as they were all facing a barrage of complaints about a multitude of things from food waiting time to undercooked/ overcooked food / room temperatures etc. On a positive although the spa is small for the size of the hotel and advertisement as the best spa hotel in the Lakes the staff were excellent in this area.
Sadly this needs an injection of good management , more staff and quality training to bring it to a four star stay !!!

It is a beautiful hotel and all the staff was fantastic!! The room was amazing!
Fiona at the front desk went out of her way to welcome us. A perfect person to start our hotel stay. Very informative and welcoming!
Our dinner and breakfast host Manjo (I probably have spelled his name wrong) was GREAT! My wife has a dairy intolerance and he made sure at night everything was dairy free and he remembered the next morning.
All the staff who waited on us we very pleasant, smiling and friendly. You have a great team at this hotel. Please thank everyone for us.

Outstanding location and grounds, exceptionally kept. The hotel does require a little TLC but for the price point you're likely to have a nice stay.

it was a great base for our walking holiday with the dog and we were well looked after. the brasserie food was excellent and breakfast kept us going all day on the fells. The spa was a welcome place to relax and recharge the body afterwards too.

Beautiful hotel in Lake District. The rooms were spacious and spotless having all the facilities you nerd for a comfortable stay. The bed was huge and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious with a broad selection of food.
The evening meal was superb. Beautifully prepared food with good choice.
We spent time in the spa we which was excellent and loved outdoor pool.
Loved our stay.

Welcomed with a friendly smile and a complimentary drink. We felt comfortable as soon as we walked in. We were asked if we wanted our luggage taking to our room, we declined and opted to take it ourselves. Bad mistake! Finding the room turned into an impossible task, we had to ask for help. There were doors and stairs everywhere but unfortunately, not many signs or directions.
Apart from this initial mistake, we had a fabulous two night stay. The staff couldn't do enough for you. The service was excellent and the hall was spectacular. The food was cooked to perfection at breakfast and dinner times. We're pescatarians and meals were easily altered to our requirements when they contained meat.
The spa was heavenly and the massages we had were sublime!
We went on a short walk to the lake following a route given to us at reception. The only mishap was the route didn't mention that we were OK to enter private grounds at a gate that was locked after crossing the road after the bridge. We entered through a gap in the hedge. This aside the scenery around and across the lake was spectacular. The grounds are very well maintained and we even came across pigs near the wildlife park.
All told, we had an excellent break and it made celebrating my 60th birthday a memorable occasion

Lovely old house but too cold for us. Hugh has a heart problem & found the restaurant cold & we both found our bedroom cold / radiator came on one day after I complained but was off again the next day. We didn’t like the creaky old lift either- I trapped my finger once!

Not dog friendly as advertised-too many restrictions & 7pm curfew
Very strict on using spa close to discharge time-additional charge £20pp
No hooks in bathroom/bedroom despite new build-room decor good

The room was really comfortable with a huge bed, a separate dressing room, a sofa and both separate bath and shower. The seats on the balcony reclined and looked out towards the trees and the lake. We had an hour to try out the Spa and loved the outside hot tub. Only wish we were staying longer to try out all the facilities and walk around the grounds

Spa is terrific, our initial room allocated was very small but the upgrade was excellent. Some staff were well trained but unfortunately some other staff in dining room were not quite up to scratch.

Poor service. Inflexible and inattentive staff. Very dated property. Very expensive.

To much regimentation, dinner had to be pre booked every day, even though it was as you know paid for on booking with you. There was no mini bar or fridge in the room the bathroom especially the bath and shower were inadequate and awkward to use. The menu for dinner was the same for all 3 days . Not the standard I expected for a 4 star hotel when I booked it with you

I was after pure peace and quiet for a few days. Armathwaite offered just that and more! Absolutely stunning hotel, The moment you drive into the grounds and then pull up you see this grand castle, it’s breathtakingly beautiful. I thoroughly enjoyed my two night break. The staff are wonderful! The gym was excellent, I didn’t use the spa but they offered a huge range of treatments! I literally felt like a princess, the hotel has kept its traditional decor with a touch of modern and stylish! Pure luxury!

The building is amazing and very impressive. The check in was superb and they even wrapped a present for my partner for me as I hadn’t had time to do it before I arrived.
Unfortunately the food is average and the menu is limited. If they could get this part right then it would have been an overall great visit.

Superb hotel if your looking for a relaxing couple of days away. Very attentive staff & thoroughly clean throughout. Especially at Christmas with all the decorations & roaring fires in the evening…

Fantastic experience, luxury hotel with a wildlife park next door. Meeting Alpacas in the morning and then in the Spa in the afternoon followed by the incredible bar with a high class dinner. Highly recommend.

Hotel is set in beautiful grounds. Very dated and in need of modernisation. Food choices very poor indeed and expensive. Overall really disappointed. Outdoor spa needs a good clean.

Just an amazing stay in a luxurious hotel ideally set within lovely gardens and views down to Bassenthwaite. The room had everything you could want for a comfortable stay and it was worth booking the deluxe room. Used the spa for 90 mins before dinner which was a wonderful way to spend the late afternoon after hiking Binsey. Had 5 more Wainwright’s to hike the next day so lovely to relax in all the spa facilities. Food was lovely - the only problem was getting a drink early evening in the bar area as it was waiter service and not enough of them for the amount of guests in the area. No issue at all but that is the only small fault we could find and easily corrected I am sure once all the Covid restrictions are resolved. A wonderful hotel with excellent food and superb location. Book it now.

Perfect place for a few days’ honeymoon! Everything about Armathwaite Hall was beautiful from the room to the Spa and the food.
Cannot recommend it highly enough.

Lovely Hotel full of traditional character but our disappointment was that we stayed in December as a special treat for my husband who will be away at Christmas and we had no sleep due to the howling winds and rattling doors being up on the top floor in room 122. I mentioned this at checkout and discovered another couple had the same problem. The response was we should have mentioned it to staff but in all honesty who is going to remove all their belongings and move rooms in the middle of the night. No discount was offered on what was a very expensive room. Otherwise the stay would have been very enjoyable and the Christmas decorations were beautiful.
