Incredible getaway for myself where I was just looking for a few days to relax. Activities during the day to keep you occupied if needed and decent entertainment at night but this is a relaxed resort so don't expect anything late into the evenings.

Overall property was nice and clean, however the dining was horrible and the service was not very fast. Food options were minimal, and you had to make reservations to eat dinner anywhere but the buffet. The buffet was small and not good protein options. Also the American food options were just bad - they had a lot of Indian and bizarre foods available. Room service food was also bad and actually made us sick. We paid for an upgraded room but our provided concierge wouldn’t book reservations for our whole group. There were times when our room wasn’t cleaned until 3pm and there were not even that many people at the resort. Also, they wouldn’t serve us Baileys with our morning coffee until 10am but they were okay with giving us mimosas with alcohol - which doesn’t make sense. None of these have ever been issues at any other resort we’ve stayed at. Overall not impressed

Everything about this property was above and beyond all of my expectations! It was so peaceful and serene, and the staff was so accommodating and lovely! Each moment felt special and unique, and I am definitely coming back again!

The property was fantastic. It was as clean as it was luxurious. The pools, beach, food, and activities were all superb.

We stayed on the adult/ LaPerla side this time after staying on the family side numerous times over the years. The hotel itself if BEAUTIFUL, especially on the adult side. However, the adult pool was a total no for us. The music/ DJ was so loud, we couldn't hear each other and the "entertainment" was pulling female guests up for a twerking contest. No thanks. The bartenders at the pool bar were just so unfriendly and the wait was way too long for a drink. And the pool itself looked worn and kind of dirty. So, while we totally loved the adult side atmosphere and lack of kids, we hung out at the family pool every day just to avoid that whole pool and scene.

The staff was extremely friendly and that made the stay bearable, but the amenities were misleading. When we booked it said premium drinks the selection was not premium, at best mid shelf. Our flight was delayed so when we got to hotel we were not able to make any dinner reservations, they tell you to go and see about seating but they can never accommodate you. The buffet is limited, not a big selection for any of the meals, snack bar by pool had better food. We were upgrade to the Reserve area but our in room tub did not work, one of the 2 showers was also not functioning and to call for room service we had to use the bathroom phone. All in all it was a good vacation, can't stress enough how nice and willing to accommodate the staff was which is the only reason I would consider going back but don't think it deserves a 4 or 5 star rating.

The hotel is beautiful. It’s an oasis and the room is gorgeous. This has been the only hotel so far after 10 years of traveling that has accommodated me well by being an Expedia member. The food, however, has to be revamped. Staff added too water to the sauces, beans and other condiments. It was hit and miss. My only favorites were the papaya and the green chilaquiles. There should be a buffet open 24/7 with a variety of food every day. The strawberry margarita and the mango one were delicious. The outside city surrounding the hotel is unsafe, though.

I would like to share the pros and cons of this hotel, as compared to dozens of other all-inclusive resorts we have visited throughout the Caribbean since 1999.
Pros:
1. The resort is very modern and beautiful.
2. The buffet (Hadar restaurant) was probably the best we have ever seen.
3. Staff throughout the resort was very kind and friendly.
4. We appreciated the adult-only section, as not all resorts have them.
5. It was easy to book Spa service and Room Service.
Cons:
1. AC was not sufficiently cold in our room and in Asian restaurant. We requested a fan for the room to improve air flow, but it wasn't available. Also, no ceiling fans in open air bars and areas where DJs perform.
2. We wrote to concierge that we are coming for our anniversary and requested booking a restaurant for us ahead of our arrival. They did the booking, but there was nothing special on the day of our anniversary: neither in the restaurant nor in the room (other hotels made swans out of towels and put rose petals for us).
3. Several times, we took a Bali Bed on the beach, and the attendant would inform us that this section is reservations only. There were no signs and nobody informed us during check-in. No orientation to the hotel rules and areas either. After we observed several more couples being chased away from those beds, the beds just sat empty. Nobody knew how to reserve them.
4. The night entertainment was geared towards families with children with shows at 8 pm. Not much adult entertainment.

Everything was great. The only bad thing was the food.

Gorgeous resort with excellent customer service. Highly recommend the reserve upgrade if you’re on the adults only side.

After the Delta IT outage fiasco our originally planned trip got cancelled altogether and so we booked this place on a Tuesday night and arrived Thursday afternoon and can say we were very pleasantly impressed with our selection. The service was mostly great at the restaurants and pools. There were a few times I was trying to set up a bed by the beach or a chair by the pool when a little assistance would have been very helpful and appreciated but apart from that everyone we encountered was very friendly and accommodating. We upgraded to The Reserve and glad we did because we had a separate pool, access to the beach, and private restaurant and in general was nice to escape to when the party at the main pool got to be a little much. Our concierge Julie was wonderful. The room and the grounds were gorgeous and so well maintained and clean. Easy to get into downtown to 5th avenue too. We enjoyed walking around and people watching. Highly recommend this resort and would absolutely come back. It was lovely and relaxing and exactly what we were hoping for after a failed vacation earlier in the week.

Had to move rooms twice because the air conditioning wasn’t working in our first room. The second room had a strong smell of mold or mildew and it was making us feel nauseous. Then the third room had to have a repair due to a leak and they came in to fix it at midnight!
2.0 / 5.0
Service, staff, luxuries all great… the only downside was the food. I give it a 3/10, buffet option was very small compared to other all inclusive resorts. The restaurants that required reservation were like 5/10 very mediocre. The only thing I had no complaints about was the Farenheit grill/snack by the pool that was a 10/10! Also our pillows in the room had a nasty smell, like when it gets wet and dries up and can’t take that smell off!

Paradisus La Perla was phenomenal! The staff, first and foremost, went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The thoughts and care that went into curating this property was mind blowing. The options, the amenities, the food, the pools, the beach, the ambiance!! A rainy day there was as magical and fulfilling as a sunny day! I will definitely be back.

One of the best resort!

I like the rooms. Beautiful resort. I dislike the experience. Customers should know that the resort has strict times. Pool 7-7. All restraints need reservations by 4 pm. Bars and food close at 11. 1 club stays open till 1. Alcohol is not 24 hrs. Room service is slow. Lemurs join you at dinner and eat off your plate at the taco restaurant.

Everything is nice

Beautiful landscape and modern touches throughout property give a wonderfully romantic vibe without being overcrowded like most resorts. That being said, there are numerous finishes that are in desperate need of repair/updating (our room door had smudges all over it, the room numbers were falling off, the baseboards in many of the local restrooms were rotted, the finishing on numerous bathroom doors was peeling away, the telephone in our room did not work, along with a lamp, etc.), and there are ZERO fans in common areas to help keep the air moving so it will feel stifling hot even once the sun goes down (we went end of June/beginning of July) and prevent you from spending too much time in those areas even if you may want to. The mosquitos are horrendous (definitely bring bug spray, not the citronella wrist bands like us, which did nothing), and be prepared to see lots of random critters that may get too close for comfort. The pool does close early (7 pm) but that never bothered us since we did not come to hang out at the pool. The bar areas are nice, and there is even a winery we didn’t discover until our last day (bummer). This would definitely be a place we return to, as long as the price is right.

Where do I start? The property is very beautiful, but very big hard to get around. Staff was very unfriendly never greeted you. I never could give you any directions anywhere… Beach was open to the public, and it was very nasty! Restaurants were horrible! Will never returned to Playa del Carmen again:(

DO NOT stay at this hotel or any of the Meliá hotels. Go stay at the Moon Palace or Hilton. They are a disgusting company and hotel. At Sal’s steak house they served me a raw piece of meat on the first night there. They have “no” record of the incident even with me having text with their staff to document it. If you get sick by them be ready to pay $250 dollars for the onsite doctor. They sent a scamming doctor to my room that wanted me to pay $2,000 for meds. She confirmed I had an infection and they wanted to send me in a taxi to a hospital. I denied and messaged my doctor at home. I upgraded Upon arrival and didn’t get to enjoy the swim up. The managers were rude and interrupted our only dinner to tell us they would only credit me $180. Then wanted me to sign a legal document to silence me and stop me from talking about it. They were supposed to send me a copy of me denying to sign that they made me write on it but they “don’t have” that as well. I wasted over $5k to be sick in my room. If you are planning a presidents club don’t take your company here either.
