Nice hotel. Great location. Amazing views from restaurant/cafe terrace.

Great service great hotel great location

The hotel can not be reached by car(Uber) as they have to stop as the end of the road it’s a pedestrian road, so you have to take your cases down the end of the road which was fine for us but if you are less mobile this hotel would not be good for you as it has no lift.
The benefits outweigh the positives , great views from rooftop bar and restaurant; very clean and staff friendly. I would suggest you use Uber , it’s easy and a lot cheaper than the hotel booking you a taxis to the cruise port.

Loved the neighborhood and the view from the restaurant on the outdoor patio is amazing! Convenient location if you are taking a cruise. The hotel offers a shuttle. Only downfall is the hotel is hard to find. It’s situated down a path where no cars can go. You will need to walk a bit, and go down some stairs to get to the property.

The hotel staff were very nice and helpful. The hotel was located in a lane way not accessible to cars. We had to drag our luggage down the lane and steps to get to the hotel which was on top of a hill. The hotel room had no air conditioning and no closets. It was quaint. The restaurant was great. Lovely views and the food was delicious. The breakfast was very good and healthy. The service was very good.

Charming rooms. The staff were outstanding and the view from the rooftop restaurant is fabulous.

Fauna Hotel is located at mid-hill level of Valparaiso and visit to historic buildings can be done in foot. The hotel also lies in restricted area where large vans are forbidden to enter. Passengers and luggages have to be dropped off the main road and there is a distance of 10 min walk to move between the hotel and drop off location. However, taxi and small vans can reach the hotel at closer range. But still there is a distance of about 30 metres to walk through.
However, the hotel staff and friendly and helpful. The room and toilet are clean and reasonbly spacious. Restaurant is located at upper floor and has good overlooking view of the city and serves dinner and breakfast. Breakfast food is good though choice is rather limited.
I reccommend the hotel for short stays of one or two days where visit to historical locations is the main purpose.

Simple but charming hotel. Stay here for the view, and tranquility… when the pigeons are not fighting outside 😁 I did not sleep well because of the birds and general noise (obviously completely out of hotel control) but also because the room was stuffy. If you open windows the noise becomes more prevalent, but without opening there is no airflow. Highly recommend the hotel put a floor fan in each room. Otherwise, very kind staff and cute restaurant upstairs.

Fauna Hotel is well located within few steps from Reina Victoria elevator. Staff is kind and helpful, they recommend activities and places to eat. Room was comfortable, nice good quality bed, bathroom has a good size too. We got a room with amazing sea view. Restaurant at the hotel has a very beautiful view too and good food for lunch.
Cons:
Breakfast is really fair and eggs are available upon request and are not well prepared, bread was awful. Very little offer and fruits not looking fresh either.
Our room with sea view was extremely noisy

Fauna hotel was an amazing experience in a beautiful location. The rooms are adorable and very clean. The breakfast is delicious and the view from the hotel is extraordinary.

FANTASTIC! The hotel is located in one of the main walking alleys in Valparaíso. The staff was great, gave us advise and were always helpful. They have a great restaurant with a terrace that rounds up the experience. The only thing to consider is that it might not be accesible to people with reduced mobility.

Very unique hotel. Perfect location for walking and discovering the area with graffiti everywhere. The staff are lovely and helpful with heavy luggage. Thankyou Sebastion!!

I loved being at the top of the hill and near fun dining and shopping options! The hotel is very unique and fun and the terrace restaurant has fantastic views! The staff was very friendly as well.

Beautiful hotel, however the staff are not particularly friendly. Breakfast selection is very disappointing.

Amazing building spread through a number of original Valparaiso houses.
Great location in the middle of Cerro Alegre.
Great staff, professional and friendly
Claudia from reception couldn’t do enough to make my stay one yo remember.
Will go back for sure.

Really unique hotel in an excellent area.
Staff and restaurant were awesome. Only thing we didn't like was that the Wifi was not great and unfortunately that is an important thing for us when we travel.

Staff is very helpful however need to provide more information and directions to if anything else is available and or working. For example had climb two huge stories up to find out if room to room phone could be done.

Staff was helpful but getting to property with bags is very difficult for senior people.
Taxi does not drop off at hotel.

Fauna is a great hotel: ecologically friendly design with great use of public areas (only issue maybe the lack of an elevator, so if you have ability issues it may not be the best). The restaurant has top-notch dishes and cocktails. It is also set on their top floor, with a terrace that has great views of the city below. If you walk by the hotel, in their main street, it is hard to imagine how spacious and cool the hotel and restaurant are inside.
Most of all, I was impressed with their hospitality: all the workers were friendly, accommodating, informative, patient, especially the receptionists. They helped us find tours, taxis and solved any issues. I would repeat FAUNA in a heartbeat!

We loved the hotel and what they have done with the pre-existing older homes, the renovation and reuse of old materials is impressive. We love that they're working at being eco friendly. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The view from our room and from breakfast was amazing. The front desk staff were so very helpful, espcailly Sebastian and Vincent (I believe). Thank you to everyone!

the HOTEL for me is the best hotel in VALPARAISO for its location and design
I have asked for a nice room and they have given me the best view and the staff was super friendly
the area is the most beautiful.- my only recommendations would be to improve the internet connection and maybe the breakfast too (although everything is delicious and you can repeat what you eat, I feel that it is not at the level of the hotel) the breakfast terrace / restaurant is great!
yes I would return to this hotel and I would recommend it to everyone for being the best

This is the second time I stay here as I loved it the first time. The free breakfast is great are so are the facilities and the location. The only thing that needs improvement is the staff as they could use being more courteous and welcoming. We were not greeted as we walked in and then they could not find my reservation! At no point in time were they apologetic about it, just overall not very polite both when we arrived and when we left.

A terrific stay at the Fauna. The hotel is very modern, with a very unique layout situated up the steep hillsides in a very nice 'neighborhood' of Valparaiso. Restaurant offered and excellent breakfast on the deck.

Fauna Hotel is by far the best hotel in Valparaiso. The rooftop restaueant is a must, and Lucia makes everyone feel so comfortable.

The Fauna Hotel is a unique hotel. It was lovingly created. The hotel and rooms are on 4 floors. Our rooms were on the bottom floor 1 (the reception is on floor 3). Thankfully Iris greeted us when we arrived and carried my heavy suitcase down the 2 long flights of stairs. (Someone else carried it back up).
The restaurant (4th floor) served an excellent breakfast buffet, including custom eggs. We had dinner there and all the food and wine were fabulous. The view of Valpariso from the restaurant was AMAZING! The hotel is located right at the top of a funicular and near some bakeries and small shops. We did a lot of walking in Valpariso! It's a lovely city. The Fauna is in a great area, and it's easy to get to many other places in Valpo by walking. Uber is also available in the city.
Our room on floor 1 had a street outside of the window, but it was closed overnight and quiet. Our first morning included construction workers literally right outside our window! (Luckily we were already awake). The staff had warned us, but it was still a shock.
In addition to the stairs, you cannot get to the hotel directly from the street. You have to walk in about 2 blocks, with some steps too. This was not a problem for us, but would be for some people. The hotel does not have an elevator, and the stairs in the hotel would be problematic for some also.
Wifi worked very well.
If you are fit, this hotel is unique and lovely. Highly recommend.

The property itself is quite amazing. Architecture, theme, decor, facilities and amenities, certain views, general atmosphere are all great or excellent. Restaurant staff was amazing and breakfast is amazing. Hotel staff was hit or miss, most were great/excellent, but a few bad apples made the difference. Staff from room cleaning service tried to enter twice in the same day with us inside without knocking and the lady at the counter who checked us in and coincidentally was there while we checked out was not really helpful and dismissive of our concerns as guests. No hotel staff offered help.
Our only true concern was the fact that the hotel's inaccessibility and hidden location is not mentioned in the Expedia description. We missed the one costumer review that warns others about this. The hotel is not closed to the beach, there is no true beach in this industrial/port city, and the hotel is not in a central location, it is hidden in a pedestrian path up Cerro Alegre hill with no vehicle access. Maybe this is part of the "charm", but if you don't know, you don't know. We didn't and after a month cruising in Ecuador, Peru, and Chile, we wanted a break in a nice hotel. Having to lug out all of our bags from our rental car after trying to find the hotel was not what we expected. Had we known, we could've made a couple of day bags and leave all our equipment in the car. but this wasn't possible and really soured or experience.

There is no parking on site and the hotel is not accessible by car (it’s on a pedestrian only road). Enquired in advance about parking and on the day of, was directed to either park on a back street (tip: try to park either on Doctor Jose Grossi or on Capilla) on a neighbouring lot for 12,000 Chilean pesos. There are no elevators on site. Had to walk up/down 3-4 flights of stairs. There is no view. You can hear every word that other guests are saying next door as well as conversations at the restaurant on the top floor. There is zero insulation on the walls or on the door.
It is a beautiful hotel despite all that. One of the most beautiful and newest in the area. Breakfast included is hearty and you can order great coffee (latte, americano, cappuccino... you name it) and proteins & fats like avocado, ham, eggs (fried or scrambeld) in addition to simple breads and desserts from a breakfast menu (at no extra chaege). The view from the rooftop restaurant is great.

Brilliant location, right by the funicular. The current building is beautiful and very interesting, cut out of the hillside and joining two former houses together. The rooftop restaurant is perfect with stunning views but take a jacket as the wind from the Pacific can be chilly and some rooms are in deep shade.
The reception staff were very welcoming and friendly and put us in touch with an excellent walking tour by two local history enthusiasts who did the whole thing in period costume!

Great location at the top of the vernacular right in the heart it.

My husband and I stayed four nights at the Fauna hotel while exploring Valparaiso. I considered many other options and was extremely happy I selected Fauna. The location is perfect, the hotel is charming and comfortable and the staff is friendly and helpful. The rooftop restaurant has stunning views and is a wonderful place to be for breakfast or anytime for drinks or a meal. We enjoyed our time in Valp and staying at the Fauna made it even more special. Highly recommend the Fauna!

The staff are very friendly and helpful. The restaurant/bar is the highlight with great views, food and reasonably priced drinks.
Although the standard rooms are modern and comfortable they are very small and basic - no wardrobe/shelves for clothes, no tea/coffee facilities, no fridge. Although we enjoyed our stay and thought the staff were amazing, we thought the rooms were very basic for the price.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Fauna Hotel. The rooms and decor are super cool, amazing views, ideal location, and great restaurant upstairs. The staff were also very helpful with suggestions and lending us socket converters.

We enjoyed our stay. The hotel was in a great location to enjoy Valparaíso. The restaurant was also very good with great views.
