Great staff and very quaint

It is an old building but well maintained. Staff were all very friendly and accommodating. Location was extremely convenient.

The location is terrific. That’s why the prices are so high ($525 p night). For the price, I would expect a little more upkeep. The wallpaper was faded and torn, the furniture was scratched up. Pillows were flat. There is no front desk staff after 9 PM. There are a lot of other Inns and hotel rooms around there that are less expensive.

Cute place in a great location. Everything was clean and staff was helpful

This inn is a perfect location. The room was spacious and clean. The continental breakfast and free parking were great perks!

This property would not be a place I would normally stay in, but the LOCATION and the PRICE were great. The Inn was super clean, the shower was super hot and had great pressure, and the breakfast in the morning was simple with bagels, English Muffins, fruit, yogurt, and cereal options. What more could you ask for free? They always say location is the most impt thing so this place it was LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!!!

Rooms were very outdated. Bathroom was updated and worked well.
Staff( Jennifer) was amazing!
There was an issue with my room when I arrived and she made sure everything was perfect!
With continental breakfast included made a huge difference.
Don’t know who she was but the chef prepping the food for the buffet was one of the most genuine and nice people I have ever met. Wish I could hire her!! If you can get over the outdated rooms this place is a hidden gem!

Friendly staff and breakfast at hotel was amazing. Would stay here again.

Great location and loved the rooftop patio. The room was a bit dated and could use some blackout curtains, but otherwise very comfortable. We also were right by a morning shuffling of garbage cans —likely a city worker and not the fault of the hotel at all—but it was quite an early, noisy garbage can ordeal outside.

We enjoyed our stay at the Admiral Fitzroy Inn this week. The location was centrally located amidst the wharves and shopping places. There are plenty of options for eating on the go or sitting down for dinner along the waterfront. The Inn served breakfast every morning with quite a selection of foods to choose from. I loved the historical feel of the building- and yes there is an elevator!
Being an old building, the walls were thin, but not so much as to interfere with a good night's sleep after walking around Newport. We had a back corner room with a beautiful breeze coming in through the windows.
Thames St. is a one-way on this part, so there is a lot of traffic all day- including trucks... But don't let that interfere with the ambiance of the Inn.

Property was in a great location and the staff was great. Breakfast was a nice surprise

It was a nice room. The bed was comfy. The room was clean. Front desk was pleasant. Asked for extra towels and they brought it up in a basket. The morning continental breakfast was great! The food was homemade and not the hotel variety of food you get. They locked the doors after 8 pm and you have to use a key to get in. My husband liked that feature. Would stay at this place again.

Nothing the place was disgusting. It smelled like mold and the furniture in the room was broken.

We were attending the tennis tournament in Newport and wanted to stay nearby. This B&B has a very good location and they have parking which was great. The check-in was a little bumpy but turned out fine. The room was rather shoddy and a bit sad. Shades we're broken, the bathroom needed updating. For the money they charge, the breakfast could be better. There's a difference between quaint and tired. Still, the staff does the best they can and the location was right.

Unique inn with pleasant staff in a lovely part of Newport. Location is walkable to cute shops and restaurants. Charming continental breakfast with place settings, table cloths and cloth napkins! My daughter loved the roof deck. It was so much nicer than a big box hotel and I would stay there again if I am in Newport.

Great location and friendly staff. Room was a bit tired but we enjoyed our stay.

Check in was okay expected a friendlier greeting. The room was good, clean but missing soap for the sink. The bed could have been more comfortable. The TV was very tiny but in working condition. Continental breakfast was good but no hot food.

I loved the history of the property and the historic relation to admiral Fitzroy that sailed the Beagle with Darwin.

Ernst effort put into breakfast presentation; replenished regularly; no one missed out on fruit salad or coffee cake or boiled eggs, etc.

The staff were amazing, super helpful and friendly. Our room was meticulous, very clean and cozy. Perfect location, walk to everything.

We chose a place that was conveniently located to downtown, unknowingly how loud it is after 9pm. We had our windows open, and there hoards of (probably) intoxicated people up and down Thames until about 2am. The next night, we shut the windows and turned on the AC and it was much better.

The Fitzroy cannot be beat for location. They provide private parking and you won't need the car again if you wander Newport proper. We've stayed many times over the years and always find the manager welcoming and have interesting conversations. Breakfast is basic offerings...no hot meals. We did not see any water damage as noted in other reviews. It probably is more noisy at the height of the season however was perfect in November. Our room was perfect size...with a couch and table with 2 chairs. Good size bathroom. We will stay there again and are purchasing gift certificates for family as gifts.

This place is a gem from the person at the desk when you walk in to the stepping back in time to my Nanas house It’s full of character and lovely If you want a swimming pool and hot tub don’t come here but if you want that warm cozy feeling of nostalgia and the feeling people care — come here and sit by the lace curtained window and eat breakfast and smile
