The hotel was beautifully designed. The restaurant has a 360 degree view of the surrounding mountains. The view from our room was fantastic well. We weren’t there long enough to experience additional facilities. The man and woman at the desk when we checked in were very helpful in trying to help us track down a lost wallet and they even let us borrow a flashlight. The bed was comfortable. My only complaint is that the sink is very small so water got splashed when I was washing my face. However this is pretty standard in Iceland so I won’t deduct any stars for that small annoyance. Breakfast was good and they had great coffee. We saw the northern lights. Overall great stay.

Lovely hotel with delicious breakfast! The hot tub was also very nice and relaxing to use.

Loved this hotel. Beautiful lobby. The breakfast included with your stay is wonderful. Fruit, meats, cheeses, oatmeal, cereal, bread, veggies, eggs, etc. The hot tubs and cold plunge are very relaxing. Ask for housecoats at the front desk. Would 100% stay again.

After driving just over 4 hours from the Westfjords, we realized that we left behind a carry on. We approached the front desk and asked if he could help us reach the inn we were staying at. It turns out the police had our bag and he called the police and asked them to put the bag on Iceland air cargo and we could have it by the time we went to Reykjavik, the next day! He ended up being the assistant manager. Sure enough we got our bag when we arrived in Reykjavik. We were soooo thankful that we did not have to make the drive back to the Westfjords to pick up our bag!
Service was fantastic, the food was excellent in the hotel with great views, and the hot spring bath was relaxing.
Theodore at the restaurant also gave us excellent service! Stay where the locals stay! : ) Thank you Arnar for your outstanding service!

The whole surrounding area is beautiful. The rooms are spacious, clean, and modern.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Varmaland. The property was beautiful. The room was nice and spacious. The bathroom was very small. The sink was so small that it was almost unusable. The shower did have a curtain; however, the shower itself was so little that the curtain kept rubbing up against you. We loved the breakfast and it was included with the stay.

Everything was great except for a small bathroom!
4.6
Beautiful property in good condition. Breakfast was OK but could be better. Strange checkout policy that charges by the hour.

best restaurant we ate at in all of Iceland. very cool area around the property with geothermal heat. rooms are small that is the only knock on the place

Beautiful new facility. Very comfortable
4.6
Beautiful rooms and property.
4.6
Great bed, plenty of amenities. Only issue was the ultra thin walls. Still managed a good night of sleep, but you could hear everything in the hallway, above, and behind!
4.6
Very good dinner and friendly staff. Highly recommended.
4.6
Absolutely an amazing hotel, our room was fantastic! The staff is super friendly and professional. The restaurant on the top floor was 1st class.
4.6
Lovely location and view. Great staff and food.

The property was situated in a beautiful location. The room was clean and comfortable. Staff were polite and helpful and the restaurant was wonderful.

Just wanted to say the staff here made our trip memorable. The breakfast was fantastic. Prior to arriving I let the staff know we would be arriving early due to a early flight and needed to freshen up due to me proposing. They made the accommodation. I asked while we were at dinner if they could do something special in the room and they did. The host at the restaurant was very suave with letting me know that everything in the room was ready. The restaurant was an absolute treasure and I will be eating there for sure on our next visit. The rooms were super clean and beds were very comfortable

The hotel is in a nice rural landscape of Iceland with a hiking opportunity nearby (map on the reception desk). However some dogs of the nearby farmers do not like hikers, wehn you are walking on the street in front of the hotel.
The rooms have a good size. Bathroom amenities are from Iceland, produced by Soley.
The hotel features a very good restaurant with good views which is worth a visit by itself.
A good breakfast is also served in the restaurant. Weirdly, you have to ask for spoons.

Good property but very tiny bathroom, specially vanity

I recommend this property to everyone

The hotel was clean, breakfast delicious and very friendly staff. The sink in the bathroom could have been a little bigger, but beside that our stay was perfect 👍
4.6
Nice restaurant and very nice rooms for the price

New, modern building. Premium feel. Great food. Helpful staff.

We only stayed one night but wished we would have booked for longer. Very nice hotel, very clean and the staff was excellent, friendly and informative. Highly recommend choosing this hotel for your stay.

I would have given it 5 out of 5 if it wasn’t for the ridiculously small bathroom sink, a cloakroom sink really…with nowhere to put your toiletries next to it…and the shower is equally a silly design; too small, shower curtain sticks to you and the water goes everywhere. BUT the staff are great, communal areas are great, the buffet breakfast is excellent and the breakfast dining room is a lovely space. Comfortable bed, had to ask for extra pillows…Icelandic hotels only seem to give one pillow each on the beds which is weird. It’s not as soundproofed as they make it out to be…we could hear people talking in the next room and people walking around in the room above…and doors opening and close. BUT (!) everyone went to sleep early because they’re all sightseeing in the nearby national park so luckily it wasn’t a big deal. Bring ear plugs just in case.

Very small room but very comfy and clean.

Nice hotel in a beautiful rural area with geothermal heated greenhouses across the street. The restaurant at the 4th floor offers a very good dinner with incredible skyr mousse for dessert.
We were given an accessible at check-in room but would have preferred a standard room due to the inconvenience of a shower curtain. Also, the air flow in the room was not working as expected. After a shower you had to open the windows and the door otherwise the bathroom and the bedroom stayed damp and humid.
4.6
No staff on service after midnight (including no wakeup for Northern Lights).
Small bathroom and even smaller sink.
Breakfast buffer was very good and included with room. I think that was a change, and very happy.
Great area of the country.
4.6
Great Location for seeing the Northern Lights; which we did while we were there; Fantastic!! Daniel at the reception was terrific offering up suggestions for seeing them; and for other site seeing as well. Restaurant Calor on the top floor offers terrific views; and delicious dinners. Breakfast buffet was included. Free on site parking. Hotel does have elevator. TV in the room...this was only location where we received more than one channel. Rooms were comfortable---my only negative is a "double room" is actually 2 twin beds pushed together...that gap between the two gets wider with tossing and turning; so that woke me up a few times. We had two nights at this location. Would stay again.

A beautiful modern property in a pristine setting near Borgarnes. Simple modern rooms. Beautiful restaurant and great breakfast.
4.6
A bit isolated but nice. The hotel has a nice restauran and there are no real food options anywhere close, except at a gas station and at the Krauma hot baths.
Note that the hotel operates it's own green house to grow vegetables and that this green house is brightly lit 24hrs a day.
4.6
Super clean, modern hotel. There's a small outcropping you can take a short hike up nearby to see over the entire area.
Restaurant was on the top floor, which allowed for nice views while eating. Included breakfast was great!
The hotel is in an area with only some geothermal buildings and a school around it, so if you need anything, you're driving to it.
4.6
Very nice hotel. We stayed here after a week in a camper van so the beds were like clouds. Very clean hotel with a wonderful breakfast in the morning. It is not really close to anything so unless you plan to eat before your stay plan to dine in their restaurant. Would stay here again.
4.6
Great stay at Hotel Varmaland as we drove the Ring Road. Friendly staff, comfortable beds, easy parking and clean room. We enjoyed the dinner and breakfast from their hotel restaurant. I recommend making dinner reservations if you have a preference of time.
4.6
We loved our stay here; everything was seamless, from the check-in to the delicious breakfast the next morning. Hotel Varmaland was one of our favorite places to stay during our ten days in Iceland.
4.6
Check in staff was brusque. Kitchen staff at end of the meal were using ‘f’ word repeatedly from the open kitchen. Food was excellent. The breakfast was superb in quality and variety. Shower drain was not properly slanted so bathroom. Water filled floor around toilet. Check out gentleman was very friendly and helpful.
4.6
Great hotel with good breakfast
