The hotel was really pretty. Not too far from the station but we took a cab to get there, having missed the shuttle. Given the proximity to the train station, it wasn't expensive.
We got a nice welcome with a fireplace in the lobby. Our room was nice, although smaller than we expected. We did manage. It also had a nice small balcony with a nice view of the courtyard behind the hotel as it snowed.
The restaurant was the highlight. The setting was romantic, the food top-notch and we did have a nice time.
They also have a shuttle at checkout time that took us back to the train / Shinkansen station. It's a free shuttle that leaves at set times and I would highly recommend it, particularly if it is raining or snowing.
Rooms were smaller than expected. But manageable.

I had a good view of autumn leaves from a small window as well as from a small balcony. Bath was big and nice.
I booked for 2 nights at a luxury price for a nice weekend getaway. But this place was so uncomfy, we had to leave after one night. Of course they didn't pay me back. The room was not equipped/ designed right. There was a small TV on a wall near entrance, far from the sofa, so we couldn't see it. There was no desk, no chairs, no reading lights nor night tables. Two beds were pushed together but the covers were not wide enough. It was so hard that we couldn't sleep, and the pillows felt like they were stuffed with rocks. The towels were thin and nasty. You could hear noise from next door and doors banging throughout the building. The breakfast was terrible, with a tiny selection of inedible stuff. Their main breakfast dishes were so tiny that everyone had to scavenge for cereals and sausages.

The hotel is classical and has a forest and garden. The rooms have a bath tub in the bathroom but the hotel has many individual small outdoor Onsen which is called Rotenburo. Some of them have Ganbanbuto. They were so nice. And the restaurant has terrace table. To have breakfast in the terrace or outside was really nice because even summertime , the temperature is not hot , feeling fantastic.
The hotel building made from woods. So I sometimes heard noise from other rooms or somewhere. There are some buildings combine together so it’s sometimes little bit far to go to restaurant and front or something. There’s no elevator, so it’s inconvenient for older people or the people who have babies.
We stayed in the newer building but actually not so new and it’s in the forest so not so clean, I mean they clean but there were spiderwebs in the ceiling.

The room is very spacious with modern design. The shopping outlet and major scenic spots are within 5 to 30 minutes driving distance. Guests can enjoy private onsen for 45 minutes free of charge per every day. For stay with two consecutive nights, a 2000 yen shopping coupon is offered for guests not requiring room cleaning. The breakfast is very delicious. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
Nothing.

Very charming resort with lovely rooms and good facilities. We loved the open air bath that you can book for 45 min for yourself. The room was spacious and clean and the place felt like a lovely place to spend a weekend surrounded by nature.
The only reason for the low rating was the hotel restaurant, that was extremely disappointing. It was one of the top three most expensive meals of our entire trip, yet the only really bad one. The staff was lovely and attentive, but the food was very poor. They claim to have this cool concept around fresh local vegetables, but the thing is that they don't manage to make good food out of them. The vegetables we got served were overcooked, watered out, with no taste whatsoever and no processing beyond simply being boild or thrown on a plate with some dressing or into a gelatine. The beef was also badly cooked, and the wine by the glass was low quality. The bread tasted old and dry. Very sad to be giving such bad feedback, but we were really disappointed by the experiece and we felt absolutely tricked. This would have been forgivable for a 3000 yen meal but not for a 9000 yen one.

we stayed in the new wing so everything still in excellent condition! Compact room but big bed. New bathroom: shower toilet and sink area. Front staff very helpful even with language barrier. Very attentive.
No storage to put your clothes if you are staying longer than 1 night. Our room was a bit dark but we didn't spend much time in it. Other than that, no complaints really! Open air baths, not onsen . However they were private and had nice view.

Great hospitality and food.

Restaurant was excellent, staff was giving out free baked sweet potatoes and free sake upon arrival. Check in was easy and they care about your allergies if you were dining with them.
It was visibly very dusty under the sofa inside our room. The top was clean, but sometimes it is easy to overlook areas like under the couches or beds. Our bath had some moldy curtains, too.
