About this house rental
Summary:
"Bostane Cottage" ,step back in time with a few modern conviences.Built in the 1860's this heritage cottage is only a ten minute walk to the city centre. Positioned in West Hobart with a lovely view across the city to the Derwent River, which delivers magical sunrises you can see from your bedroom.
Built circa 1860, it oozes character, an eclectic mix of old and new styles blend beautifully to create a comfortable relaxing sanctuary. A wonderful place to stay while visiting Hobart.
The Space:
The character starts before you walk in the door. The “ever so English” raised footpath leads you to the original cast iron gate, up stone steps bordered by a rambling cottage garden.
Step inside to a hallway with unique walls made from hand sawn cedar. This workmanship follows through to the main bedroom with Queen bed which is a generous size and includes a quirky split-level dressing area with desk, chair, and panel heater.
The second bedroom has beautiful cedar floorboards and an open fireplace (not operational) and a panel heater.
A few steps take you up a level to the cozy living area, with reverse cycle air conditioning and very comfortable couch, and a third single bedroom with panel heater. There is a TV with DVD (plenty of great movies) and Wi Fi to keep you entertained. There a well kitted-out kitchen in which to whip up a feast with all that local Tassie produce you buy. Also off the kitchen is a laundry with washing machine, clothes dryer, iron and ironing board.
In warmer weather, there is a gorgeous little courtyard and garden to enjoy.
The cottage is unique, it’s fun, it’s cute and everything you could want for a change of scene… a little step back in time but with all of today’s comforts along for the ride.
Guest Access:
Guests have full use of the house for the duration of their stay
The Neighborhood:
The street is arguably one of Hobart’s prettiest. You can walk 2 mins to a great coffee and 10 mins to the heart of the city. The awesome local pub The New Sydney is a 10 min walk and offers live music great food and an open fire in winter.
West Hobart is architecturally stunning, every house is a winner, so just walking around the neighborhood is special.
Getting Around:
You can explore the neighbourhood on foot and it's just a short stroll in to the city centre. We suggest you have a car to explore all of Hobart, and there's generally parking available on the street out the front of the house.
