About this lodge
As you pull up to this grand cedar style home you are immediately greeted by a beautiful rainforest that feels calming and relaxing. The first room is located to the far right corner of the building. There are a few stairs leading to a small covered patio for you and your guests. This suite is off to the far corner and is very private from the other rooms.
The room is located to the left side of the building right below the stairs. As you enter you have two large windows that look out to the beautiful native rain forest. Immediately you feel like you are in a tree house or forest retreat, complete tranquility. It is an open concept room with a complete kitchen stocked with cooking essentials such as pots, pans, dishes, utensils, cooking burner, microwave, min fridge, toaster oven, and even a griddle for cooking pancakes in the morning. A dinning room table for family dinners while admiring the Hapu'u fern around you. The room has a queen bed for two, single bed and sofa couch bed for extra guests. There is a private bathroom complete with toiletries. A wall mounted TV for those that want to relax and watch a movie.
Visitors come to the Big Island to explore the volcano and beautiful black sand beaches. The Volcano National Park is located about 2 miles down the road. Take a four wheel drive up Mauna Kea and visit the second largest mountain in the world or take a drive down to Waipi'o Valley to take a refreshing dip in the ocean as you visit the Valley of the Kings. Cruise around the island in a day and see what this "Big island" has to offer.
**This property is on water catchment which is not suitable for drinking or cooking. Some bottles of drinking water are provided but additional drinking water need to be brought by guests.

Wonderful place! Clean and everything there. Quiet and beautiful surroundings!

As expected, the accommodations do not live up to the photos but that is fairly typical with any online rental. We were pretty disappointed to find the hot tub was very dirty and had frogs and frog eggs inside so we decided not to use it. The biggest plus was the view of all of the tropical trees and plants from the windows and the location was very close to the park. There are not really many dining or shopping options near by so make sure to make your stops in Hilo on your way in! We also experienced an internet outage while there so if you’re someone who relies on wi-fi that could be an issue but it wasn’t a very big deal for us. This rental is great for visiting the park but maybe not if you plan on spending much time relaxing at the actual room. The amount of space was good for our family of 3 but would be very cramped if you have more than one child. All in all it was fine but didn’t exceed our expectations, which is expected for this price on the island I’m sure.

Beautiful location near Volcanoes National Park and Volcano Village. Quiet, rain-forest grounds with fiddleheads, ferns, anthurium on walking path to hot tub. I was traveling with my hula sister and we wanted to watch the Merrie Monarch Festival on TV. The television was old with poor reception. I tried to contact the host through VRBO but couldn't get through. Called the VRBO help line and they cut me off so we watched on my computer instead. Glad I had it with me! Otherwise a pleasant stay.

We had a great stay at this rental! Only complaint was the hot tub was very hot at the start, so we did have to wait a while for it to cool down with the hose. Overall a great stay!

This place is in the middle of the beautiful Ohia and fern tree forest. There is a fireplace to keep you toasty warm but being from Seattle I didn’t need it. The hot tub wasn’t working but I would go back in either case. I loved that it is so close to Volcanoes National Park.

We had a couple of great nights at this place. The property was a beautiful little yard in the jungle with a trail to the hot tub. The place was a little worn, but just fine for us- my only wish was for a couple more pillows (4 of us there).
The location was fantastic- about 4 minutes to the park gate! This really helped us maximize our short visit to volcano, which was super awesome
