This 3 bed/2.5 bath Italianate combines vintage elegance with modern updates and is located in a diverse and historically protected city neighborhood less than 5 min from downtown St. Paul. Immerse yourself in the exquisite architecture of the past, enhanced by today's conveniences. Join us in our love for this enchanting abode & create cherished memories of your own.
Enjoy your stay in our sunny 3 bedroom hilltop home, boasting a chef-inspired kitchen with deluxe SS Viking professional series appliances. Indulge in marble baths with heated floors and savor moments of serenity in the cozy backyard garden area. The spacious main level includes two large living areas with high ceilings plus a formal dining room, kitchen & powder bath.
Step into the kitchen, and find a space that the original owners of the home could have never imagined. State-of-the-art appliances transform cooking into a dream. A large island for prep and gathering, separate cooktop w/griddle, and professional double French door oven are just a few of our favorite features. Enjoy a freshly brewed pot of coffee for the group or use the Keurig for your morning joe (or tea kettle if tea is your preference). The kitchen is stocked with a microwave, toaster & Power QuickPot and we've supplied dishes, silverware, basic utensils & cookware, including some fine china for special occasions. This level also includes a powder bath off the kitchen near the back entry.
Ascend the grand staircase upstairs, and you'll discover the master/primary bedroom suite, which features a spacious marble bathroom with a luxurious shower, skylight and separate claw-foot soaking tub. A comfy California King bed awaits you here for your slumber. A washer & dryer are conveniently located in the master bedroom hallway for any laundry needs during your stay, and we have included some travel essentials for you in the closet, such as an iron and board, a steamer, and more.
This level includes two additional bedrooms; one with a California King bed and the other equipped with a full-size vintage bed (we sleep 6 upstairs and there is a futon in one of the living rooms for a potential 7th guest if the need arises). Explore the workspace at the end of the hallway or engage in a workout on the Octane Q37x elliptical in one of the bedrooms. An additional luxury marble bathroom with heated floors completes the second floor, complemented by our hypoallergenic, cruelty-free bath products.
Despite its rich history, the home boasts all modern and convenient technology. Enjoy our fast Wi-Fi, Amazon fire TVs in the living room, kitchen, two bedrooms and master bath (including Netflix, as well as whatever streaming services you subscribe to) and we utilize self-check in through a keyless entry for a seamless experience.
There is a bar tucked away in the basement. Prior owners tell us that it was a speakeasy during the 20’s when St. Paul was home to several notorious gangsters. It is currently not accessible to guests, however we are working diligently to prepare it for your future enjoyment. Keep an eye out, as you may have the opportunity to savor a beverage down there in a few months. For now, unwind and accept our complimentary bottle of wine as a gesture of hospitality. If wine or alcohol isn't to your liking, kindly let us know when booking, and we'll ensure an alternative awaits you upon arrival.
Guest access:
Immerse yourself in the entirety of our spacious 2300+ sqft home, excluding the unfinished basement.
Please note that the garage at the back of the property and the side yard on the south side of the house are currently unavailable to guests. We kindly ask for your consideration in honoring our neighbors' privacy by confining your activities to the designated areas.
Other things to note:
Accessibility: Please note that there are stairs that will need to be navigated in both the front and back of the property in order to reach the home from the street or when taking out the garbage in back. Additionally, the 3 bedrooms in the home are located upstairs.
For families vacationing with children, we want to prioritize their safety. Our house, which is over 150 years old, sits atop a hill and features a retaining wall separating it from an adjacent property with a steep drop. The front of the house is terraced, and there is a stairway leading up to the house from the street below. We are concerned about the potential risk of children falling onto the pavement or attempting to explore the yard. Furthermore, there are water features on the property that may pose hazards for little ones. Inside the house, the railing over the grand staircase does not meet current height standards.
As a result, we do not currently supply cribs, pack n plays, toys or any other items geared toward very small children in the home, since it is a much more suitable destination for adults. If you are traveling with children, please reach out and together we can assess whether our property would be a suitable fit for your family.

My family rented Maple Place as a home base for our son's wedding in St. Paul. We could not be more pleased with our stay! The home is absolutely gorgeous and Stephanie and Jay went above and beyond to work with us on a few special requests that we had and were very timely and responsive. The home is absolutely gorgeous and we felt so pampered during our stay. The location was wonderful - near a fun grocery market and darling coffee shop as well as downtown St. Paul. We would definitely stay again and highly recommend to anyone looking for a special place to stay when visiting St. Paul!

We loved our stay at Maple Place. The home is even is more beautiful and cozy than the pictures. The kitchen and bathrooms are a dream. If we could change one thing, it would be to allow parking back by the garage, however this is not a deal breaker. Lots of stairs, but my husband is our designated “hauler.” As long as you are able bodied, it’s worth the steps!

We loved staying here. We came to St Paul for a wedding and my adult kids flew in from across the US and stayed with us. Kitchen and master bath are home runs. And the home has beautiful, modern updates and furnishings take you back in time. Owners were responsive and added numerous special touches to make our stay enjoyable. Grocery story in walking distance was very convenient.

Wonderful place to stay in St. Paul, lots of stairs outside and inside, which is not a problem and add to the aesthetic of the house.

Spent the Thanksgiving weekend at Maple Place. Central location within walking distance to restaurants, the trails at Swede Halllow, micro breweries and the European Christmas Market at Union Depot. Maple Place was spacious with plenty of room for the whole family. Decor and amenities were exactly as described. We would certainly stay at Maple Place again and would highly recommend it.
