About this house rental

Relax in this freshly remodeled cape-style 4 season cottage facing Shellcamp Lake in New Hampshire's Lakes Region. Enjoy coffee - or adult beverages - on one of two furnished decks, with family and friends while you take in all that lake living has to offer.

Make Waters Edge your home away from home, whether you are looking for a few days, a week...or longer....of tubing, swimming or dangling your feet in the water from your private dock (boats are welcome; we are quite close to the lake's public boat launch) and sitting area complete with Adirondack chairs and a stone fire pit - or perhaps you want to enjoy the Lakes Region's offerings with easy access to New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Lake Winnipesaukee, winter skiing at Gunstock Mountain or ice skating at Laconia's ice rink...there is truly something for everyone.

The Shellcamp community is a peaceful and friendly one - with a lake that welcomes boating, skiing, fishing and enjoyment across each of the 4 seasons, with easy access to NH's snowmobile trails. The 4th of July fireworks are not to be missed, fall foliage with apple picking and an afternoon at the local winery make for a perfect day; skiing at Gunstock or other area mountains, ice fishing on Shellcamp or snowmobiling will make the outdoor winter enthusiast smile.

The home:

>1700 square feet of living space, across 3 floors with 3 bedrooms (plus a flex space that can be a 4th bedroom or an extra family room), 3 full baths, 2 family rooms and a fully outfitted kitchen. You will find oak flooring on the ground and 1st levels, with carpeting on the top floor.

The 2 bedrooms on the top floor are en suite, with full bathrooms and sizeable walk-in closets. Imagine waking up in the king bedroom to views of the lake - the home is one where you can 'exhale' and rejuvenate fully.

However, if you are like us, and want to stay in touch with our teams at work, the space is amenable to working remotely (the desk in the king bedroom and/or the tables on either of the decks offer great space).

The first-floor bedroom is located across from a full bathroom, at the back of the home looking out onto the lawn - which is the perfect place for volleyball, croquet or corn hole - and has a stone sitting area with seating and another fire pit.

The main deck on the front of the home spans the width of the home and overlooks the lake. A table, multiple seating options, rugs (in the warmer months) and a gas grill expand your living and dining options.

We are ~20 minutes from Concord and 45 minutes from the Manchester airport.

- The Waters Edge property is quite unique in that the lot is split into 2 parcels.
-- The parcel that contains the home in on the corner of Penobscott Path and Lakeshore Drive (the front of the home and the front door are on Lakeshore Drive facing the water).
-- The 2nd parcel is ~100 steps diagonally across the road (marked by 2 signs 'Waters Edge'); this portion of the property has direct and private water access with ~150 ft of water frontage, a dock, space for toys, lounging and relaxing by the stone fire pit and Adirondack chairs.
-- You might find this arrangement beneficial, as it further ensures the safety of our small guests by slowing their path to the water.

Shellcamp Lake/Pond, New Hampshire

Shellcamp Lake is located in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire in the town of Gilmanton. The town was named after the Gilman family who inhabited the area in the early 18th century. It still remains a quaint and quiet town for those who seek a bit of peace and tranquility away from home.

Shellcamp Lake sits in Belknap County and is just south of two of the largest lakes in New Hampshire: Lake Winnipesaukee and Lake Winnisquam. A dam was built in 1931 on Academy Brook to create Shellcamp Pond which is controlled by New Hampshire Water Division. Shellcamp is perfect for all types of vacationers with fun-filled activities and peaceful nights.

With 145 acres of blue water, Shellcamp Pond can accommodate all types of watercrafts. There is a public boat launch on the northeastern shore for boating, kayaking, canoeing, and sailing. Take your kayak on an adventure to one of the rivers flowing in or out of the lake. Huckins Brook flows into Shellcamp Pond, and Academy Brook is the lake’s outlet. The lake has a mean depth of 7 feet and a maximum depth of 15 feet. Anglers will reel in an assortment of fish such as largemouth bass, chain pickerel, yellow perch, sunfish, brown bullhead, panfish, and lake trout. Spend a long summer day fishing by boat or on shore, and when the heat is too much, take a dive in the lake’s blue waters.

Shellcamp is in close proximity to many forests and parks. Meadow Pond State Forest and Betty Smithers Town Forest are north of Shellcamp Lake; Ella Stroud Memorial Forest and Shaker State Forest are located south of the lake. Many of the forests in the area offer groomed trails for hiking and biking. If you’re interested in a more leisurely day, pack a picnic and take in the extraordinary views of nature and wildlife. Portions of the shoreline on Shellcamp Pond are undeveloped and of great value to wildlife, water quality, and scenic beauty.

Shellcamp Pond and the surrounding area offer an abundance of year-round fun. Take a day to golf on courses with rolling hills and exceptional greens interwoven with sand bunkers and water hazards. If golfing is not your sport, head into town and spend the day shopping, wine tasting, and dining. Rest assured there is plenty to do at Shellcamp Pond.

disappointed in description and pictures of home, from pics it looks like the house is right on the water, but you have to walk across St. & to left. Lake is more like a pond and was very weedy not clear like ad stated. Water pressure very poor if anyone uses any water used while someone is in shower, no water at all comes out.

The property is beautifully redone. I had the master with my own bath, my mom had the second bedroom with bath. This was perfect! My daughter stayed in the downstairs bedroom and 13 year old loved the privacy of basement room. So much space. Everything was well stocked from bedding, pans, dishes and spices. We had visitos up one day and we all enjoyed the private dock and kayaking and the paddle boat! Beautiful gazebo on lake as well!

Property was very clean and well supplied. Many VRBO’S have worn pots and pans, the ones here were fine! The only coffee maker is a Kureig 😕… The notebook in the house for property instructions was well written and very thorough. The key code wasn’t provided until the night before arrival and not available on the VRBO web site. This was a concern as we were out of cell phone service for several days. I texted the host for this information but never had a response. But overall everything was great!
