We loved our stay in Ely. The property is new, well equipped and setup nicely to handle large groups (we were 8 adults and one infant). Marcus and Abby were very accessible and addressed the few minor requests we had proactively (with follow up to make sure we were happy with the results). If we can get the crew together again next year - we will definitely come back to the Ely Cabin.

We had a wonderful stay at this property, which provided a perfect blend of activities and relaxation. The sauna was a highlight, offering a great way to unwind. The high-end appliances, along with the grill and smoker, made cooking a pleasure. We truly enjoyed our time here and would definitely rent this property again. 5/5 Rating!

Three families headed to Ely for the Memorial Day weekend and had a wonderful time at this modern log cabin. The house was a perfect for our size of group of 12. The kitchen was large and well equipped for in-home cooking, and the adults and kids each had their own spaces to hang out. We also enjoyed the sauna and beach. The location near Ely made it easy to swing by the grocery store, visit the Wolf Center, and head into the Boundary Waters for a day. There was even a running path nearby for us runners.

Very relaxing and convenient to anywhere you needed to go. The cabin has plenty of room to accommodate a family wish we could’ve stayed longer

Marcus and Abby Andrusko's "Northern Exposure Cabin" provided the ideal destination for our reunion of longtime friends. There were so many things about the experience that stood out to my friends and me. For starters, Marcus and Abby's attention to detail is impeccable. From the airy, yet cozy, design of the cabin to the the incredibly tasteful decor, the home was fit for a magazine. While our group prepared most of our meals in advance, we were taken by Northern Exposure's kitchen offerings. The cabin had just about anything one could want to prepare any meal. What's more, the knives were numerous AND sharp! The abundance of high-quality flatware, glassware, plates and bowls are ideal for a large group. From the foosball table to the Pac-Man, from the broad movie offerings to the many puzzles and from the loft's gaming table to the inviting sauna, if bad weather finds you stuck inside for a spell, there is no shortage of fun things to keep one busy. While most of our group has spent a lot of time in Ely, Marcus and Abby's Ely information booklet was remarkably thorough and exhaustive. Book the place, and you'll see - the hosts are ALL about the details! The cabin is within walking distance to Ely, yet distant enough to make one feel like they are far removed from the cares of the world. There were a few occasions on which I needed to communicate with the hosts. I am very grateful for the swift and thoughtful responses I received. I would highly recommend Northern Exposure!

Everything about our stay was positively perfect! Very responsive to our needs if we had questions, beds were extremely comfortable. The home is absolutely gorgeous and every amenity is available you want for nothing. Would stay here again in a heartbeat, we had a fantastic time!

The house was very well equipped and has a lot of character, decorated with Ely and BWCA history and antiquities. Well thought out.

The house was absolutely beautiful as pictured. We loved everything about it - the spacious living room, sauna, and game room! We especially loved playing game after game of Pac-Man and utilizing the upstairs large table to work on a Christmas puzzle. We enjoyed the sunset views over the water while we sat around the bonfire.
The location was great for us. We enjoyed being close to town to grab coffee in the morning and to check out the shops.
We experienced some trouble with the oven the night before Thanksgiving, but Marcus was quick to respond and sent a maintenance guy over right away to help. He checked in and made sure our stay was going well. We really appreciated their care and communication.
We hope to come back to enjoy all of the wonderful amenities again. I will be recommending this place to all my friends who plan to visit the area.

We rented this home for our daughter’s wedding weekend in Ely. We have a tiny cabin and in the area and needed a larger place to accommodate our large family and this house was perfect! We had 12 people total and were a central gathering place for many out of town and local family and friends.
The house was immaculate- seriously the cleanest house any of us have rented. The kitchen was well stocked, the beds were comfortable and bedrooms were out of the way and private. There were plenty of spaces for people to get away from the group and plenty of space for us to gather with everyone.
The screen porch was perfect for morning coffee.
No mosquitos because of our late September stay!
We enjoyed the Sauna AND our swims afterwards.
Location is great and close to town; if you want to walk to breakfast the Grand Ely Lodge is 1/4 mile away on the bike trail.
Ely is a second home for us but if you are new to the area the owners have a well written book with local hot spots and trails listed, plus everything you need to know about the property.
The only downfall- which isn’t even an issue- is that the neighbors seem to be intolerant of noise- our grandchildren are 3-5 and their outside noisy play elicited a noise complaint from the neighbors, nevertheless the owners contacted us and were understanding- they just asked us to try to turn it down a notch, which we did.

We rented the cabin to celebrate my parent's 50th wedding anniversary. During our childhood my parents took us on canoe trips into the boundary waters. These hardcore trips are core memories for us. Therefore, to celebrate 50 years we wanted to recreate the memories without all of the hardship. Staying at this beautiful cabin was perfection. We got the smells, sights and feels of the boundary waters but with luxury instead of misery. It makes me wonder why my parents ever did it any other way...oh wait, I know, it built character. Thanks Ma & Pa we love you. We also love the cabin and hope to get rent it out again!

Our extended family of 16 (ages 66-1 year) just returned from a stay at this beautiful property. We had a wonderful time!
Home: the home is spacious and we never felt crowded. It was equipped with everything we needed to cook all of our meals. The pack n play and high chair were a bonus! Plenty of towels, which is always nice. We spent most of our nights in the screened in porch (darn fire ban and heat), but it was perfect. The decor in the house was so much fun, even our kids commented on it. Very well done. There is no AC, but even on the 91 degree day, the house stayed cool. It’s very shade and has a wonderful breeze off of the lake.
Outdoors: beautiful, spacious lot. Our kids spent nearly all day on the beach. The house was stocked with many outdoor toys; we especially loved the kayaks, SUP, and bags. A bonus was the many life jackets provided! We enjoyed boating on the lake and even went to nearby Burntside lake, which was beautiful as well.
Location: You can’t beat this location in the Ey area. The house is a short car ride to town or even a short 8-10 min bike ride to town. We loved having the bike trail right across the street.
Host: Marcus was more than accommodating and could not have been a better host. He responded to all inquiries in a timely manner and provided detailed information on the house that we appreciated! Check in check out was some of the easiest we’ve dealt with.

What a beautiful cabin. We couldn’t have asked for more. Hosts were helpful and welcoming. My only regret is that I didn’t get a chance to try out the sauna. Next time. Thanks so much!

Our multi-generational family of 10 (ages 16-83) spent an amazing 4 days enjoying this lovely home along the shores of Shagawa. The pictures online are gorgeous, yet nothing compares to the actual in person experience. So much detail and love went into every aspect of this home, from the layout (bedrooms on one side of the home and kitchen/entertainment on the other, with windows giving a spectacular view wherever you happened to be) to the decor which was colorful, interesting and historic! The kitchen is well appointed with everything you need to dine in and the mattresses and pillows were all quite comfortable. There were plenty of activities to keep us entertained, both indoors and out. We also enjoyed the close proximity to Ely shops and restaurants. We certainly hope to return. Communication with Marcus and Abby was seemless and they made us feel very welcomed. If we could give this property a higher rating, we would!

We had a group of three families stay at the cabin. It is safe to say that we all agreed that this was one of the best, if not the best, rental properties we’ve ever stayed in. The owners of the property clearly spent a lot of time and intention on making this cabin feel warm and comfortable for all. We loved the unique characteristics of the cabin, such as the antiques and local touches. We would love to stay here again.

This was the perfect place for our stay with 11 friends. Even though the weather was not perfect, we used all of the “toys”. A little canoeing, a little kayaking. And admittedly, only a little paddle boarding, Standing up is hard. We started up the sauna, baked for awhile and jumped in the water. And rode our bikes along the bike path into town that is just across the road. When we were done playing, we had great showers, puffy beds and shared meals.
We would return here again for certain. This beautiful house was a major part of a really fantastic gathering of friends.

We absolutely loved our stay in the cabin on Shagawa Lake. We're long time Ely campers, but this was our first time staying closer to town and in a private cabin. Everything was as advertised! Even though it is closer to town it still feels private and like you are cabin deep in the woods. The cabin is so well laid out with tons to do! Host was very responsive. We absolutely will be back!

The 10 of us had a wonderful week-long stay. The house is beautiful and was well suited for our gang (plus 2 dogs). Very clean, well maintained, spacious and comfortable inside and out! The kids loved the game room and bunk sleeping. The grown ups had private spaces, and bathrooms for all. Even a large tub for those who wanted a good soak. The ceiling fans throughout were very helpful on a few warm days. The modern kitchen with open dining and living area was perfect for our easy going group. We spent a lot of time in this part of the house where we cooked and lounged and played some of the many board games. The sleeping areas are separate from the main living space so all were happy. We also enjoyed the internet, tv and charging station. It was great to have large washer & dryer! I think we used it every day for swimming gear. The screened in porch was a perfect space for our fishing and swimming gear, and for those sandy water shoes. Some of our favorite photos are of the kids with the kayaks, paddle board and canoe. The fishing was ok and included catches of walleye, bass & northern. And the kids loved netting crawfish & minnows too!
Only a few minutes to town or the public beach, and there is a bike path right at end of the driveway.
We simply loved the house and all of the modern ammenities! Marcus and Abby have thought of everything! We can't say enough about how comfortable we were all week. I'm telling the rest of my family about this beautiful home!

Great place! Just outside of town, but very private. Great place for all ages, our group ranged in ages from 69yrs to 1yr. The kids absolutely loved the kayaks and sandy beach area. They guys used the dock to tie off the boat, it is nearly brand new and sturdy. All appliances are brand new and work very well. Beds are memory foam style and very comfortable, everyone slept well! Plenty of room for everyone to enjoy! We did not use the sauna but it is nicely maintained. We also did not use the fire pit as we were there during a burn ban due to drought, but the firepit is a nice size with plenty of wood! There are some very large spiders by the dock area, which was a shock for those of us who had never seen a boundry waters wolf spider, but the kids found them fascinating! There is so much to do in Ely or surrouning areas, and the lake is absolutely beautiful! Thanks, Marcus and Abby!

This cabin was so clean and spacious. There was so much room to cook meals, play games and spread out. The lake view is beautiful, the sauna was a treat and Ely is so close with lots to see and do. We definitely want to stay here again!

Beautiful property with a lovely little beach and fire pit. The cabin is very “open,” spacious and beautiful and the views from the bedrooms on the first floor are very nice. The kayaks and canoe are an excellent addition, they were much used by my family and I. Didn’t try the sauna but would love to come back and do so in the wintertime.

The property is absolutely wonderful, we loved the layout of the cabin, how the space was decorated, and the location. We wouldn't change a single thing. We had an absolutely wonderful stay, and the owners were great with communication and promptly answered any questions or requests we had. I can't say enough good things about our stay.

The place was beautiful and adequately equipped to host guest. Our group was originally 14 but we with 5 guys. Plenty of beds to accommodate and we even saw 3 deer in the patch of trees nearby. Host was very responsive and helpful.

This was a relaxing and easy stay. We took a hot wood fire sauna each night with steam, and there's plenty of room in the sauna for our group. We had beautiful views of the lake, went snowshoeing & cross country skiing out on the frozen lake and in nearby trails. It was easy to ski to town and back. Shopping in town was fun and many quality products. We cooked each morning and evening with ease at the cabin. Lots of food storage and supplies. We also ate out in town one night, which was easy to incorporate into weekend. We saw the annual wolftrack dog sled race while we were there. We also played evening games, poker upstairs, Catan and family games downstairs. Something for everyone in our group of 16 (with 4 teens who were all entertained and enjoyed the stay as well!) Beautiful spaces, comfortable beds, a nice gas fireplace in the living room and fans to cycle the temperature. Laundry machines and dishwasher on site were easy to use. Gas stove with 6 burners and big oven, microwave, coffee maker, we used them all with great success. The teens took the room upstairs with the 6 lofts, foozeball smart tv with games. There was also atv and library with games in living room the adults enjoyed at night and a 3rd relaxing and g game space and couches in 2nd lost over living room where we played poker one night. The dining room table was large and we had both meals and group games there as well. We're a big gaming group!
Overall this was a wonderful place to stay. Nature was all arrived and gorgeous Deer and forests and trails. We also walked out on the frozen lake each night and did start gazing.
We had a mixed group of family and friends and everyone was comfortable and had plenty of space and options to get comfy
