Very nice hotel albeit overpriced.
There were no paper towels in community bathrooms to dry your hands. We were having drinks and that became an annoyance.

Very clean and nice updated rooms. Staff is very nice. Comfortable beds and slept very well.
There was a wedding and the rooftop bar/restaurant was closed to anyone outside of wedding party. Second, we were not allowed to sit in the dining area near the lobby unless we were buying food from the counter. These were annoyances but it wouldn't stop me from staying there again.

Excellent dog friendly hotel. Great restaurant.
Not right downtown - closer to campus than the town (such as it is).

Love the location
The hours for the rooftop restaurant and bar. During the week in closes at 9:00 pm. That is very early. They also seemed under staffed at the bar. It took a very long time for us to get a drink.

Beautiful hotel and beautiful rooms. Staff put me in an adjacent room to family member, just as I asked ahead of time!
I reserved the accessible room, since I thought that my husband would join me. The room was large and the facilities would have been perfect for him. The only suggestion would be that the power strip was not accessible from the nightstand. It would have been more convenient to have the power strips above the nightstand, instead of to the sides.

The Radford Highlander is directly across the street from the Radford campus. The hotel seemed new, with artwork on the walls. The rooms were very. Our shower was amazing. The rooms had a small refrigerator in them we made use of.
Our first night the internet was out but it was working on the second night of our stay.

The location is great for people visiting Radford University. The room was spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable. It has a mini-fridge and a coffee maker. We did not have the chance to visit the breakfast cafe, but the menu looked good.
This is just a small thing. The nightlights on the bedframe that are movement activated are nice, except that they are way too bright.

Great location for Radford University, all we had to do was walk across the street and we were on campus. Beautiful hotel and clean, comfortable, modern room. Very friendly staff.
No microwave in the room (the front desk told me there was literally not a single guest-available microwave on site) - this was a huge negative, it seems ridiculous in 2023 to not have a microwave available. No breakfast included, and the cafe in the lobby had very limited options. For lunch, the cafe menu board had an error; it said I could add chicken to a salad, but the server said there was no chicken ever available. The restaurant on site was not available during our stay, it was reserved for an event. For the overall scale of the hotel and its appearance, it was surprising to have such limiting food-related issues come up, especially since there were not places in easy walking distance to make up for it.

close to the college
I didn't stay long enough to find something I didn't like.

Spacious and clean, the restaurant is convenient for breakfast
It’s overpriced for what it offers, all the hotels near the vicinity of VT are like that.

I don’t know didn’t get to see it
Contacted The Highlander the day after midnight cancellation deadline because I had an accident in the family and wouldn’t be able to stay overnight. They never responded back to Booking.com or myself.

Downstairs barista didn’t know how to make any drink.

Location great, right across from the RU campus. Very nice.
Wish the price was lower during peak times. Can't afford to stay here if there is an RU event or VA Tech football game.

Location and views from rooftop can’t be beat!
Second time staying here and drains in sinks don’t work very well. Just a minor inconvenience.

So appreciated the cleanliness. Secondly, I enjoyed not being overwhelmed by advertisements and slogans. So comfortable.
It's a bit pricey at times.

Breakfast was a bit disorganized and food and coffee were cold.

Beautiful, great amenities, super comfortable and stylish rooms. Great staff.
The shower was not completely clean and there was a fair amount of noise between rooms - more than expected.

The restaurant was excellent- beautiful views and the best macaroni cheese I’ve ever had! The gym was great and the rooms were clean and spacious.
The sliding door to the bathroom slams shut pretty quickly which I think could be a hazard for small kids. I almost smashed my fingers between the door frame and door. That’s the only thing I would change.

Location and it's a new hotel....very clean rooms/hallways and the bed sheets felt awesome. Rooms were inviting and modern.
Rooftop bar was unavailable. Only if you had a reservation and only after 400p. Hotel missed out on quite a bit of revenue because the group I was with (20+) ended up spending money at another location and purchasing alcohol at the local 7-11. The following morning, asked for some silverware.....nope. Didn't have any available. Was handed a plastic knife. Another couple that we were with tried checking in early. Was told they could pay a $50 surcharge. I believe it was 210p and check in was 300p. Really?

Everything was amazing. The manager texted me to make sure everything was fine. I loved that personal touch. That showed me they really cared about my experience.

the room was very nice. Loved the roof top restaurant and bar! we were in town for a high school graduation. Some family joined up on the roof too gathering, which was perfect!
Breakfast options. For people who like plain options (scrambled eggs, toast, bacon) those were not available. The options were prepared ahead of time. These options included sandwiches with ingredients that we would have removed, but that wasn’t an option. If you didn’t like Aioli too bad! This was my only complaint. I preferred the chain hotels who provide breakfast of pastries, scrambled eggs, toast, biscuits.

I liked that it was new and everything was clean and new. The price was also great as the other nearby hotels were outrageous. I ended up in Radford University area to pick up my kid at VT in Blacksburg. But all the hotels in Blacksburg was so expensive and not worth that price for the quality of the hotel. It was 20 min drive from Blacksburg but it was worth it to save the money. The room was super new and clean and loved the floor to ceiling window.
It did not have slippers and I don't like to walk around with my shoes so it would have been nice to have the slippers. Also the fan in the room was so loud that when I went to sleep I turned it off. There wasn't an option to have the A/C as auto and Fan Off. It may have been user error on my part but I could not get the fan to turn off because it was so loud.

Sense of security. Ample parking
The firm 3:00 check-in was most annoying. We arrived 15 minutes before the three o’clock hour. The lobby was filling up with others attempting to check-in. Finally, when they started, it took forever to get folks registered.
Finally we were able to get to our room, but the key didn’t work.
Back to the lobby to deal with a line of people still attempting to check-in. It the reception we were anticipating.
You really need to rethink the 3:00 check-in if a room is ready.
Really felt sorry for the young ladies behind the desk who were trying to make people less frustrated.
Rooms were comfortable but not worth what we paid.

We liked the location. Our son was housed in a dorm next to the Hotel.
I understand it was graduation weekend, but I have looked into booking a couple rooms at the end of September and it is the same price. I really don't understand that. I thought it would be less money.my son turns 21 and we wanted to come celebrate. May have to stay somewhere else.

Brand new hotel. Very nice, excellent location, good staff. Redford had only a few mid to low level hotels not near the campus. The Highlander is exceptionally nice. Beautiful interior art work, restaurants and great rooms. A complete upgrade for the Redford area. Staff was excellent and attentive. It looks directly onto the campus. Highly recommended, even if you’re just passing through.
