About this apartment rental

“Swanage is lovely, perfectly formed and beautifully positioned, shelter from the sun, catches the breeze, lovely veranda views and mesmerizing sound of the sea - it makes it difficult to go out sightseeing.”

Swanage is a beautifully restored traditional Barbadian Chattel house. It is an enchanting and tastefully decorated and furnished home - you can’t help but take back special memories from your stay!

It’s not possible to get any closer to gorgeous white sand beach or the ocean on the island. Relax on the patio, watch the spectacular sunsets, sip a drink and look down at the ocean literally at your feet.

There’s always the constant sound of the sea, an unforgettable view, and the gentle rustle of trade winds in the Coconut trees. You can sit on the long stretch of beach, swim and snorkel in the protected lagoon (perfect for kids) or the more adventurous can surf or snorkel the barrier reef just beyond.

Step out onto the beach. Turn left and you can walk on the boardwalk to the spectacular Rockley beach, aka Accra beach, with its famous ultra-fine white sand where locals and tourists mix. Turn right and stroll along the peaceful coast towards the famous Hilton beach. Back at Swanage, you will take with you a lasting memory of the sun sinking into the horizon, and as you sit cocktail in hand, you may even see the elusive green flash.

For foodies:
There are three great dining choices on the boardwalk, Blakey’s, Tapas, and Naru with a half dozen others within walking distance. Also be sure to catch the Saturday farmer’s market opposite Blakey’s from 9AM to 1PM for your typical local Barbadian produce and crafts.

For shoppers:
It’s a short walk to Lanterns mall, a great stop for groceries and general supplies, a pharmacy, health food store and tasty local and foreign food alternatives for those looking for a quick meal.

For duty free shoppers:
There are duty free shops in Worthing, five minutes by local bus or take a ten minute ride to Bridgetown. On Broad Street you will find fine jewelry shops, Cave Shepherd, a large department store, and other shops. For a great local shopping experience visit bustling Swan Street.

For history buffs:
There’s the Hastings Historic District and storied Garrison area of Barbados. It is the location of the Old Colonial Officers Quarters and Army Hospital. The Savannah comprises the main military guard buildings, with beautiful Victorian architecture complete with a large collection of old cannons, the Barbados Turf Club (Horse Racing), the historical museum, and a vast open sports area for rugby, soccer, cricket, all surrounded by walking and running tracks.

Shared economy & Room rate levies:
These levies were introduced by the Government of Barbados with effect from August 1st, 2018. They are 10% of the booking fee plus US$4.375 per night and is collected on arrival at the villa.
We appreciate your support at this time and look forward to seeing you in Barbados.

Just perfect. Philip and Tina are amazing hosts. Nothing is too much trouble. Lower Swanage is a little gem. Everything you need is right here with a fabulous view and access right into the beach. Having stayed at other properties around Barbados, this is definitely the best. We will definitely return.

My husband and I love Barbados and were super happy to find this place at our favorite place on the island. Phillip and Tina were very responsive to questions prior to our arrival and were very accommodating for our early morning check in. Unfortunately, we didn't meet Tina but Phillip was nice, easily accessible and accommodating. Jason, their son, acclimated us to the property and was also responsive to questions post check in. Location is awesome. Right on the beach. It was truly magnificent looking from the kitchen/ living area onto the water. My husband didnt even mind cooking,:) The apartment that we were in was very clean with beachy decor. So, if you're looking for super modern glam., this is not the place for you. If you're looking for a stunning location, with great hosts and a clean, comfortable stay, this is for you. All of the amenities of home are included. Bring the bug spray though. Windows were not screened and you'll want them open. Of course you'll need it when sitting on your porch watching and listening to the waves in the early morning and night. The unit is located near restaurants, the boardwalk and shopping. We made ourselves right at home. We were super comfortable and at peace in our happy place. We are returning again soon. Thank you Phillip, Tina and Jason.

Brilliant little gem, ideal postion with its kind of own bay. Apartment has everything you need. Philip and brennan on hand if you need anything but they weren't needed, informed us before we knew of the burst water main in the main road outside but this was fixed within 3hours (take note BWB) and on a Sunday. Will definitely be back sooner rather than later.

My wife and i spent a wonderful week in October at Lower Swanage, a perfect location if you like to just sit a watch the waves breaking on the sandy beach and sun sets, it was so relaxing. The apartment is separated into the sleeping area which is air conditioned, the kitchen and living area is what i term as tropical with only shutters replacing windows the apartment is quite spacious and nicely decorated with a tropical feel. Philip and Tina are wonderful hosts and answered many of our questions regarding places to eat and visit. October is the off season and is quiet with very few tourists around, restaurants are with in walking distance. Airport is about 20 minute drive.

This was not our first, not our last visit to Swanage. It is perfectly located on the South Coast and was just what we needed for a relaxing vacation. Being right on the beach made our stay feel so amazing. The amenities were all we needed to kick back, relax and enjoy the sea and sights. It is so central that we could get around to do whatever we wanted very easily. Tina and Philip were so helpful and welcoming and made us feel at home. Thanks for everything. Can't wait to return!

We stayed at Lower Swanage for our wedding and honeymoon vacation. It was a perfect beachfront honeymoon cottage! The view from the patio was amazing! You can't get any more beachfront! We spent a good chunk of our vacation sitting on the comfy chairs on the patio listening to the waves and the tree frogs. The beach is very nice and you can walk a long ways. It is also pretty deserted, except on the weekends when there are a few locals. The location was quite nice as well. We rented a car and were able to drive all over the island. The condo itself was very nice and extremely clean! It had everything we needed. The air conditioning in the bedroom was very nice and cooled down really fast. As well, Tina was great to deal with! Very friendly and offered many helpful tips and directions. She was also very quick to respond to any emails. Our only problem was that the neighbours we had while we were there were quite noisy and there was not much insulation, so sometimes it sounded like they were in our condo. But everything else was perfect and we would definitely stay again!

This is was our third stay at Lower Swanage and it's sure to be an "annual". Tina and Philip are excellent hosts and the property has been spuced up a bit as well. We moved next door to Upper Beachgate for our second week with two other couples and this was amazing as well. We are looking into flights already for a return trip next April with another couple in tow. You simply cannot beat the price, location, property and accomodating hosts.
