It may not have been fancy, but it was fabulous! We came on a really early boat and, because it was the off season, they kindly let us check in early - 5 hours early!! And on our checkout day they let us check out late, so that we could have one more dip in the sea and still shower after. This unexpected generosity gave us so much extra time. Also, the staff really made our stay great! They not only fetched us from the ferry and dropped us back, they also took us to the other beach and collected us when we were done and stopped at a gorgeous lookout on the way there. They even gave us extra towels for the beach. Breakfast was a delicious traditional Japanese breakfast, with natto, rice, fish, seaweed, miso and salad. Laundry was easy to do (and there is a pet pig on the top floor, plus 2 sweet little dogs who live on the first and second floors).

Our stay at the kamekamehouse exceeded our expectations in the most positive way.
The staff picked us from the port and drop us off to the port for our final destination, something we were not expecting. The breakfast and the okinawa style dinner were amazing and homemade by the owner, making the experience even more delightful and delicious.
We stayed in a japanese style room. The room was spacious, clean and provided us of all the amenities needed for our stay. The staff was amazing and was always ready to help us with whatever we needed. Furthermore, the location to the beach was so close. Also, you are greeted with Mugi, the owner's dog who is very sweet, non threatning and a really nice pig!
I really cannot emphasize how amazing our experience was in Kamekamehouse. Even though it was one night, we wish we could've stayed for more days. I would definitely recommend to everyone who wants to know Tokashiki island to spend at least a night here and feel the japanese/okinawan culture to the max!
The only "downside" we found was that most of the staff could not speak english, but they make a lot of effort to understand you!

Lovely staff who are welcoming and helpful. Great simple accommodations that are clean and have everything you need. Breakfast was a delicious combo of Japanese and Western options so there was something for everyone.

The staff is helpful. They both picked us up and dropped us off by car at the ferry on the other side of the island.
The Japanese food at the accommodation is plentiful and tasty and there are several restaurants with different specialties within a 5 minute walk in the small community at Aharen Beach.
There were often 2 cooks who usually helped prepare the good food in the kitchen, which was open to view from the guests' tables. Interesting to see Japanese cooking.
Lais Ferreira was one of the local employees who cooked, explained local traditions in English and drove us in the hotel car. Lais gave the concept of service management a face - Thank you Lais!
Winter time, when the sea water has dropped from the summer's 28 - 29 degrees sea water to "only" 23 degrees, means that the beaches are empty in winter - perfect for a Scandinavian who gets the whole Aharen Beach a Paradise Beach to himself with a clear blue sea that is warmer than the Baltic Sea in high summer.
If you are lucky, you can see Sea Turtle in the waters around Tokashiki Island.
Small rooms and even smaller bathrooms which, however, work well.

Dato disponibilità per late check out.

I arrived in Okinawa on July 28, the original booking three-night stay 7/29-8/1 , but on the 28th I wen to the ferry terminal to buy a ticket was told that the typhoon is coming, may 29 can only go to the island, the back of the ferry may be canceled until 2nd Aug.
Because our return ticket has been booked for fear of being trapped on the island can not come back so contact the hotel hope that the free cancellation, this is force majeure factors are not our intention to cancel the trip.
I immediately contacted the hotel in English, but the owner refused to communicate. I thought maybe his English is not good, let my friend in Japan and call him, but he said if you are not a guest, do not speak.
In the end, he forced me to pay for one night's stay.
I was very upset about this.

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. They came to pick me up from Tokashiki port upon my arrival, and wanted to make sure I would be okay when I wanted to hike back to the port on my own.
Both the dinner and the breakfast were delicious. The property is just a few minutes from the gorgeous Aharen beach. And the whole stay just felt magical.

The owner is very helpful and friendly (so is the whole staff). It was nice having so much privacy, yet still being noticed and cared for. We loved the breakfast - it was nutritious and we tried so many amazing foods! The hotel is close to Aharen beach, so it was perfect for us (we are not used to local climate, so it was very convenient to be able to quickly get back to the hotel and relax from the heat). Thank you Kamekamehouse for making our time in Tokashiki so comfortable ❤️

3 minute walk from beach
Staff very nice but one works very hard, and not enough staff to keep up cleaning the common bathrooms.

Great location near the beach, very friendly staff, clean room. We liked the friendly pig who lived on the roof who helped with our washing.
A little higher prices than the mainland. But that’s probably because of limited accommodation and lots of divers.
Nothing active about the property.

The location is absolutely perfect. If your goal is to spend a night or two and just relax at the beach for a few days, this is really a great stay. The room has good AC, the breakfast was spectacular, and the service was great. You even get picked up and dropped off at the port. The beach is really beautiful, with spectacular clear waters and coral reefs that you can snorkel at. Online, Aharen is typically listed as one of Okinawa's best beaches, the water is crystal clear, and there is no trash anywhere.
One note is to make sure that you have enough cash on hand before you arrive because the community is small, and on an island, there is no cashless payment accepted and only one ATM which is near the port on the other side of the island. If you want to use any of the rental services in town or eat at any of the restaurants, you need enough for your whole stay. That said, the staff was nice enough to give me a ride to the atm, which was so lovely.

the food was outstanding - i would recommend both the breakfast and dinner, so tasty. great location. staff very friendly. futon and bedding was very comfortable.
the only thing i didn't like were the axolotls in the main room, i think their aquarium was too small and there was no enrichment for them. they looked quite sad. i hope you can put them in a bigger tank and include some live plants, rocks and other things to keep them happy.

Very friendly and helpful staff, clean room, and good breakfast. The location was very central and the beach, as well as bars and restaurants were reachable by foot.
Communication was sometimes a little bit awkward as the staff did not speak English.
