Very quaint room, with ancient beams and a nice wee shower room. If you don't like noise, its not for you!

Welcomed by a member of staff and shown to the room.
Room was a good size and clean.

Very nice place to stay. Check in 2pm and the 10% off food and drink when you stay a nice touch

Lovely place to stay, right in the heart of Shrewsbury. It's a lovely old building, full of character and the staff were so friendly and helpful. We ate in the bar the first night we stayed and the food was hearty and home made. The bar was really busy and was obviously a popular venue. Despite the bustling atmosphere of the bar, once we were in our room we were not disturbed at all. Also, they give 10% off food and drinks to their residents - a highly appreciated touch.

Fabulous & all the staff were friendly. Food lovely. Can thoroughly recommend here for a nights stay. Bed was nice and comfy too.

Absolutely fantastic
4.4
Very good value and great location
Staff excellent and freindly
Only downside is that its right by the road and is quite noisy through the night...windos are also original ( listed building) and even though secondary glazing has been added it is far from sound proof

Stayed 1 night, small but practical room. Uneven floors but to be expected with how old it is. The outside sash window wouldnt close properly, so it was a good job inner windows closed. Was noisy as on the street. Thanks for the stay

Place was very sad and tatty
4.4
Easy check-in with friendly staff.
Outside the premises got a bit noisy in the morning (07:30) which would not be ideal if you were leaving a lie-in.
Room was tidy and clean but nothing special. I would stay here again.

Our stay was for Shrewsbury Folk Festival, and it was certainly closer than previous places we've stayed: a quite manageable walk to the site. None of the places where we've stayed in Shrewsbury have been anything marvellous, to be honest, so we were prepared to live with the Cromwell not doing breakfast and with it being noisy at night. It is a pub, and we were directly above the bar, so noise was to be expected. Lack of parking might also deter some, but we parked at the Festival site. The room was clean and everything worked, and the old building with its uneven floor had a certain charm. All in all, it fulfilled our specific requirements.

We stayed for 2 nights. We were attracted by the thought of staying above a pub. Coming in from an evening out and having a drink before retiring to bed was great. Great bar staff who were pleasant and welcoming. Accomadation wasexcellent and a four poster bed to boot. A great stay. Thank you all

Very central location, very clean, service was excellent, loved the outside seating

Good stay at short notice

No sleep Traffic all night No double glazing

Noisy road

Convenient in town centre but no parking on site. Nearest parking 8 mins away

Such a cosy little place, we had a great sleep here, and the location was close to all the things we wanted to see in town as well. The details of the wood beams in the building etc showed its history. Only thing that's a bit funny is there's no staff on site after 10pm... so don't get locked out!! If you're responsible and have your wits about you shouldn't be a problem, but maybe take a photo of the phone numbers that are on the back of the door before you go out just in case.
4.4
Central to the town, an old property, so a bit quirky. Great staff, good food & beer
4.4
Good location in heart of Shrewsbury and the room had lots of character. Downsides - not that much sound proofing between the rooms, the floor is on a slant (and the bed felt like it was on a slant too), mattress was too hard for my liking
4.4
Beautiful place, beautiful town! Wish we could’ve stayed longer.
4.4
We really enjoyed our stay had everything we needed and very well organised
4.4
loved the oldie worldy character rooms, The bathroom/shower was a little tired.

We’ve stayed at this place several years ago pre-Covid and been very impressed.
However , this time was a reminder that “ nothing stays the same” The legendary Breakfast at Cromwells is no longer available which is a shame.
The venue on Dogpole is a busy road inside the town centre and as such is subject to some late night revelry at weekends which is something to consider.
Our room and bathroom was very small and cramped especially in the bathroom.
Food is standard for a Pub but well presented and the service good !!
All in all we feel this is a hostelry for younger folk than ourselves , well situated near most amenities but not for a quiet weekend !!!
4.4
A good reasonable budget stay in Shrewsbury. Nice pub downstairs, staff friendly and welcoming. Facilities in the room are good the room itself it cute.
Done warned that this is on a main road, and you may need ear plugs. Recommend for a night's stay or two

Welcoming staff at check-in.
Accommodation is in a great location with a lovely outdoor seating area.
Room had everything we needed for an overnight stay, warm, comfortable and clean.
Just two things to note, the en-suite needs a blind over the window for privacy from outdoor guests using the seating area, and the shower cubicle has mildew on the grout and tiles, which is rather off putting when stepping in to use!
However, a very enjoyable stay and would use again.

Great place in a super location. Friendly staff serving wonderful beers and food. Would stay here again.

Fantastic location

Check in and out very good...room was very noisy over the bar and street traffic was loud but after midnight all quiey and a good sleep..the carpet in our room looked tired and the shower tiles also shabby. Tv was very small for the size of the room
Great discount on food and drinks and an ideal location...

Good, central location. Nice and clean. Comfortable bed. Friendly staff.

Although the room was a little bit tatty , it was very clean . The bed was super comfortable, I slept really well.
The staff were lovely.
We ate at Cromwells Tap house and the food was delicious.
I would definitely stay here again .

The area was great. Lots of things to do nearby.

Staff were helpful, however, there were several issues with the room. We expected the room to be noisy due to the location, however, do not expect to sleep unless you have ear plugs. The secondary glazing is so old and poorly sealed that there is a lot of sound bleed. One of our sash windows was also impossible to fully close.
The shower room had quite obvious mould along the inside wall, so it doesn't look like it has been fully cleaned in a while. Other than that, there were minor issues with missing tea bags, shower gel and poor wifi.
4.4
Old warm pub with good atmosphere and helpful staff.
4.4
We had a one night stay as a group of friends. Check in was smooth although a little squashed at the side of the bar. The rooms were lovely and clean in a beatiful old building. We ate there before we ventured out for the night and the food and service were great. Would definitely stay again
4.4
Great room and comfortable bed in a period property. There was no hot water for the shower which was a shame. Great to have 10% off in bar downstairs.
4.4
The Room was very well presented, central location to parking, shops and food outlets.
The only negative part of the stay was the noise!! You could hear people’s conversations from the bar down stairs in the first floor accommodation rooms
4.4
Staff were very helpful
4.4
Great base for exploring the town, staff were friendly and the room was clean and tidy with good facilities. You can hear the bar music whilst it's open, but nothing you wouldn't expect from this sort of accomodation and the street noise was much quieter than expected, being slightly off the main pub drag. Would highly recommend for staying a couple of nights. Loads of great places to eat nearby so not really an issue not having a breakfast option.
