Central to the town. Close to shops and restaurants. Room fairly spacious. Parking Arago not too expensive 10 euro for 4pm to 7am but about 5 mins walk.
A bit dingy, everything looked a bit tired, needs a major revamp.

The owner behind the reception, a great bloke always ready with advice for anything you need in the city, and you can just tell he wants all of his clients to have the best possible time while visiting! And the wife in charge of the breakfast, what a sweetheart! Even taught me how to pronounce some key words! 10/10 for the staff from me.
The facility itself is very old, and you should keep that in mind. It's even possible you might find an appliance so old here you've only seen them in movies before, especially if you're a young traveller like myself. I found all this fascinating and fun change for the usual, but I could see how someone would be turned off by this.
And then the size of the room.. the bathroom alone was about the size of the rooms you usually get, and on top of that there was of course the room for sleeping, and that too was more than big enough for my needs. So really the size of the room shouldn't be an issue for anyone staying here, that's for sure!
The building itself is very old, and the tiles and the appliances in many cases might be almost the original ones, which for me, is quite an opposite to a negative, but I could see someone not being into it, so I think it should be mentioned.
Also the reception is open during very limited hours, once you're checked in you can go in and out as you please, but if you arrive early, be prepared to kill the time until the reception opens again in the afternoon.

The bedroom had openable double glazed French windows and was tastefully decorated. The views were interesting and leafy. The area is delightful & was peppered with cafés in the morning. The Hippopotamus nearby served tasty evening fòod. There were many good restaurants nearby for lunch. The shower had a wide enough entrance for me. The ensuite was well equipped and spotless. The coffee at breakfast was very good. There was a functioning lift. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Was given extra pillows with a smile. The see through desk chair was surprisingly very comfortable. The breakfast fruit was very frresh. The whole place is very homely and friendly service was a delight. The instruction manual for TV, phone etc. is very clear and helpful.
Bed was a little too low but very comfortable. Getting out of it was a challenge for me since I am heavy with painful knees. I forgot to ask for a kettle. Continental breakfast had no cheese, butter or ham but had a fine array of jams and good croissants. I would have preferred a noon exit as I am very slow in the morning. I would like booking.com to make it clear one has not paid the bill by giving card details. It is embarrassing for the staff and the customers to have a strong misunderstanding around full payment needing to happen on departure. They are very polite about it but customer confusion is not something they should need to field.

Great location.
Staff are not available 24/7 so we could not drop our bags with reception as hotel was locked. It may have been possible with prior arrangement but you should be able to access the hotel. We booked 2 rooms, a standard and a superior. The later was tired but fine, the former had paint peeling off both the tiles and the bath making it very unappealing. the room was freezing cold and the bed uncomfortable.

Fabulous location! Comfy bed. Very friendly front desk staff. Steps away from fantastic dining and shopping in the centre-ville of lovely Perpignan! Merci, Hotel de France!

The hosts were great. They even anticipated our possible late arrival and contacted us with entry codes in advance.
We enjoyed the breakfast and chatting with the lady of the house.
