Our week in OBX really exceeded all expectations. Really great house; big and open with amazing views and beach access. Fun little adventure up the 4x4 beach. Would definitely return in the future. Thanks for the wonderful memories.

We loved the Salty Anchor! We stayed here on Spring Break. This was such a unique experience! The setting of the house with great views of the ocean, beautiful sunrises from the front porch and sunsets from the back porch! And the horses came right up to the house to graze which was so amazing !
Jo host was amazing with communication before and during our stay. The house was beautifully decorated and felt beachy and comfortable!
Can’t recommend this place enough!

My family and I loved our stay at this beautiful, well-maintained house. The host has done a beautiful job of thinking of all the little things to make it feel like home. We lacked for nothing during our stay.
The location is just gorgeous! Isolated yet not difficult to access. My son loved the beach driving!

The location of the house was amazing! The horses were the highlight of the trip! The sand was incredible. The house was spacious and very nice and tidy, clean and bright. We were unable to use the bottom floor because the air was quite musty smelling, which is a sensitivity for me personally. However I imagine the time of year is partial blame as well as a common problem with beach homes.

The property was perfect for a fantastic week of fun in the sun. Awesome location and great way to spend a week at the beach.

The ease of getting to the property and onto the beach was effortless. It’s a perfect location on Corolla. The view of the ocean from the porch was also better than many in this location. Very cute place.

We had such an amazing time! The ponies were a huge hit and being right in the beach was perfect to drive my 87 year old grandmom to her chair by the ocean so she didn’t have to walk. Even at the house we could still play in the sand and had ample room outside for games.

The best part of this house by far is it’s gorgeous views. Look out any window and you will instantly feel like you’re at the beach. The decor is very nicely done, coastal accents everywhere. My one downfall would be the cleanliness. There were crumbs on the carpets, jelly on the table. Aside from that, kitchen is nicely appointed, had everything we needed and didn’t think to bring. The “share pantry” was a nice touch, I like the concept of take something, leave something. All in all, it was a beautiful stay and we were blessed with a visit from the horses on our last day. That felt magical. Communication with the owner was always easy and she was fabulous with responding to all of my questions.

We had a great stay at this nicely kept home. We had two families in the home totaling 11 people, this house could’ve easily accommodated another family of four. Great views, 1-2 min walk to the water. Sunday-Sunday is a lifesaver on traffic. There is seating on every side of the deck and the outdoor shower is very convenient. As far as horses go we saw them 5 out of our 7 day stay, one day they even visited the house. Obviously the house is situated on 4wd beach but my wife’s Hyundai Palisade had zero issues getting to the house, just air down those tires! The only complaint our party had was the grill. It’s positioned in an area where the rear sand dune is and was nearly covered in sand when we arrived, using it and preventing sand from getting on your food is very difficult. That is literally the only complaint we had, otherwise it’s a fantastic place to stay at.

Our stay was wonderful at the Salty Anchor. Jo communicated promptly with any questions we had before and during our stay. The home was even more gorgeous and cozy than the pictures. Plenty of games, books, and videos well throughout the home. Amazing ocean views from main floor. Kids had a blast walking right out of the house and playing in the sand. The horses did come by once right next to the home. We stayed during a particularly windy week which I think may have made the dune trickier to maneuver over during exiting. Several 4x4’s missed the turn to the sand road before the house and entered over the home’s dune and got stuck. We had an Expedition and did ok, but it did take several attempts to clear. My suggestion to anyone who is unfamiliar with sand driving is definitely read up/watch some videos before going and be prepared with the necessary tools Jo mentions in the welcome packet. That being said, it was awesome to drive next to the water! Overall, an amazing home and stay. Many kind thanks to the owners for having us.

Beautiful house and location! Perfect for families especially with small children! Short walk over the dunes to the beach. You can sit on a porch at night (they are endless and on every floor) and watch the sunset as well as sunrise in an unobstructed view. Perfect house for some salt water therapy!! Hope to come back soon!
