About this house rental
This is the closest house to the HOLLYWOOD sign, adjacent to the 4000 acres of Griffith Park. Once owned by the 60's band The Association ("Cherish", "Windy", "Never My Love"), this house has a long Rock n Roll history. David Crosby was introduced to Graham Nash by Mama Cass, who lived next door, at a party in this house. If you want everything new and shiny like The Four Seasons, you should book a room at The Four Seasons. This is a fun, rustic Rock 'n Roll Landmark house built in 1963, photographed by Linda McCartney in 1967 and featured in her book, "The Sixties".
We are artist/filmmakers based in Western Mass, but we maintain a live/work studio called UndertheSign Studios in our Hollywood home and one or both of us may be working in LA during your visit. Our studio is separate from the house, so you will have total privacy there. We give you complete privacy, but welcome you to contact us anytime for anything and welcome you to visit with us as well.

For my experience, it was strange to have the host on the same property with only glass doors separating but it was fine. Our group felt that the property could use a bit of TLC. None the less, the history of the house and the Hollywood sign made the entire trip worth it and my family and I would stay there again. Views were unmatched and that sound system was incredible.

Jeff was awesome and super communicative during our stay! A beautiful home with an even better view. While the drive up to the house is very curvy, you can't beat the location. It was easy to get around! The house has a phenomenal sound system that made waking up to music very nice. While we didnt spend a whole lot of time in the house, when we did, it was cozy and had everything we needed + more. Overall we would love to stay again!

After planning a trip to Universal Studios with our friends, we decided finding a house would be better than our traditional hotel stay. Finding this house couldn’t have been better for our families.
Beachwood Canyon and this house give you a chance to experience old Hollywood while being close to everything you could possibly need. The check in process was easy and Jeff was extremely helpful getting us situated. From there on out it was smooth sailing.
Something we really enjoyed was the large patio overlooking parts of LA where we could sip our coffee while the kids entertained themselves. We also took advantage of having a head start on the hike to the Hollywood sign.
The description for this house is spot on, so need to repeat it and if it is something that speaks to you, I highly recommend staying here.

The chalet was the perfect getaway for our family vacation. Jeffrey and his pup Jack Ryan were stellar hosts who greeted us when we arrived and did a thorough job of explaining the features of the house. The stereo system is impressive and must be experienced.
Overall, the A-frame is cozy and a bit rustic, oozing with old school charm. The place is quirky, but that is part of the charm. Adding to the charm is being surrounded with Hollywood history, being just steps away from the famous sign on the hill. The location is both breathtaking and a bit of a hike to get to, consisting of many twists and turns as you wind your way up the mountain. Great experience and we would definitely stay again.

We absolutely loved the home and Jeff+Diana’s warm hospitality. This was the perfect spot with plenty of room to host our family of 4 teens and enjoy the views of the city. Everything we needed was at the home ;)

We rented the A-Frame for a mini family reunion - My daughter and her husband, my son and his girl friend and my wife and I. The views are incredible and just hanging around on the decks or patio would probably have sufficed. But there is so much to do not far away - luckily my son is from Santa Monica - so we had a built in tour guide. After a long day seeing the sites, grab a beer and sit on the deck over looking LA and listen to your favorite songs on the sound system they have here, it even has a mechanical limit on the volume knob - with good reason. The speakers are called "Voice of the Theater" and they live up to the name. Jeff was an awesome host, wished we had more time to talk with him. Recommend to all.

We had a great time at the house in Hollywood. The kids and the adults loved Jack. The family loved the eclectic vibe the house had. The area was very peaceful!

We really enjoyed our stay at the A-frame under the Hollywood sign. The historic element of the house was incredible. There are pictures by Linda McCartney of the Association posing in the loft. We can still sense the vibe of the 60's in that house and the wonderful music that must have been created there.
We were a family of ten and the hosts went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. I highly recommend this house as the perfect experience while you are in Los Angeles. The trails are incredible and they start right outside the door.

Owner was very responsive to the couple of items we had questions about. Would have liked a downstairs shower but as we were all family, it worked out. Beautiful view of town and exciting to be so close to the Hollywood sign. A little difficult to find as our GPS sent us to the wrong side of the mountain.

We were celebrating my daughter's 21st birthday. The Hollywood Sign Chalet was perfect for our group of 6 adults. The Chalet is rustic, not fancy. It gives you that hippy feel. We loved the history of the house. The views were awesome. We enjoyed listening to music, playing the piano and watching the tourists get pictures of the sign. The spa was greatly appreciated after a long day at Universal Studios.

The Chalet was a wonderful retreat and very rustic in nature. Every balcony had a different point of view, whether just enjoying the scenery or people watching those who hiked up to the sign. And of course, we all loved Jacks’ company when we were downstairs. That’s the owner’s Husky/tour guide lol! The stay was peaceful, well shaded from the morning sun and we are already planning to stay here again next year on another trip back to LA.

This home is in a great location, the views are amazing. The house is as listed rustic which isn’t the problem. The problem with this property is it’s dirty, pots and pans had rust so did the grill. The house had this nasty wet smell to it, dog hair was everywhere, the showers were dirty and we had ants everywhere, even on the beds. The furniture outside was pretty dirty as well. I’m not sure why there’s a cleaning fee because it wasn’t cleaned when I checked in. I actually had to purchase cleaning products and clean the area before using anything.

These location was GORGEOUS. Worth every penny! Jeff, our host, was great. Easy to talk to. Friendly and caring about our trip and any questions we might have. Jack, doggie host, was the cherry on top of a great week for us. Definitely recommend this location.

This A-Frame Chalet, clinging to the side of the Hollywood sign’s mountain looks like California, tastes like the sixties. The color, the architecture, the views in the morning at sunrise or in the evening overlooking Los Angeles was an adventure unto itself. We could have not chosen a more personable place to stay for our 50th wedding anniversary with our family. Many thanks to Jeff, our host, and Jack, his magnificent canine.

Had an amazing time and this is honest such an iconic house. Feeling breezes through the windows and doors and then climb up to the Holly Wood sign. We had an amazing time. Thank you Jack and Mr. Jeff for sharing your beautiful home!

We were so glad to have a family gathering in LA at Jeff’s place. He was a great host. The house is beautiful with so many tranquil spaces. The location was amazing. Thank you!

Overall good stay. The owner was very nice and was receptive to our needs. The place does need some TLC; a lot of things are neglected, like the grill, hot tub, outdoor furniture, and kitchenware. Our biggest issue, however, was the cleanliness of the place. It really needs a deep, deep cleaning.

We had a great stay relaxing in Jeff’s historical and quirky house. It’s the perfect place to unwind after a day of sight seeing…it doesn’t get more iconic than drinks under the Hollywood sign! Jeff was a great host and the kids loved hanging out with beautiful Jack the dog.

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience here. Jeff is so gracious and welcoming, and the dog, Jack, was well behaved and friendly. Whether we were taking in the gorgeous skyline view, the upclose-and-personal Hollywood Sign view (100% insta-worthy) or relaxing in the hot tub, I had to pinch myself to prove we were really here. It's a historic, quirky, funky slice of the 60s with all the comforts of the 21st Century, and I'd return at my earliest convenience.

This truly is a bucket list property, and I feel so lucky that we got to experience it. The Hollywood sign sits right above the home so we couldn't stop taking pictures. I loved the art throughout the home, and we enjoyed all 3 patios. Kitchen was well stocked, and Jeff, the owner, was helpful and gave a great tour. We also loved Jack the dog. Thanks for sharing your unforgettable property!

Jeff was super friendly and helpful. The place was amazing and the pictures don’t do it justice.
I want to come back one day and record an album in this house.
We will be back one day. That’s how amazing of an experience it was.

There were 7 of us aged 11- 50 and each one of us absolutely LOVED our stay. Idk how much time you spend with a blended family ruled by teenagers but this is quite an accomplishment! The space is so incredibly badass! From the drive up to the chalet, to the ladder on the hill everything was magical. Birds lulled us to sleep and woke us each morning. We had the pleasure of catching some interesting facts shared from the tour guides walking past. Cozy spot for a soak in the hot tub after a long day of hiking. Plenty of room for us all to spread out. Our hosts Jeff & the gorgeous Jack the dog were friendly, chill, and accomodating. I really can't say enough great things about the property, the process or our hosts. We will be back without a doubt!

What a wonderful stay in this boho chic 60s A-frame! The views of the Hollywood hills (and all of Los Angeles, really) were amazing, the beds were comfy and the hot tub was completely relaxing. The standouts, though, were the back deck overlooking the city (perfect for outdoor meals) and the vintage stereo system that made listening to music an absolute *dream.* Oh, and the hosts Jeff & Diana were SO friendly and accommodating and just COOL. A+ for everything. Truly a one-of-a-kind experience that you'll treasure for years.

Family of 8 stayed. Stereo system was awesome. Rustic atmosphere that goes with the rich history. We loved it and made great memories. That being said…. For a rental it could have been cleaner.

The Hollywood Sign Chalet was the most amazing vacation rental I have ever had. The view is beyond incredible and so was the hospitality! If you’re going to LA with a group there’s nowhere else to stay, trust me! Every inch of this space is unique and perfect in its own way. I will recommend this place to anyone who will listen. Brownie points for the cute dog!! Seriously don’t waste another minute, book this house!

My family recently stayed under the sign. The property was super unique and had great, relaxing vibes with amazing views. It rained for much of our trip, and it was so nice to have such a pleasant home base to escape the rain.

Had a great stay in this iconic place. Never imagined being there but it was wonderful. Everything worked out great and the goal was achieved in seeing our friend get married. Jeff was a gracious, friendly host and provided all we needed. Thanks again for this bucket list experience!!!

Perfect space for a music loving family to hang out and catch up! We enjoyed the view, the hiking, the hot tub and visits from Jack the dog. Staying at the Chalet Under the Sign was an amazing experience that we will all remember. The owner, Jeff, was super friendly and helpful.

What a special house! This is definitely a once in a lifetime experience to be in this historic and iconic A Frame with so much history, character and beautiful art, by the owner. There was plenty of space for a group of 6 women, including plenty of bathrooms and beds, we loved the outdoor spaces and the jacuzzi! It was a wonderful time hosted by Diana and her beautiful dog Jack! They were all so responsive to our needs.

The location and house was unique for LA. Drive up is winding but short and close to freeway. House has a lot of character. Views are gorgeous and can watch hikers on their way up to behind the Hollywood sign.

Wonderful location, so peaceful, beautiful and zen. Jeff and Jack were incredible hosts, we won’t ever forgot our weekend under the Hollywood sign ❤️

Our family of 5 stayed 4 nights at the home Under The Sign and it was great. Location is so unique and close to everything. The views are amazing and description and pictures on vrbo are just as house is. A little rustic, a LOT of character, gorgeous views, unique place to stay for sure. But totally worth it. Thanks for a great vacation!
