If there was a way to put eleven stars I would do it.
This guest house is more than a guest house, ideally located in the island, near all the good places to see.
The hosts are so kind, so welcoming and give you enough freedom so you feel very comfortable at all time. They know the place well and can give you tips on where to go, what to see.
Dormitory beds are very comfortable and bigger than most places. Everything is new, clean and very well maintained.
There is a small kitchen with everything you need to prepare your food if you need it.

We loved everything about the place, especially the warm hospitality of the owner - Taka and Kana. They are so helpful, kind and have attention to details. Place is super clean, and bed was comfortable.

Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. The hostel set up is great. A chance to meet interesting people, but can be left alone if that is what you wish. Very clean. They did laundry for us, which was a big help; we arrived soaking wet because of the rainy day.
The stairs from the kitchen to the common area are steep. Make sure you are able to manage steep stairs if staying here.

Beautiful hostel with very friendly and helpful hosts! We were tired from our bike trip and they gave us restaurant recommendations and directions to the local onsen. Extremely clean and new amenities, and they even let us borrow some "spa kits" free of charge to take to the onsen! They also have a cafe attached but I don't think it's open all the time — they were doing some construction to prepare for Golden Week. Easily one of the best hostels I've stayed at.

The place is quite new and very comfy. It has all the necessary equipments. The hosts were very lovely, friendly and helpful. I had a great stay. The bed was very nice (especially the pillow). It was conveniently close to the road, a supermarket and some restaurants.

Taka and Kana were great hosts! They both received me with kindness and showed me everything there was to know about the hostel.
They even asked where I was going in the morning and gave me a ride to the port to take the Sakari ferry.

Really a nice place to stay ! Great place, great hosts, great location ! Everything is made to allow you to enjoy your trip in there, so you can go without any hesitation ! And on the top of that beds are big and comfortable, really a must after a day of bicycle !

Good location, new place and lovely owners. The owners kindly helped us with bus and ferry schedules. There is a working space and Netflix and other streaming services are available on the shared space TV. Whenever I'm back to the region I'm definitely staying there again.

Run by a really lovely couple. No problem in communications in English. They gave us very useful advice on transportation and helped us to reserve table for dinner. Facilities are new, cozy and comfortable. Have laundry service as well. Though need a 10-min bike from the bridge, it's definitely worth it!

Very nice and friendly welcome by Taka and Kana in Tonari. I had booked an entire room for 6 people. Convenient location. Taka was very helpful for organizing things (luggage transfer) and gave me very good advice for diner / sunset / breakfast. bathsuits washed for free :) It is possible to park bikes inside, even if it’s not really needed. I have also appreciated the way and style this place has been recently refurbished. Our room was close to the road but there are just a few cars at night and we slept well.

The place is great situated in between Onimichi and Imabari, exactly in the middle of Shimanami Kaido cycling route. Good place to stay if you take 2 days instead of 1 say for the Shimanami Kaido. The neighborhood is also nice and close to the shore.
The owner, Taka, and his wife both are very welcoming and friendly. He even went above and beyond to assist and help me. It definitely exceeded my expectations. He also recommended a place to eat, places around Japan to visit, etc.
If I ever visit this area again, I would definitely stay there again. Thank you so much for all your help.
Nothing... Exactly nothing!

The couple running the guesthouse were very welcoming and helpful! I was cycling from Onomichi to Imabari and they gave recommendations of alternative cycling routes with better scenery, and also helped me figure out the return bus to take back to Onomichi.
The place is a 2min bike ride away from the supermarket and there is a well equipped kitchen to cook. The TV in the common area also has Netflix, YouTube etc.
Location is a bit of a detour off the main cycling route to Imabari, but its right next to the main road and easy to identify. Somehow the wifi wasnt working for me, but it's a newly set up guest house so its understandable that there may still be some minor issues to sort out.

Location is nice, not far from the ocean. The owners have the bicycles and let us use it. We’ve got to go the ocean by bike and do some shopping at convenience store.
They have 2 stories and the stairs is little bit steep. The oner already mentioned to me when I made a book, so it was fine overall.

I love where the location is. The host is super nice and the fact that they can speak english, he also gives you a heads up what's around the area before you get there.
Highly recommended for cyclists or if you just want tour around the area.

Everything new we had the hostel for ourselves.
Could have booked 2 dorm beds instead of the family room because we were the only ones in the hostel

The hosts were incredibly nice. This was the most personable experience I've had in a guest house while travelling in Japan.
They joined me for dinner and lunch, offered to drive me to the spa and the bus stop because it was raining, told me about many places I could visit in the region. (this was obviously possible because the hosts had a bit more time, during busier times they might not be able to drive all guests around, but they would always try to make the time to chat to you)
The hosts speak English.
This is a new guest house. It looks newly renovated and clean. The kitchen is a good size and is well equipped.
The views from the guest house are also incredible. It is close to an onsen and, of course, the sea.
I was lucky enough to try one of the dishes they'll be offering at the cafe that they'll open soon upstairs, and it was incredible! So I definitely recommend having a meal at their cafe (it should open in July, I think).
All said, it is a new guest house, only opened at the beginning of May, so the hosts are still learning the business, but they're doing their best!

The place is absolutely new, everything is very clean and taken care of. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The best was the staff: Taka and Kana run the business, and they are a super kind and generous couple, offering their guests all their best, including some free pick up/drop off.
The place is very well located for the Shimanami Kaido Rd, or in general for island hopping. Also, it is right next to the ferry that goes to Okunoshima (Bunny Island), wonderful for a few hours of trip. There are some services (restaurant, convenience store, supermarket) around the area and in the hostel they also offer bikes to rent, cheaper than in other places.
Wonderful experience to me!
Maybe I missed having a privacy curtain covering my bed, like in the capsule hostel style.

Tonari guesthouse was excellent! It was very clean and all the communal areas were very cozy. The owners were also extremely kind and hospitable, and you can obviously tell that they are passionate about meeting people and ensuring that their guests have an excellent stay. I would definitely recommend staying here!

Great and very hospitable hosts.

If you are cycling the Shimanami (or just exploring the islands in general), I highly recommend you stay here! The guesthouse Tonari has everything you could want in a guesthouse: wonderful hosts, comfortable beds, a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and clean, beautiful facilities.

The staff was incredibly hospitable. They just started their business, and they were very friendly and passionate. The accommodation is clean and the common area was nice to hang out in. The owners will recommend you nice places to go to in the vicinity, and will even offer to take you there!
It was a great experience, I hope to visit again when their cafe opens!
4.8
Wonderful hosts, free tea, and a well-equipped kitchen :) The location was also really good, close to a supermarket and a public bath, which was great after a day of cycling. It's a good place to meet other travelers :)

Taka and Kana were perfect hosts.
Hostel is modern with good beds and also nice co working area.
Soon they will open the Café. That will make it even better.
Big towel to rent would be nice. But they provided us with small ones for free.
4.8
it was very clean, new and we had the place for ourselves. but what we liked the most were the owners! they gave us loads of advice and information to use for our trip which proved to be great advice and spot on!
We wish we will meet Taka and Kana (sorry if mispelled) in the future.

Great stay! perfectly clean. Extremely kind and helpful owners. would recommend without hesitation.

I stayed here for two nights, and was very happy with the service.
It is a freshly open and renovated guest house. The atmosphere is very cosy and friendly. Everything was pretty and clean. The owners were extremely kind and welcoming, offering lots of help and advice. And the place is very budget friendly. As in any hostel, just remember to pack some earplugs if staying in the dorm room in case there are any snorers with you.
I highly recommend the place to anyone looking for a place to sleep along the shimanami kaido. I hope to stay here again next time I cycle the shimanami kaido!
4.8
Taka and Kana are joyful owners. They are really involved in getting you comfortable at the ghesthouse, providing everything you would need, and giving good tips for the rest of your journey.
The location is perfect to do the Shimanima Kaido in 2 days (one way) or 3 days (go and back).
There is nothing I didn't like, but Taka and Kana just opened the guesthouse very recently, and they are still doing improvements everyday, so don't expect to be everything full available. Said that, it has already everything you need, and brandly new, so no complains at all.
