Reviewer Comments:
This was our third visit to Carolina Hideaway, and we had another wonderful experience of living up high in the trees and spending time on the wonderful covered porch eating meals, playing games, and reading multiple books. We are so glad we discovered this place several years ago and look forward to future vacations there! We did notice that some of the tree branches nearest to the porch are starting to limit the mountain views and hope those can be trimmed to maintain the gorgeous vistas. We are so glad we discovered this place several years ago and look forward to many future vacations there!

Reviewer Comments:
This was our second stay at Carolina Hideaway, and we thoroughly enjoyed it! The covered porch is amazing with its beautiful views and cool summer breezes, and we ate meals, played games, read, and spent a lot of time together out there. Waynesville is close enough to access easily, but when you're at the house you feel away from everything. Some of our favorite spots to eat in the area include Joey's Pancakes in Maggie Valley and the Haywood Smokehouse and Jack the Dipper in Waynesville. We love coming to Carolina Hideaway and can't wait to return next year.

Reviewer Comments:
In summary, we feel our vacation at Smoky Mountain Retreat was less then desirable. The general area was great, the location outstanding, the overall home great layout and warmly decorated. The problem was/is centered around the home's cleanliness. The room carpets were visibly stained, most likely by a pet, much dust and debris especially under the furniture was a problem and and various pieces of furniture smelled of pet urine. The SMR staff was outstanding as well as extremely helpful. We did get some time to review the SMR facility and we were very satisfied with the complex. So much so we expect to make future arrangements for another stay but next time we will stay at Eagles Nest.

Reviewer Comments:
We have stayed in Waynesville/Maggie Valley for many years. This is by far the most stocked home we have stayed in. With a family of 6 there were plenty of kitchen supplies so we did not have to wash dishes twice a day. There was plenty of room for us to have privacy and the deck was awesome. Perfect for morning coffee or a rainy afternoon.

We had a fantastic time staying at Carolina Hideaway. The views were beautiful, the house was fully stocked and the process was painless. It was a convenient spot, Walmart was down the road and we were a short drive to Cataloochee(where our group went snowboarding).I would highly recommend staying here... I know we will be going back next year!

Reviewer Comments:
We stayed in this house for a 2nd year in a row for our daughter’s wedding. This was NOT a good experience. There were mice running all over the house with droppings everywhere. The day of the wedding we had to run to the store to buy traps. We did not want to call and have exterminators the day of the wedding. Nearly all of the light fixtures were not working. We changed bulbs, but cords were literally cut in half and lights would not work. We had to use our phones at night to move around downstairs. Large carpenter ants were everywhere. You could not sit on the deck without them crawling on you. I did notify the company after the weekend wedding and they sent someone out with sticky traps. Well the mice got caught on the traps and we had to listen and watch them for two days try to escape the traps. Which they did, and began running around the house again. We love the location, the home and outside seating. But this situation made it a pretty uncomfortable trip. We were reimbursed one night for our trouble, which really was not enough. This all needs to be taken care of.
