Place was very nice and well kept. It felt quite private and was much quieter than downtown (except for the night critters and roosters). The biggest bummer was that amenities listed a portable grill and coleman stove for use, but when we requested them they said they were no longer going to be offering them. Not a big deal to most, but did put a damper on some of my plans.

Location was a great stepping off for sites on this side of the island and was close to groceries. Quiet, peaceful & the view was great, particularly at sunset with a tropical drink in hand. There was some machinery that seemed to be preparing the ground for a new home which might (?) block some of the view (TBD). Amenities in the house (beach chairs, umbrella, towels, snorkel equipment, noodles, flashlight, umbrella, left-over sunscreen & sunburn lotions, a partial bag of coffee) were well-thought out & very much appreciated. Very clean; made us feel quite comfortable. We determined that the oven was broken (reported to owner), but, no worries, the available gas grill worked great instead. We felt comfortable and enjoyed out stay. Mahalo.

The property is perfect for those looking to be just outside of downtown, but a 5 min drive to Ali’i Drive. The unit has everything you need to enjoy your time on the Big Island! The yard is quiet and listening the rain forest like noises at night and the birds in the morning is very relaxing. New construction is happening just in front of the unit which will likely impact the view in the near future.

This 1 bedroom apartment is easily accessible to everything going on in Kona. It’s a quiet neighborhood and the apartment is equipped with all the essentials. I would recommend it highly.

We loved our entire stay here. Clean and quiet with all the amenities we needed. The grounds were gorgeous and so peaceful. The location was ideal. Close to downtown, costco and the highway for easy travel. Beautiful sunsets from the house. Has a grill and ample supply of beach gear including chairs, umbrella and ice chest. Cant wait to return.

Perfect central location to explore entire island, beautiful sunrise/ sunset ocean view, lush botanical garden yard, so close to everything yet felt so quiet and hidden away..CLEAN and fresh feeling rental- everything you need for beach fun right there for your use- snorkeling gear , boogie boards, chairs, umbrella, coolers - details that made all the difference in quality of our time on the Big Island.
Only negative would be- I am a light sleeper and unit is is a downstairs apt, so did hear some footsteps upstairs at night .. but they do have a white noise fan on nightstand, and the AC ran nice and cool all night. Would def stay here again !

Imagine a place of peace, property that feels like a garden paradise, every detail thought of, everything you need and more. Imagine meandering through garden paths with incredible fruit and flowering trees individually labeled, snails in the morning and little lizards in the afternoon. Sunsets on your private patio. A bbq overlooking the ocean in the distance.
The walkout apartment is perfect. A true relaxed island vibe. The patio is perfect. A table for two and rocking chairs to relax and listen to the frogs at night and birds in the morning. So much peace.
A personal welcome sign outside your unit. A welcome basket of treats and a large variety of island cold drinks, like you have never seen before. Even butter and yogurt!
A shelf of snorkel gear of various sizes to choose from, better quality than any snorkel shop! Beach gear, beach bags, coolers. Even a closet with sunscreen, bug spray, after sun cream!
Lisa and Martha are so wonderful and think of everything! It is very clear they care about each guest! And truly make you feel like you are friends!
They even set up a clean station for my son to clean the fresh catch after a fishing trip with his dad!
We have stayed at many beautiful places over many years, but this place stands out as one they is definitely a piece of paradise.

We stayed in the south unit for 11 nights and felt the place was awesome in every way. It was super clean, organized, and exceeded our expectations in every way. There were numerous unexpected little things that made our stay more convenient and saved us time.

Our stay at Lisa and Martha’s was outstanding! The pictures do not do justice to the beauty and attention given to their gardens, we had never seen anything like it. Inside the suite was immaculate, everything was so clean. We stayed for 8 days and had everything we would need, they have thought of everything. The starfruit and papaya grown on the property were incredible. The location was also perfect as it is close to town, but also far enough away to feel peaceful and quiet. Martha and Lisa are so friendly and quick to help. We hope to be back again soon.

An amazing place with equally amazing hosts. The unit was impeccably clean, stocked with snacks and lots of other extras. The garden is fantastic. The note book was filled with great information on where to go and what to do. Lisa and Martha have created a wonderful atmosphere with attention to every small detail. We will most definitely be back !

Such a nice experience. Best value on the island. The only downside was the free snacks... I ate almost all of them. :D

Great location. Close to grocery stores, Old Kona Town, restaurants but this property is in a quiet residential neighborhood. The owners have done everything possible to make your stay a comfortable one.

Lisa and Martha were amazing hosts. Simply the best! We enjoyed having morning chats with them before we went on our Big Island adventures. They also had great suggestions on things to do and eat on the island. We were there when Mauna Loa erupted and they were so kind to stop by and let us know that we were going to be ok! Their place was immaculate, comfy, and well stocked with food, drinks, and amenities (snorkeling gear, boogie board, towels, umbrellas, etc.) You seriously only need to bring your clothes! We absolutely loved walking through their garden every morning. Lisa and Martha also shared their garden fruits and banana bread which was amazing! Could rave about Lisa and Martha forever. :) Totally recommend and will definitely stay with them again next time!

I really enjoyed staying here. The property is a great location. Peaceful and secluded yet a short drive from everything. Lisa and Martha put a lot of work into this place and it shows. Hope to visit again in the future!

This stay exceeded all of our expectations! Lisa and Martha are the consummate hosts, anticipating their guests’ every need. The accommodations are lovely, and the garden and sunset views are stunning! We are already planning our next visit back to this amazing slice of paradise.

Stayed here for a week as a couples get away and our first time in Hawaii. The property is well within driving distance of major attractions and downtown Kona, but definitely a fairly private oasis. The hosts, Lisa and Martha live on property, but this space is separated - felt like our own little apartment. When we wanted to chat, they provided good conversation. The apartment has everything you could need and probably more. The property itself has beautiful plants and fruit trees and is an adventure in itself. Would definitely stay here again, hopefully soon

Immaculate property inside and out! Every amenity you could ever imagine. Great central location, away from noise and bustle of the tourist zone but very easy to get there when you want to go. Amazing, knowledgeable hosts, eager to offer suggestions when asked. A great find!

Lisa and Martha have created a wonderful oasis, just uphill from the action of Kona proper.
Convenient comfortable, clean and very well appointed.
We enjoyed sunsets over cocktails, both from our lanai, and a couple secluded nooks they've designed into their magnificent gardens.
The unit had everything we could possibly need and more, including a huge basket of snacks, and a full assortment of beach & snorkel gear, including chairs and umbrellas.
As hosts, Lisa and Martha made us feel welcome, giving us just the right amount of guidance and space to enjoy our stay. We highly recommend their unique spot in Kona.

This is the best vacation rental I have ever stayed in - immaculate, comfortable, generously supplied, great communication, central location, gorgeous setting . Bed is comfortable, choice of pillows, great water pressure, everything you could possibly need for a Hawaiian vacation. All set in a gorgeous garden with labeled plants for the curious and a host of birds. Sit and watch the sun set over the ocean or enjoy morning coffee while the sun rises and birds chatter.
Snorkel gear, beach chairs, umbrella, boogie boards all available for you to use. Even gear bags to carry your snorkel stuff if you venture down to the Captain Cook Monument (which you should!) or other hike-in snorkel spots.
No noise from upstairs or unit next door. Noise machine and earplugs for those who don't want to hear the rooster next door or the frogs at night (we found them delightful). Tons of privacy. Truly awesome hosts who respond immediately and communicate clearly and readily. Simple access when you check in. I could not recommend this place more highly!

As first time visitors to Hawai’i, we sought to learn about the Hawaiian culture, history, and geography. Living away from the “touristy scene of hotels and shops, we were able to appreciate the peace within Kalaoa. First of all, the unit was impeccable! Attention to detail for making our stay easy…from the snacks to the refreshments and the beach gear including umbrellas, chairs, boogie boards, masks, fins, and snorkels…was unsurpassed! And finally , location ! Ten minutes from the beach of the IRONMAN swim start was just so cool! While we swam part of the course, we could only imagine the efforts of the IRONMAN participants! Having the beach in ten minutes and volcanoes on the backside, I’d say this location can’t be beat. We hope to return for a much longer stay.

My partner and I loved our stay with Martha and Lisa! The unit is extremely clean and well stocked, and the hosts are incredibly gracious, welcoming, and friendly. They had everything you could need to enjoy time on the Big Island including a cooler, snorkeling gear, beach chairs and umbrellas, boogie boards, guide books, flashlights and lamps, and even reusable bags for the grocery store. The lanai was nice to have morning coffee and breakfast and listen to the birds. The grounds and garden are beautiful! The location is fantastic - high enough elevation to be more temperate than costal areas and only 5-10 min away from the conveniences of town. When we come to the Big Island again we will definitely stay here again!
