Apartment Description: This spacious, well appointed apartment, with newly remodeled kitchen and bathroom, is located in Kailua-Kona, Big Island, on one acre of land, on a private road, and overlooks 15 acres of grassland and jungle, with background ocean views. At 938 feet above sea level, the property enjoys morning and evening breezes, cooler temperatures, and spectacular sunsets.
This one is one of two ground level guest unit in a two story private home. The manager resides at a separate unit, but uses a private entrance, guaranteeing you full privacy during your stay. Your home would be the right unit in the photos taken facing the sliding glass entrance doors. The apartment has one large bedroom, with a high quality queen sized mattress, one bathroom, and a dining/living area/kitchenette. The apartment sleeps a maximum of 2 people. If this unit (the South Unit) is booked during the dates you wish to stay, please review the VRBO listing for the adjacent unit, 3505948 (the North Unit). The home is conveniently located just off of Palani Road and it is only a 13 minute drive from the Kona Airport (KOA), a 7 minute drive to the Kailua-Kona pier and the Ali’i Drive “old-town” tourist and restaurant district, a 5 minute drive to Walmart, and a 10 minute drive to Costco. Additional attractions include multiple nearby world-class snorkeling, swimming, sunbathing, surfing, and turtle/whale watching beaches, multiple golf courses, and numerous coffee plantations, farmers markets, restaurants, historic sites and other tourist attractions. As an added bonus, the property is a great spot for bird watching, including wild parrots, kalij pheasants, francolins, wild turkeys, cardinals, saffron finches, various song-birds, pueo (Hawaiian owl), and 'io (Hawaiian hawk). Additional amenities include air conditioning, highspeed internet, barbeque grill, outdoor dining area, shared laundry access, use of snorkeling gear, beach towels and beach chairs, and off-street parking for one car per apartment. The kitchen and bathroom were remodeled in October of 2020 and the unit has newer furnishings, is very clean, and has everything you will need, including stove/oven, microwave, toaster, coffee maker (combined K-cup & large large drip-pot). Out of respect for the health of owners and other guests, smoking is prohibited anywhere on the property (prohibited areas include all indoor and outdoor areas) - closest area where smoking is not prohibited is the street adjacent to the property. Glasses, dishes, cooking utensils, pots & pans, and silverware will be clean. This property has outdoor, street facing and property perimeter security cameras. All cameras point outwards from the perimeter of the building structure. There are no hidden cameras or indoor cameras anywhere on the property, and there are no outdoor cameras that show any indoor areas or any guest lanai/outdoor dining areas.

The apartment is perfect for a couple looking to have some privacy with a beautiful view. Well appointed kitchen, comfortable bed, great grill, with a lovely outside table to eat meals while listening to the sounds of the island. The adjoining gardens are wonderful to stroll through and watch the sun set. The provided beach equipment and snorkel gear were so useful. We used the fan for white noise at night to drown out the "BoPeep Frogs" as we lovingly named them. I have a video recording so I can remember the nightly serenade. The previous owners have sold the property to new owners around August 2023. As a result, the upstairs unit is also a rental, along with both downstairs units. Bulldozer work has begun on the property directly in front of the house, but noise wasn't an issue as we were touring the island all day. Hoping the amazing view will not be obstructed in the near future. Would definitely book again, as this was our most favorite spot of all the places we had the pleasure of staying during our visit around the island. Location is perfect, kitchen is perfect, bedroom and shower are perfect. Lovely stay.

We have been doing VRBO a for many years and this one was without a doubt the best one we have ever stayed at. They have everything… boogie boards, snorkeling equipment, chairs, umbrellas, they give you a fridge full of drinks and coffee for your entire stay. This is to say nothing of the cleanliness of the place. It was immaculate. Inside and out, beautiful grounds, well maintained everything…. The sad news is, it is up for sale and the new owners may not be as attentive as Lisa was. Outstanding to say the least!

Beautiful relaxing home base for our big island adventures. The unit was spotless and very well-equipped with lots of extras provided by the hosts. The grounds are full of beautiful tropical plants and the sounds of birds and tree frogs serenaded us each evening. We didn’t want to leave!

The property was a perfect location, beautiful view, quiet, lovely landscaping. Everything we could want was provided, including beach things. Apt. was spotless and comfortable. Great little table and chairs, and rockers on the lanai, also chaise lounges on the lawn to enjoy sunsets over the sea. Best place we have stayed and wonderful hosts.

Couldn't say enough good things about our stay. The location may not be right on the beach but it is a very short drive 5-10 mins to the beach. Very quiet location, makes for a good night sleep. Lisa and Martha thought of everything.....they have beach towels, beach, chairs and umbrellas, snorkeling gear, boogie boards, and coolers available for their guests to use. And, the snacks and drinks on arrival were amazing. This may be the first place we stayed at where you could see that the owners really take pride in their property.....the grounds are like a little oasis to get away to. We will be recommending this place to friends and family who may be coming to the big island. And, if we ever come back, we know where we are staying.

Our experience at this VRBO was wonderful. From the start, the owners were easy to communicate with and very dedicated to following COVID guidelines to ensure a safe stay. The home itself was clean, comfortable and worth every penny. The owners provided some nice snacks, coffee and tea. They have a lot of water gear Available for guests (snorkels, body boards, flippers, chairs, umbrellas etc) and a parking spot. They also have a beautiful tropical garden and nice backyard which was great for enjoying in the morning with coffee and breakfast. Everything was perfect- don’t miss this place on your visit!

Our stay at Pamahoa Place was beyond our expectations. Everything we needed was supplied for us from kitchen supplies and snacks to snorkel gear and beach towels. The apartment was the perfect size and was exceptionally clean. Lisa and Martha were always happy to help us with activity and sight seeing ideas. This was the perfect location for us as it was just a 5 minute drive to downtown Kona, but far enough away from the strip that it was peaceful and quiet at any time of day. That being said, a rental car is a must here because there is not much to walk to from the apartment. We would definitely stay here again.

This rental has it all inside and out. Everything is brand new and the house is VERY, VERY CLEAN. Easy access to everything that Kona has to offer.
We have stayed in Kona and this location is far better. Being up on the hillside offers cooler temperatures, better views and trade wind breeze.
The pictures don't do it justice (no offense). Yes, the parrots really do fly by daily. What a tropical paradise and that's coming from someone that lives a few islands over on Oahu. See you again next year.

OWNERS are well researched on local places to eat, snorkel and experience Big Island that added more depth than the crowded tourist agendas. I have stayed several times at Marriott north of Kona and this location was better. It is just a few miles above the airport with made coming and going so EASY. Furthermore it is close to local markets and to Costco so filling the fridge with coconut water, fruits and Kona coffee was simple. Owners were gracious to share local knowledge when I was there and I was able to see turtles on one beach and swim with them at another local (something I hadn't done on half a dozen trips to Big Island staying at noisy hotels). Grateful for a more genuine experience for the feel of Big Island. Great location, support and peaceful abode above the fray! Mahalo Martha and Lisa!
