Region: Somerset offers 3 Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty - the Quantock, Mendip and Blackdown Hills. Lose yourself in the glory of nature, take a ride on a steam train, visit a traditional farmers’ market or explore your mystical side at Glastonbury.
Town: The picturesque village of Brompton Regis is located in the south east of Exmoor National Park, within easy driving distance of the North Somerset coastline. The village has a friendly, 16th century pub and a village shop, while just down the road, Wimbleball Lake is a beautiful, 400-acre reservoir with an activity centre for yachtsmen, canoeists and anglers. For ramblers, there are many local walks that take you around the village, the lake, through Storridge Woods, or up and around Haddon Hill, all of which provide some truly stunning scenery! Similarly, for horse riders there are many bridleways that enable you to keep away from the roads and where you can enjoy the peace and quiet of this beautiful area, interrupted only by the sounds of the countryside. Exmoor is a wonderful place to get away from it all and relax. From Brompton Regis, there is easy access to Dulverton, Dunster Castle, Porlock Weir and The Strand, Minehead’s long, sandy beach, making it the perfect base for a tranquil retreat exploring West Somerset and North Devon.
