The balcony view was good.
The managing guy at the counter spoiled the mood of my trip when he called me at the counter at 5 a.m to fight without talking to his senior & Colleagues, whom i already spoke with. He said my senior is sleeping, i can’t disturb him but he was able to make his guests uncomfortable.
- requests were put up at an app called GLU but was not fulfilled, till you actually go to the reception and ask them multiple times.

The rooftop is gorgeous. It’s a lovely space!
The air-con in the room was brilliant and it was lovely to have soap, shampoo and conditioner - which all smelt lovely.
The staff at the property were unkind. I really felt like everyone that worked there hated me. When I first arrived I asked for help (it turns out the bridge joining this side or Rishikesh to the other is closed meaning if you want to go anywhere with a range of things to do (this area is quiet) it is over 1 hour walk to get to the other side, which is 35 degree heat is tough) when I asked the staff for help they were not empathetic or kind they shut me down and basically told me to get a grip. I understand it is not their fault but I would’ve appreciated some empathy- after this I left the hostel and had a little cry.
Another issue I had with the staff was my friend was coming ( I paid for 2 people) she arrived after I had already checked in. She waited for 20 minutes but the staff didn’t acknowledge her so we left, then the next day one of the staff members asked who she was, we explained she was the additional guest. Then about 15 minutes later the door bell to the room rang on repeat, I had been sick and was in my underwear but opened the door as I was concerned. A man was there and told me I had to come to reception now, I asked if I could dress and he kept repeating come to reception now. I put a tshirt on despite his insistence because I wanted to have some dignity. Then I got to reception and a man told me I needed to give him my friends passport and visa - which is fine but he could’ve come up the 7 stairs to ask instead of sending me down almost in my underwear! Then he came up but made it very clear he was NOT happy and we exchanged the information with him.
I really had a horrible time coming in and out the hostel I felt like I had to avoid eye contact with all the reception staff - I haven’t had this anywhere else in India.
I completely understand working in hostels is hard but being kind can go a long way a even smiling when people arrive can make a difference. I like the building of the hostel so much but I was so upset with the rest :(

This property is fantastic! Beautiful rooms, hot showers, fabulous location, excellent staff. I even came back instead of moving on. Highly recommend!
Not being able to pay cash at the restaurant as my app wouldn’t work so couldn’t eat there. Otherwise great!
