About this house rental
*** DESCRIPTION
Superb location & convenience coupled with oasis-like escapism, this home is purposely positioned to be your perfect hideaway when seeking to be near downtown, yet need a haven to retreat to on foot. You can be carefree (and car-free) at a moment's notice to stroll towards the energy of the beachtown, yet easily recharge back home perched high above it all with gorgeous golden-hour views of the town and hillsides. From this hidden hill, you can walk to town in just 4 minutes (6 to the beach)!
*** PROPERTY
✓ That’s right! NO Cleaning Fee & NO Aircon Fee. Welcome to our home, traveler!
• BACKUPS include 8,000 liters of water tank storage (because SJDS and many homes often run out of water) and multiple UPS batteries to keep the high-speed fiber WiFi running when the town loses power (up to 3 hours).
• MASTER BEDROOM includes 2 queen beds (sleeps up to 4), modern LG aircon, as well as powerful ceiling fans above each bed, a closet, dresser, and a private bathroom with bidet. Connected to this room is a hot water, outdoor tropical shower sunken deep into the ground.
• 2 GUEST BEDROOMS are located at the other end of the home for sound-privacy, each with a queen bed, the same LG aircon, a ceiling fan, and a freestanding closet. The Jack & Jill bathroom is cleverly divided into 3 additional spaces (toilet room with bidet, outdoor hot shower, and double-sink room) so that everyone can get ready at the same time, without delays.
• KITCHEN + LIVING ROOM has a large, open layout with ample countertop space and a 3-person prep table for preparing and cooking food on the 6-burner gas stove, while others may relax in the living area with a loveseat, chairs, coffee table, and even a comfortable office desk and chair with hardwired internet. We provide many of the amenities you are accustomed to, especially the kitchen tools and appliances, because this house is not just a rental home. It's our home as well and we love to cook in it and keep it well-stocked!
• OUTDOOR COVERED PATIO boasts a shaded dining area with a table/countertop that fits 6-8 people, a large sink, a gas grill with a side burner, and an outdoor cushioned daybed that pulls apart to become a sofa with seats.
• SHARED POOL, a few steps up the hill behind the house, is a gorgeous saltwater pool and patio overlooking the downtown. This is where another bathroom and outdoor shower are located. The pool is sometimes shared with our 2nd, smaller home on our property, a studio cabaña, when that is occupied.
• SHARED PLUNGE TUB is a fresh-water lounge area located at the very top of the property where 6-8 people can soak in the tub, soak up the sun, or soak up the moon with soaring views of the beach, bustling town, and sunsets.
*** GUEST ACCESS
• ENTIRE HOME with 3 bedrooms are private and available for you and your group, as well as the outdoor covered patio area, dining area, and grill. The pool, plunge tub, and entrance steps are sometimes shared with our 2nd, smaller home on our property, but when that studio cabaña is not occupied, the 1,400m² outdoor property is all yours. You can view that 2nd home here:
vrbo.com/4120043
• PARKING right next to the patio for smaller vehicles such as rented motos, ATV/Quads, or UTV/Side-By-Sides. For cars and trucks, there is offsite parking about 50 meters away in an empty lot at the top of the street, or public street parking at the base of the hill.
• Security: The house includes a smart lock for easy, safe access along with self check-in, security safes inside the home for your belongings, and outdoor security cameras at the entrance to the home and the property, the shared-pool area, and the mechanical appliances behind the home (AC units, gas tanks, hot water heater).
*** INTERACTION
• CHAT/TEXT in the VRBO app, as we enjoy answering any and all questions. Instead of wasting precious vacation time trying to find something in the home, figure out how something works, or questions about the town, just send us a quick message.
• GROUNDSKEEPER Manuel is sometimes available to address any concerns or problems in person. He's fantastic, even helped build both of our homes, and is knowledgeable of many things SJDS and beyond. He will be cleaning the pool daily as well as tending to the plants and gardens around the property. He can help you run errands or pick something up. Oh, and he is learning English!
• WE THE HOSTS sometimes live in SJDS (when not in Boston or traveling), and may be living in the cabaña up the hill. Come up and say hi! We are very gregarious and sociable, love hosting our guests, and even introducing them to the town if they want! We can interact with you as much or as little as you prefer.
*** OTHER DETAILS
• STEEP HILL/QUICK WALK to get to the house ~35 meters above sea level that requires a brief but steep walk. Most visitors can walk up to our home in 2 minutes. While the location and view are worth it, it is impractical for people with asthma, breathing issues, knee problems, injuries, or walking difficulties.
Let us know that everyone in your group is fine with this short but steep walk. We are excited to have you book with us!
