About this apartment rental
This superbly located family home was redesigned by award winning architects and featured in the 'Sunday Times' Magazine. Although stylish, the emphasis is still very homely and child friendly (we live here most of the year). From an unusually light and spacious living room, sliding glass doors open out onto a courtyard with outdoor dining with deluxe barbeque.
The rear of the coach house opens out onto a private cobbled mews. There is one double bedroom with an ensuite luxury bathroom and two further bedrooms (one large single bed and one king size bed). The Grade II listed townhouse is set in a conservation area of Georgian London and whilst very quiet, the busy and vibrant neighbourhoods of Islington and Clerkenwell are just five minutes away, offering theatres, cinemas, a fantastic range of shops, bars and restaurants. With Kings Cross tube also only a few minutes walk away this is the ideal hub for almost anywhere in London.

Eclectically decorated house with lots of space. The decoration is clearly a work of a loving craftsman. Safe neighborhood, within walking distance of two tube stations, a "street" market and shops. Everything works well. As long as you are willing to be charmed and not expect the efficiency of a serviced apartment, you will really enjoy it.

Our family was greeted warmly, introduced to the home, and also had a very detailed book on the care and maintenance for reference. The home was as described, full of great personality and all the amenities. The short walks to Kings Cross/St Pancras connected us to all of London simply and directly. The ease of living allowed us to focus on experiencing the city and recharging. Having lived in London years ago, we were impressed with the space. Not just a unique home, but a home within which one wants to live.
Laundry, meals, everything was simple. The kids enjoyed caring for the guinea pig who happened to be in residence.
Highly recommend for lots of space (which in London is unusual), the relaxing vibe, the amenities, and the location. Looking forward to opportunities to stay again!

This is a terrific and spacious place to use as a base to explore london. St Pancras station is about a 5-10 minute walk away which is fantastic if you are using Eurostar as we did and of course the tube gets you anywhere you want very quickly. Lots of pubs/restaurants/shops within minutes of the flat. Emily and John have provided very generous and homely appointments and you will want for nothing (right down to art materials for our children and pet guinea pigs! - optional to look after, but were the highlight of the kids European holiday). Would not hesitate to stay again if we were to return to London - Thanks

Our family spent two fun weeks in this wonderful and eclectic flat. We loved the well appointed gourmet kitchen, the quiet inner courtyard, the laid back living room and the spa-like master bedroom retreat on the second level of the attached carriage house. Our kids loved their custom bedrooms and the hidden arts and crafts room. The flat is bright and airy with huge windows. Decorated and outfitted with a mix of Indonesian, French, Moroccan, Turkish, Cuban and Brazilian accessories and furnishings, the flat provides a wholly English yet global experience. The owner is a carpenter and the customized touches of a master builder are present throughout the flat.
It is located on a quiet street, yet centrally located - a short 10 minute walk to the heart of Islington and the tube station. The owners were fantastic and more than helpful in getting us settled and orienting us to the home and the local attractions.
The flat was the highlight of our trip and is highly recommended!

Our family stayed in this flat over New Year's week. It was very comfortable. The kitchen was amazing and ended up being a place where we spent a lot of time while in the flat. We found that we could conveniently walk to anywhere everywhere we wanted to go in London and only rode the Tube when it rained. We enjoyed our stay. Thanks.

We rented this house for 15 nights in late summer, 2010. It is a wonderful house, full of this family's artistic, whimsical, charming things, including a gorgeous piano and guitars (which one of us could play). The kitchen is a dream - fantastic old stove, very easy and pleasant to use, beautiful-wonderful cookery things. We had three family-friends feasts in the house and they were all easy and successful and enjoyed by all. The one difficulty is that the kitchen is crammed full of foodstuffs and dishes, etc. It was hard fitting in the things we bought for ourselves. The main bedroom and bath are up a spiral staircase, which afforded privacy and charm to the couple who stayed up there. The bath on the main floor consists of a little shower room with a beautiful tiled sunken shower/tub and a tiny sink and a toilet and sink half a flight up. It was a bit inconvenient for the mother, father, baby and auntie who stayed in the downstairs. One person complained that the beds were hard, but most of us felt the house was comfortable and charming. The family made room for our clothing and toiletries - no problem. The house has a unique interior - lots of glass, lots of light, excellent location - great neighborhood and transportation connections! Wonderful for day outings to London sights.

This place was even better in person than pictured here on vrbo, which is saying a lot. The layout was much better, the place bigger, more comfortable, more eclectic and interesting than I had imagined. The light is amazing. The stove was amazing to cook on.
There are a lot of random small staircases throughout the apartment - a few here from the kitchen and few there down to the girls' bedrooms, and in the hall, plus the spiral staircase leading to the master suite.
It is quite a lot of space and we enjoyed the privacy. I would recommend this place to families, or to multiple couples traveling together.
We couldn't have picked a better home-away-from home for our week-long visit to London with our 8 year old daughter. She loved sleeping in the bedroom with the guinea pigs, having her own bath tub and art room. She essentially had her own wing of the house.
Emily has been very helpful, even after our stay had ended and our vacation plans were changed by the volcano.
The location was convenient to the Eurostar station (St Pancras), and a few minutes walk to the tube at Kings Cross.
The neighborhood is safe and peaceful. The playground nearby was a lifesaver.

We felt immediately at home in this spacious 'flat' with a lot of nice details. Ideal for a family with 3 kids. The house is a 10 minute walk from underground and near Islington shops. We had a splendid Christmas 2009 holiday. I have no reservation in booking it again for another London visit or recommending it. The contact with the owners was nice and there were no 'pitfalls'. It actually exceeded our expectations.

We truly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful London Flat. It was very spacious, comfortable and had everything we could possibly need there at our fingertips. Emily and Jenny were so very helpful and kind.
Our kids fell in love with it as well!
Even though it is in the heart of London,we felt completely safe in this upscale neighborhood.

Clean, spacious apartment. We fel at home. Liked staying out of the tourist hubub. Cool Islington local non touristy neighborhood. Great location to King's Cross tube and Angel tube. One children's bedroom slightly small.
