About this house rental
Experience relaxing coastal living at this beautiful coastal cottage vacation rental in Delaware’s hidden gem community of Broadkill Beach. This fully renovated two bedroom and two bath home is a brand new vacation listing, and has just become available for the summer 2024 season and beyond. The house is made for vacation getaways: beautiful, fresh, highly organized and clean, and designed with numerous custom elements, as well as East Coast local art and curated vintage finds.
The house is ideally geographically located for a nature-filled vacation, backing to Primehook National Wildlife Refuge and is directly across the street (one row of houses) from Broadkill Beach, making front door to beach chair an easy two to three minute walk.
With accommodations for up to six guests and a well behaved dog-friendly policy, this rental is perfect for families or groups looking for a laid back beach escape. The home features two comfortable bedrooms, as well as a new queen sized Crate and Barrel sleeper sofa, and can accommodate up to six guests.
The open floor plan on the main level includes a fully equipped kitchen with modern appliances, a dining area, and a cozy living room with a large flat-screen internet-ready TV. If you want more space, sandy days after the beach are made for using the lower level summer living room, which includes a custom built in daybed, full size refrigerator and bar, internet-ready TV, game table and plenty of board games.
The house offers stunning marsh views, including being one of only a handful of houses in Broadkill with private dock access. Enjoy crabbing, kayaking and sunset cocktails from the dock. Turn around 180 degrees and also enjoy bay views from the upstairs great room, including gorgeous sunrises. The house is made for summer outside living with a covered deck, firepit area, large picnic table, grill, private outdoor shower, and of course, the dock access. Beach vacation travel should be hassle-free, so the property includes beach chairs, beach toys, a large cooler and an umbrella for your use. Linens, including sheets, blankets and towels are also included in your stay.
For nature loving bike riders, bring your bikes or rent them from local bike shops. The house has a large former “boat house” that offers plenty of bike storage space (in addition to the above beach items). Ride your bike to the south end of Broadkill to spend time at Beach Plum Island Preserve (considered a part of Cape Henlopen State Park, separated by water). This gorgeous state park is the only “wilderness beach” in the Delaware State Park system. You can also ride your bike to visit Primehook Wildlife Refuge, a 10,000 acre protected national wildlife refuge.
If you want more to do, enjoy the nearby historic town of Milton, including touring Dogfish Brewery, visiting Milton Theatre and antique shopping. The vibrant walking friendly small town of Lewes and America’s Summer Capitol, Rehoboth Beach, with it’s classic summer boardwalk and the nostalgic Funland amusement park are also within easy drives.

The house was beautifully refinished and the property was amazing. The view from the back was stunning! The walk to the beach was quick, only about 2 minutes. The house had everything we needed, and then some. I made a birthday cake while there and thought I was going to have to go buy a mixer, but I found one in the back of the cabinet. The only issue with the property was the smell. It was a very strong chemical smell that was mostly limited to the lower level, but when the AC was turned on the smell traveled upstairs. I could not even be on the lower level for more than a few mins without my throat burning and eyes watering. My husband said it was from whatever they probably used to seal the walls to prevent mold/water damage but I would think over time it would dissipate. I’m not sure when the house was renovated, so perhaps it will get better over time. We kept the windows open in the entire house the whole time we were there and it helped some, but not enough. The bottom floor was also very wet every morning, some days worse than others. Not house related, but beach related, it’s not the best for being submerged in the water. My kids were stung by jellyfish more times than we could count. The biting flies were also pretty intense some days! We also had trouble with the lock, but they were quick to address the issue. Overall it was great and I have recommended the property to friends but with a warning about the smell.

We needed lodging for a 3-day tournament at DE Turf and decided to make a mini family vacation out of it (avoiding both the summer beach crowds and the sub-par hotel offerings near the sports complex). We are so grateful to have found this hidden gem of a property and beach! The house is beautifully decorated and very well stocked. The footpath/dock is such a nice feature - we loved fishing (brought our own rods/gear) and just sitting out there listening to the birds. There is a second-story deck that was perfect for morning coffee. We didn't have much time for the beach, but loved that beach chairs and towels were available. It's an easy drive into Lewes/Rehoboth for dinner. We will absolutely stay there again!

Cannot say enough wonderful things about this house - it was perfectly appointed, clean, and beautifully decorated. The back deck overlooking the marsh and private dock is so wonderful for morning coffee, evening cocktails, and everything inbetween (including bird watching!). And right across the street is beach access - super convenient! There was plenty of living space, and lots of spots to hang throughout the house - inside and out. The house was incredibly relaxing despite being there with two young boys. Easy to get to Lewes & Rehoboth but Broadkill Beach brings its own charm, there were days we just hung out there with no need to leave. We were sad when the week was over!

Lovely house with beautiful views to prime hook reserve. Has a dock but there was no kayak for guests to use. That’s my only complaint. Kind of a teaser to show the dock but then not be able to take advantage of it. That was the only disappointment of this house. They could easily store multiple kayaks in the shed. I may be one of the first guests at this house. It appears newly renovated. So perhaps the next folks will be lucky and they will get you some kayaks to truly appreciate this house.
