When my husband had surgery at UC Davis, i had to stay overnight nearby. I found The MidTowner online because the price ($88) was all i could afford. I worried that because Motel 6 was across that this hotel would be not so nice. To my surprise this property is remodeled. The office is modern and clean. The staff was knowledgeable and professional. My room had hardwood like flooring, a remodeled bathroom, safetly lock on the door, a/c heater and fan only for white nouse. Additionally the tv, mini fridge, ironing board, hair dryer, coffee maker, shampoo, soaps, tissue, and toilet paper were nicely stocked. The towels were clean and provided wash cloths, hand towels and bath towels. The linens on the bed, however, were not as fresh as i would have hoped but i brought my own pillows. I pulled ba k the sheet and the fitted sheet was clean to my view. The top sheet and pillows had the smell of what i can only describe as car exhaust fumes. Maybe this is because the hotel sits literally next to Highway 5 so maybe it comes through the a/c which is likey. Overall, 4-1/2 stars out of 5.

Was on the ground floor and heard EVERYTHING happening on the floor above and a homeless person was having a 10 minute yelling issue. The bed was super comfy.

The hotel was very queen, secure and easy to find. The complimentary breakfast was great. It had many choices to choose from

There was no warm water when I arrived, but I cannot fault them for that. They were apologetic and passed on the message that a part was being delivered overnight and the repair was expected to be completed about 0800 in the morning, and it was fixed close to that time. I had business to take care of first thing nearby, and was able to shower and check out when I returned. The location and price was attractive to me. The breakfast had few choices, but I did not care.

Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Room smelled a bit of old smoke, but was otherwise clean and seemed like it had been refreshed since the awful 2022 reviews. Bus towards town for Discovery Park events is right outside. Local area felt ok to me but that depends on your tolerance. Over 5 days I noticed (i) a person in the car park saying weird things during the day, (ii) someone shouting loudly and aggressively at night (4 am maybe?), sounded like it was near the parking, (iii) during daytime, a group of people with stuff that seemed homeless and moved around the local area, I saw them in about 3 different places within 4-5 blocks during my stay. They seemed sober and responded normally when I said "hi". It just felt like they were sticking together and I didn't feel threatened.

The front desk was very accommodating to us arriving early. They held our stuff while we ate and then let us check in at noon instead of 3pm. It was the best, least expensive hotel in the area.

Room needed to be mopped. Update decor/furnishings. Limited breakfast offerings and only 7-9 am. No all day coffee. Immediate area is sketchy but there are plenty of cameraa and lights. I felt safe.

Almost the worst hotel I stayed. Not a good location even though parking lot is well lit and multiple security cameras in placed. See transients loitering. Room is repainted and bright with LED lights. A bit of mold in the ceiling. Bed is comfortable. Breakfast available only 7-9am(earliest I’ve seen and missed it). For the price and convenience location is ok for a night. I won’t come back

A lot of noise throughout the night. A lot of indigent people hanging around at all times
6.0
It's so noisy as the property has almost no sound proofing measures. Safety is also another big issue. I even saw a live boxing in the morning between a resident and a homeless because the homeless guy stayed over night in his car.

Although the room internally was updated and somewhat clean (other peoples hair and residue on walls) the surrounding area of Sacremento is just sketchy with people wandering through the parking lot who clearly do not belong on property. One person was carrying a large wall painting, several young adults on bikes crcling and looking over everything in the parking lot and first floor, and just a general sense of people loitering for no real reason.
My room had the door and windows configured to be unlocked by default and unless I checked I would have not known the windows could have been opened from the outside if I did not lock them.
Given the other options in the area, this is still the best choice amongst them. The staff was great and the price was right. I was avoiding the strike by the other hotel chains and trying to save some money and just needed a quick over night.

A lot of homeless people and drug users surrounding the building and the area. Would never reserve a room there again.

This is a hotel with motel vibes, it looks nothing like online site, no microwave in room like ad showed, no room clean, I was told later you have to request it, cont breakfast was a joke, room dirty, hair all over, one of my pillow cases had what looked like blood on it
4.0
Pros:
*The room designs are nice, and the rooms are spacious.
*Some of the staff were very nice. Specifically the young lady who works nights.
Cons:
*When checking in, there were people in front of me and 2 employees at the counter. Employee number 1 was helping the people in front of me, employee 2 ignored me and helped the person behind me. (Employee 1 was very nice)
*The elevators did not work well, and broke down frequently, so if you have limited mobility, don’t stay here
*the key cards become inactive seemingly at random (in the middle of our stay)
*light fixtures come undone (as well as many of the sockets), mold-like substance on ceiling, burn mark on bathroom door. It seemed like a very lazy remodel
*The custodian never came, and the room was not super clean upon entry (needed to be mopped)
*Super uncomfortable bed.
Ultimately, it feels like the room aesthetic was prioritized over any functionality, or cleanliness.
