This was likely my worst experience at a hotel. Hear me out, I did not go in with High Expectations. It is a “Quality” Inn.. however… the person at the front desk insisted she needed to charge me for the room, even though I paid on Hotels.com and could show her my receipt. She said she still had to swipe my card for the room and incidentals but I could talk to her manager about it the next day. In an effort to have a place to sleep before my kids’ swim meet the next day, I gave her my card. We got to the room and it smelled like mold (not stuffy) - MOLD. There were towels underneath the AC units (to collect water?!) I went back down to talk to the same front desk person. Her response, “all the rooms smell like that, it’s an old hotel that leaks when it rains” 😳
Y’all it took FOUR days for the manager to finally call me back. He tried to assure me that all the rooms don’t smell like that but they “new employee” who told me that sounded like she was just speaking her truth and I should have just slept in my car.
Thankfully, the manager reversed the charge and offered me Choice Hotels points for my frustration but I never got the email he promised.

I am seeking compensation for this. When I arrived on 8/30/24 there was an inch of standing water on the ground surrounding the AC unit and I did not notice it. I had my children with me and when I requested that one of my sons get off the bed because it was time for a shower he got down in a very normal manner and ended up slipping on the water and hitting his head on the ground and the AC unit. Luckily he is OK, however my son is epileptic and this could've caused Major issues. When I spoke to the Hotel about it they said "oh sorry there is a storm in the area and the water is coming in form the AC unit all of the rooms are doing it so here is a few extra towels." I then spent the rest of the weekend replacing sopping wet towels in my room to ensure that my children would be safe. Safety should not have to be an issue I am concerned with while I am staying at a hotel.I have stayed with this hotel previously with no issues. So for management to not even care or listen to my concerns about my child's safety and medical well being was absolutely astonishing. I then tried to contact Expedia and had no luck being transferred to a new hotel. I then went multiple nights with little to no sleep due to the constant worry that my children would have a seizure do to being injured on this property

Counter person Saturday night had no interest in working or being helpful. Did not answer questions. Discovered our card (room key) had not been activated. Had to go back to counter to get it activated. Room was clean. Refrigerator did not cool - this was reported and will be interesting to see if/how hotel handles that. The ice maker on our floor did not work. The outside door near our room - card reader did not work so could not enter. Coffee maker did not work in complimentary breakfast in the lounge. Counter person Sunday morning also had an "I don't care attitude." I was shocked I had to leave a deposit that was not in your literature. Staff refused to refund my deposit Sunday morning.

It was clean and the bed was surprisingly comfortable (or maybe I was just very tired). The breakfast assortment was poor (waffle iron was the only hot breakfast item), the staff was unenthusiastic and openly talking about needing better opportunities.
