Amazing location, room, and customer service!

Stay was nice; however received an email to be granted early AM check but our room was not ready upon arrival. The hotel did keep our bags while we explored some nearby shops. Also, the hot water in our room was glitchy and you had to let the water run about 5mins before it turned warm. Overall great stay, location was good.

As a lady traveling to NYC I was looking for a nice, clean and safe place to stay for 4 days. This hotel met all my criteria. Not too far from busy downtown. Perfect walking district from Hudson piers. Nice clean hotel and welcoming staff.
I would highly recommend this place, it is right by a subway station. Has an amazing pizza place and Starbucks, bagel shop and a couple of fine diners around.

We’ve really grown to love Tribeca. There are wonderful restaurants nearby, easy walk to the Brooklyn bridge, Ground Zero, and a reasonable walk to SoHo shopping and restaurants. This was our first time staying at The Smyth. The hotel was well kept, staff nice, and had everything we were looking for during this quick long weekend stay.

When I opened the door to my room the maid was still in there.
The alarm clock went off before 6am - I did not set the alarm.
There was only one shower towel in the bathroom.
The trash can in the room wasn’t emptied and there was trash and clip-in fake hair left behind. Super gross.
Then when I retrieved my car from valet, the seat belt clip that allows me to drive without wearing a seat belt and setting off the seat belt signal was missing/stolen.
Overall, I would never stay at this hotel again or recommend it.

Excellent location, friendly staff and clean, comfortable rooms. My only issue was with the bathroom - the door slides to close but does not really close so there was no real privacy. Also the light in the bathroom was motion sensored so turned on whether I wanted it to or not. If the bathroom didn’t have a frosted glass wall this would not be an issue. Otherwise I was very happy with the hotel especially the location.

Service was great!! Very nice people working there. Things were clean except the carpet was badly stained in several places, definitely needs replacement. The thermostat did not seem to be working. It was 70 when I checked in, I tried to make it a bit warmer, but it went down to 67.

I am hesitant to leave this review because too many people will find out about this wonderful rest-spot in a crazy-busy part of Manhattan. Pure paradise. What a great hotel!

Love the area and staff was exceptionally kind

We were greeted and everyone was so nice. Room was a good size especially in NYC. The only thing was the doors all stuck so you had to push your way in and the absence of a shower door is a big miss. Water everywhere and drafty in the shower.

Very convenient location in a very nice area Tribeca. It is very close to world trade center. The area is clean and quiet. Property is not fancy but clean and in good condition. The staff are nice, service is good.

We love The Smyth! The location is awesome. The rooms are spacious and the bed is very comfort. The lounge really nice. There is always a doorman and someone on duty at the front desk. It’s a hidden gem. We will definitely stay there again.

The Smyth is hit or miss with their rooms and their service. Some rooms are great others absolutely horrible. Same with staff. Depends on who’s at the front desk. Location is good. The bathrooms have annoying motion detected timer lights with no dimmers that can’t be turned off. Really annoying in the middle of the night. The Queen balcony rooms are the size of a shoe box. Balcony is bigger than the room practically. Corner King is a great room. Junior suite is dark and dingy. No sunlight practically.

Honestly it was a good stay. Not bad not great but just good. We had plans for the 4th of July and wanted to stay somewhere close by and nice with a balcony and this was that. Do I think it was worth $400 for the night? Definitely not.
Pros:
Staff is very nice and helpful
Property and room was very clean
Bathroom is very nice and shower is spacious
Cons:
bed, toilet, and chairs feel like they were meant for a child, extremely low to the ground.
TV is small and outdated (Google chrome cast) didn’t work
Doesn’t feel worth the price tag overall it was a good stay, not that it’s bad but wouldn’t stay here again.

Everything was first class except they didn't let the delivery person up to my room so I had to go downstairs and outside to meet him. My right foot is in a boot, and getting around isn't easy. I'm unsure why they wouldn't let him deliver my dinner in person. I think management should rethink that.

I was expecting more for the room. We went to celebrate my husband’s 85 birthday! Not a single detail or effort to make his birthday special. In addition, bed was very uncomfortable. Bathroom only has two towels-I had to call and ask for more. Never arrived, my husband had to go and pick them up. Very uncomfortable bathroom set up. No space to put our stuff. Room vas very dark. Only one window. The AC was not good. I was hot all the time I was there. WiFi reception was very spotty. And after everything we paid, they charged us $45 per night as a service fee. When I asked what was that service for, they didn’t know. Very bad experience.

It’s says tribeca on the listing, but it’s on the border with the financial district, making it kind of inconvenient to get to popular spots around the city. I found myself walking a lot. Good luck getting Wi-Fi. My room didn’t have any and it took days to connect. Staff downstairs is all attitude.
