How on earth this place received a 9.6 exceptional rating is beyond my comprehension. The small house is old and tired. The reviews on line are misleading.

The staff are such lovely people and so friendly. They put on a lovely breakfast every morning. I stayed in the carriage house which has the potential to be a really great spot for a family to stay with 2 rooms, each having a bathroom and common area with Kitchenette and access to rear balcony.
The sad part was that since I stayed here last (about 4 years ago) it has not been updated. The wallpaper is peeling off the walls in the bathroom and mold is growing underneath in the shower room, which is a real health hazard. The bed squeaks and slides about the floor every time your turn. I woke up 1ft away from the wall it was out against.
Would encourgae the owners to renovate and update these facilities and restore it back to the quaint little cottage b’n’b it used to be.

We were greeted upon arrival by owner Ed who personally walked us to our room, sharing charming stories of the Inn’s long history of interactions with Hall of Fame Baseball luminaries. The Inn was built around 1835 and still exhibits many original features. It is filled with baseball-themed collectibles. It has a pleasant fenced in backyard with an oval shaped jacuzzi style pool.
There is onsite parking to the back and side of the Inn. And it is a very short walk to Doubleday Field and the many restaurants and shops that line Main Street. The Hall of Fame itself is about an easy 10-15 minute walk. We had a very good Italian dinner at Toscana on Main Street the Sunday night of our stay, and a good American cuisine dinner at Mel’s on Main Street the Friday night, both of which are very easy walks from the Inn.
The staff at the Inn is friendly and helpful. Each morning we were served delicious breakfasts that featured fresh fruit, a freshly baked bread or muffin, a breakfast casserole or bake, sausage or bacon, homemade jam and coffee and juice. Daily room freshening service was offered.
Overall an excellent stay. We would not hesitate to return.

All of the staff were friendly and helpful. We were hit by an unexpected snowstorm, and they were very helpful to my wife and me to make sure that we didn't fall on the ice (we're in our 70s).
Breakfast was delicious, locally sourced, and just enough to get us to lunch without any stomach growling. They asked when we arrived if we had any food allergies and were able to take those into account. We slept in a kingsize bed that was very comfortable, and the room was nicely furnished. Parking on site was limited, but they have access to a lot just two blocks away.
All in all, a great place to take my wife on her birthday.
