Was very disappointed with this property. Room was not maintained well! Sink was clogged, toilet did flush properly and air conditioner did not work in room! Difficult to get dinner reservations they claim they were always booked and full!

I was incredibly disappointed in my stay here. The accommodations were covered in mold and when I brought this to the attention of the property, they would not offer a refund. In addition, the towels at both the hotel and the pool were all ripped and dirty. I will not stay here again.

To whom this may concern,
On September 3rd my husband and I checked into our room at Riu palace punta cana to enjoy our anniversary. The smell if the room was overwhelmingly horrible. It smelled like mildew. I checked the bed and the sheets were wet and the mattress had mildew on it. The toilet was dirty, paint was peeling, hair was in our shower. We complained to the front desk. They changed our room so even though we were exhausted from travel we drugged our luggage to our new room.
We get to our new room the mildew smell was mild, I can tell they sprayed air freshener. Again we are so exhausted from travel we just wanted rest and decided to stay. First night the fan went out we slept very uncomfortable. The next morning we were enjoying some romantic time together and a worker just opens our door. Very embarrassing and rude. We called room service no one answered. Next day I was brushing my teeth and I seen little bugs crawling all over our bathroom. They were on the counter, on the towels privided, on our toothbrushes, and in my make up bag. I brought sweets to my room set it down for one minute and the bugs were all over my food. The last day of our stay roaches were crawling on our walls. I'm very disappointed in the rooms in general. These incidents have left me extremely dissatisfied with the level of service and quality provided.
I strongly believe that Riu has the potential to provide exceptional service and I hope this complaint can serve as an opport

I Liked everything about the property especially the staff outstanding!!!!!
Unfortunately the rooms were very damp and humid you could smell the mold in the room. Do not know why that would happen. We stayed an extra night at another hotel chain and the room was perfect climate and as far as humidity there was non in the room.
That is something that should be worked on.

My experience was excellent. The amenities are awesome but, the staff are the ones that make a difference. They make you feel super comfortable.
It was my birthday and I felt like a queen.
Thanks to Antonio from the Isabella restaurant he made the difference between good and excellent in a positive way.
Thanks again.

I have stayed at other RIU Place, this one was so out dated. I have booked 2 rooms for my family vacation. 2 bedrooms with double beds. Both bedrooms was kept as a king no accommodation there. In addition, the communication was horrible. No one at customer service , spoke no English.
Will not stay there again.

Pros: steakhouse dinner, incredible professional dancers for nightly performances and a fantastic beach. Buffet is decent.
Cons: rooms are outdated and are still card based, you need a key card to keep the AC running. Kids entertainment is weak. The water park is a 10 minute walk without a free shuttle. The basic rooms are terrible and something was wrong with many of the rooms based on a few interactions. You have to upgrade to a better room for better service. The hotel isn’t the cleanest: linens were stained and vermin visible. Shuttle service is unclear and taxi drivers are territorial at the hotel.

This was my second trip to this property. It was amazing the first trip .. seamless from arrival to departure. This trip was different, multiple room issues at check in plus no AC in room. , phone didnt work, shower leaked everywhere, and only the rain fall part of shower worked. They fixed the AC but nothing else. Most likely will think twice before returning to this particular RIU.

Just spent 5 nights here, definitely would not come back. Overall, the outside of the property is very nice. Inside, the rooms are very dated. We had a family of 10 across 4 rooms. All of us had issues with the outlets not working. We had no hot water for hours the first full day we were there. The are only two options for lunch, the beach buffet or the bbq for burgers/chicken. The beach buffet is basically inedible. The specialty restaurants were just ok at best, definitely not family friendly if you have smaller kids. The only decent food is the Isabella buffet, the service there was always great. The pool water is literally hotter than a bathtub to the point where it wasn’t refreshing and the pools are small and extremely over crowded. The waterpark advertised in the pictures is not on site and you is about a 10 minutes walk. The beaches are filled with people trying to sell you crap every few minutes. The front desk supervisor berated my 70 year old parents because they forgot their keys in the room at check out and said he didn’t care if they missed their flights home. I’ve been to a lot of all inclusives, three in the Punta Cana alone, this was definitely the worst experience which is upsetting considering it was a family vacation meant to be relaxing but everyone was ready to go home by the second day.

Overrated hotel. You get what you pay for. I usually do not like to complain but when is necessary I will to alert people what to expect. The hotels grounds are nice but once you enter the rooms you can smell the mold. It was not just our room but our friends had the same issue too. Also, we had unexpected visitors(roaches, bed bugs), my wife woke up with bites on her hands and back and a swollen eye. The food looks great on day one, then expect the same food everyday every meal. Also, expect to tip to receive good service. Not much to do with kids. I will not stay at this location.

Avoid this resort. We stayed here with a group of 17 people and had a terrible experience. The main issues were mold in the rooms, roaches, and toilets that didn't flush. Everyone in our group encountered these problems. The ceiling fan was covered in dust, and we were told this was normal due to the weather. The resort is outdated and in need of renovation. We had to request toilet repairs daily from check-in to check-out, often waiting hours for someone to address the problem. Sometimes, we'd return from meals or activities to find our room smelly from the issue. The beds were very uncomfortable, and the food was only average. The alcohol selection was poor, and I preferred not to drink rather than settle for the low-quality options available. I would have considered paying for an upgrade if it had been offered. Additionally, some of us suffered from diarrhea for two days, likely due to uncooked steak that was left out at room temperature in the buffet area. The $1,355 resort credit per room, per stay was disappointing. After checking in and downloading the Riu app, we found that the credit was divided into small amounts, allowing only $10 to $20 off at a time. We tried to use it at the spa but only received a $20 discount per person, while the cheapest massage was $175. The pools are always overcrowded, water was hot like a sauna. The volleyball was ripped and deflated. We asked if they had another for us to use but they didn’t have one. The elevators were out of service,
