Hosts excellent as usua

We're so pleased to have stumbled across this wonderful B&B. The rooms were comfortable and clean with nice touches such as decent towels, good bedding, and a few bathroom products. Nicely freshened up daily. The daily cooked breakfast/continental was delicious and plentiful. Allan and Julie are excellent friendly hosts, and we'll be recommending City Guest House to family and friends. Thank you for looking after us.

Excellent place to stay, welcoming and friendly, very clean and a few minutes' walk to all the sights. I heartily recommend it.

Julie and Allan were the best of the stay!! Always giving tips and asking if we needed anything. The breakfast was incredible and we got a room upgrade for free. They paid attention to every single detail of our stay, including preparing a binder with recommendations, useful numbers and fan facts about the city! Everything was wonderful, specially the handmade breakfast they served everyday with a smile

Fantastic place 5/10 mins to the town Breakfast was lovely Owners are warm and welcoming, nothing is too much trouble. Rooms cosy and comfortable Bed was very comfortable I Had a really restful night I was a lone traveller and I felt safe and secure Close to shops, restaurants and amenities Excellent information folder in the rooms with lots of information on the history of the building and area and shops, pharmacy etc I would highly recommend this place, not highly modern but traditional but lovely none the less.

Wounderful short stay great location just minutes from main sights walking. The hosts are lovely nothing to much trouble and the breakfast was amazing plenty of choice and accomidated any special requirements x

Sweet family business run by a kind and caring couple. Nice touches including a home-cooked breakfast. Close to all attractions but away from the crowds. Recommend if you're looking for something small and personal. No need to worry about the secondary emails from eviivo. The Expedia reservation is sufficient.

Spotlessly clean throughout, quiet with nice rooms and comfortable beds. Extremely welcoming and friendly hosts. Plenty of choice at breakfast, well presented and very tasty. Excellent value

Our stay with Allan and Julie was wonderful. When booking, Allan and Julie were very accommodating with our late check in and parking options. We stayed at the City Guesthouse for three nights (Thursday night - Sunday morning) in their attic en-suite room during the busy Christmas market period. Our room was lovely, clean and so cosy. The room is stocked up daily with complimentary teas, hot chocolates, water and biscuits. The breakfast was delicious, with many options to choose from, and our stay was made even more pleasant by our kind hosts. Allan and Julie gave us so many suggestions on places to visit in York, and we were so sad to be leaving as we loved chatting to them everyday. The accommodation was also in a perfect location. Within 5/10 minutes walk you have the city centre, and the train station is only a 20 minute walk. The area is very pretty and peaceful. We could not recommend the City Guesthouse enough! It exceeded our expectations and we would love to return in the future. Thank you Allan and Julie for your incredible hospitality.

Comfortable, clean, friendly

Lovely property, we stayed in the attic room 6, nicely out of the way with a great bathroom! The proprietors were a pleasure to talk to and couldn't do enough to help. All round a very enjoyable stay.

Fantastic little guest, very clean & comfy clean room, plenty of choice at breakfast & full English breakfast very good, the owners were very attentive,chatty & friendly, we had a great stay & would stay again.

This guest house is excellent. Spotlessly clean throughout.The choice and standard of breakfast is outstanding. The bed was extremely comfortable and attention to detail in the room,like a bottle of water,differing hot drink choices,tissues,biscuits and even a chocolate made for a lovely stay. The hosts Alan and Julie are friendly and very informative of the local area,providing a street map and directions. I will definatley return here,as it was home from home and great value.

The hosts Allen & Julie were really warm and friendly, making sure everything was ok during our stay they couldn't do enough for us. The breakfast was superb, set you up for the day. I cant recommend them enough and look forward to staying again when im next visitinfg York.

I felt the English elegance staying in such a lovely intentionally decorated manor. Truly a favorite of mine!

This was my first solo break. And I immediately felt at home with Julie and Allan. Welcomed me into their home. My room was perfect for me and spotlessly clean. I arrived as stranger but definitely left a friend as with the other guests as well. Breakfast was relaxed and informal and set me up for the day ahead to explore.

I thoughougly recommend this guest house. The owners were very friendly, welcoming and very helpful. It's just 10 min walk to the city centre. The owners try their best to get a parking space for you. The room was lovely and clean and the breakfast was lovely. We had a fantastic stay and hope to go back.

Here for work. Good value relative to lots of other places. Very good location and friendly owners. Slept well as had room at back of guest house away from traffic. Noisy saniflo pump toilets. Decor somewhat dated and frilly Breakfast only served between 830 and 9. (Although cooked breakfast included i was unable to have any as start work at 830. Was offered croissant/fruit/yoghurt etc to go or brought up to room night before.) Would rate stay 7/10

What a lovely guest house, so close to the centre of York. The service was 5 star, Julie could not do enough for you, she is so knowledgeable about the area. The room was really comfortable and clean and we will definitely be back to stay again

This is a lovely b&b. Very easy to check in. Parking was assigned on arrival as no car park area.Notifying property you need parkingand time of arrival important. Julie and Allan impeccably hosts. Lovely room en suite. Breakfast,great choice and beautifully cooked and presented. Close to city easy walking distance. Close to everything you need to get to in York city. Definitely recommend.

A lovely place to stay, very very clean lovely people , great breakfast very central

Julie and Alan are great traditional hosts of this small hotel. Fine breakfast with choices of full English or continental. They will vary their breakfast time to suit you and they don’t throw you out the door at the earliest opportunity. They’re not pretending to be the Waldorf but if you’re happy to have a no fuss home from home, this is for you. Looking forward to returning.

We Stayed at this Guesthouse and the hosts were Fantastic the location was central and there was loads of information in the room with various recommendations for Where to eat Etc

This guest house had everything you could need on our 4 day trip. The rooms were spotless, food was to a high standard with plenty of selection for breakfast. Julie and Allan couldnt do enough for you and there was on street parking outside the guest house. In the rooms there information leaflets about trips and attractions to visit, just a few minutes walk from York city centre. We will definitely return to the York city guest house.

Fabulous b&b located 5minute walk from the city walls. The hosts Julie and Alan were so welcoming and friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was gorgeous, the room was spotlessly clean. We have booked for next year already. Little gem of a place would highly recommend.
