Really spatial and beautiful ground floor room with big windows. Very nice staff, provided lots of help. Bus stop right in front of the house.

Firstly this is all my opinion.
So the place says it is 4 stars as rated by Enjoy England I have looked them up repeatedly and cannot see such an awarding body, so to me that seems like a lie.
Again that won't be the only (in my opinion) lie that they say to get people to stay but we'll get to that. It says that it is close to the city centre do you consider 20 minutes on foot close? Again it doesn't tell you it's next to a hospital or show you the front of the building in it's pictures that's because it's a house and a pokey one at that.
Next let's move on to the rules they don't tell you about before arrival, you are not allowed alcohol in the room you are not allowed takeaway in the room and you are strongly encouraged not to make any noise after 10pm what is more fun when you're on holiday than copius rules?
On top of that the rooms are incredibly small it feels like you're in someone's back bedroom, which wouldn't be a problem if that was clearly shown that was what it was but it wasn't clear. Also whilst in there you feel incredibly on view and like you have to be on your best behavior again as though you are staying with a parent not want you want on holiday. Relaxation isn't on the cards.
Finally, the staircase is a deathtrap (in my opinion) incredibly steep and not wheelchair friendly, also the front of the property is very icy and that is also hazardous.
Oh and the online check in procedure where you have to give you passport details is also irritating.

Yes it was ok for a nights sleep. Not the ritz but much cheaper than others. I struggled a little getting door lock codes but I would stay again as it worked ok for us.

Guest house very close to Hospital. Tricky to find on street parking, then you only have 10 mins to get checked in and get a
Parking permit issues.
Checked in at 14.00, entrance hall full of of bed linen bags ready to picked up... Trip hazard and fire risk in my opinion and didn't seem inviting. Kitchen area when checking in looked very dishevelled and didn't give good impression.
Room was clean but various issues including shower room towel rail hanging off, incorrect lamp with sensor in shower room with no way of isolating fan on a night but still having light, curtains looked old and tired and some clips missing, ground floor window had no way of locking slightly open so room was roasting.
To be totally honest, we wouldn't stay there again. It was £107 per night but probably worth half that.
Manageress was very friendly and helpful though... Property just nerds a bit of TLC maintenance wise.

Everything was OK, i was left to get on with my business, which i preferred.

The place is near the bus stop, it’s quiet and the room is worth the price
3.9
It was a good two night stay and close to the York St. John University as that’s what I needed it.
3.9
Very poor experience as one of the reservations we made couldn’t be found therefore we were a room short and no apology or refund as of yet

Single room, basic but clean. Comfortable bed. Good size en suite bathroom.

The stay at Diamond lodge was slightly disappointing as it did not appear as it had presented on line. It was clean but very basic and was not good value for money. I would describe it as a hostel environment rather than a guest house.

In short the room was so bad, that we left, and booked into a different hotel.
The property is failing apart, major work is needed fix all the problems.
- The shower, only produce burning hot water.
- The socket extension was screwed to wall and was only power outlet, this produced sparks when used.
- Carpet filthy,
- Bed mattress had failed and was saggy.
- Sealant looked to have been installed by a young child.
- etc.
Avoid this property at all cost,

Very pleasant stay. You needed a permit to park on a street near the property. The permit you from the premises when you check in cost of £6/7 but no spaces left. So a 5 min walk from the property there is a payed carpark @ a cost of £6 for 24hrs. Also on arrival there is some rules no drinking on the premises is found out alcohol has been consumed there is a £25 bill on top of the full nights stay.

Reception pleasant, room clean not well equipped or organised or maintained.
On returning late the room and bathroom lights failed and therefore the shower extractor so unable to wash properly, owner said someone would be round 09:30 STILL WAITING at 10:10. We're leaving with a simple wash down and a bad review, what do they expect.

There is no free overnight parking in the immediate vicinity; you have to walk up to 10 minutes to get it or pay a rip off £5 per day for a parking permit

Very well priced accommodation - within walking disctance of all that York has to offer. Nice period property with lovely/friendly staff. Amazing value.

Having received an email from Diamonds Lodge advising that our booking included a continental breakfast basket in our room we were a little disappointed on arrival to be told we were room only. Not really a problem, but they should organise their admin a bit better. Also, there was mould in the shower that wan't great, but this was a last minute booking, the price, for York, was cheap, and the room was clean, so no real complaint.

did not like being so overcharged. £3 each for cornflakes only 1 crossant 2 small pastries not very nice, a yogurt. Would have expected at least a roll and a little cheese or jam. Also had to pay over the odds for parking

Friendly staff. Good location. Nice small garden in front of the house. Car Parking on nearby roadside for £5 per night.

Clean property with friendly and helpful staff ,convenient just a short walk from minster and shops

The location was perfect, as everything was just a short walk away and a bus stop right outside. The room was lovely and spacious and very clean. The only small thing was I couldn’t get a signal on the TV, but we had a very pleasant stay.

Very nice room in every way. Good location, bus outside door and 10 min to city center. Would stay again in room 7.

Spent 2 nights at Crossways, the room was very comfortable, the staff were very friendly & helpful with information on what to see in York and the best way to get there. Breakfasts were also superb, I would definitely recommend Crossways to anyone.

Lovely staff, nice room. Ours was on the top floor so it was quite hot, and the bathroom door didn't quite shut properly. Other than that it was a great place to stay! All clean and well kept. Perfect for a short stay :)

I stayed in a twin room, the beds were comfortable and the room was clean. The shower was excellent with good toiletries provided. There was even small scones provided with tea and coffee facilities. The breakfast was good, plenty of choice provided. I noticed they had homemade marmalades and jams you could have with your toast. The owner Emma was lovely and didn't have a problem with us leaving our suitcases with her for a couple of hours whilst we made the most of our last morning looking around York. It was only a ten minute walk to the centre. I thought it was very good value for the money we paid. I would stay there again

Not quite up to the standard we would expect. Excellent breakfast. Room and shower space too small. Parking was only available on the main road by permit.
